...what the voters are craving in the debates and on the stump is someone who can look liberals squarely in the eye and tell them why we are right and they are wrong. The American conservative base has had to put up with being called stupid, racist, greedy and unfair for decades by not only the Democrats but the vast majority of the media. The pent up frustration of these decades is magnified by the fact that George H. W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush and John McCain would not or perhaps could not confront this. In fact, rare is the Republican candidate at any level who refuses to put up with this and fights back. When they do, they become sensations.

You may be right, but there is evidence that maybe not. Obama got far fewer votes than he did in 08, and the GOP held the House, and that was a pretty conservative GOP slate of candidates.

For your theory to really make sense, 2010 would not have happened, Scott Walker would have lost his recall, and Obama would have gotten over 70 million votes last night.

Since none of that happened, my theory, that maybe if we actually articulated why we are right and they are wrong, the result might have - and I stress might have - been different.

What is the obsession of the young and single women with abortion. What happened to the pill or the norplant. What about abstinence or condoms.

I have three boys and though I know they will not be celibate, I encourage it and tell them please please about the condoms. If some young lady will sleep with you who knows who else she has been with. Protect yourself and your unborn children and be very careful where you put that thing.

The Author of our Declaration of Independence, with its emphasis on Creator-endowed (therefore, unalienable) rights declared that the underlying premise of those rights and liberties was:

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."

As a people, how far away from the very basis of our Constitutional protections we have come!

A President's election majority may have hinged, largely, on a population group who preferred him over his opponent because of his willingness to support that "hand of force" which "destroys" both the life and liberty of children in the womb.

It's not just abortion. There is serious concern that defining life at conception would mean the end of the pill, and yes there are methods of contraception/pills that prevent a fertilized egg from being carried to term, and not just the so-called morning after.

The time to defeat abortion was right after Roe V Wade, by a constitutional amendment. It has now become the status quo and harder to reverse.

There is also the Dr./patient relationship - should government be in the middle of that? I think Abortion should be rare-I think the majority of the people still believe that.

However, it gets dicey when talking about life of the mother, rape, or incest. How dare the government, or some man feel that they should decide how the victim handles that situation. This is the way young women especially feel.

Should those circumstances be left to the government or other outside groups, or should that decision be between the woman, her Dr. and her God?

Abortion has been and continues to be a Holocaust that we need to fight, but that fight should start with those that most Americans agree are wrong ie inconvenience, sex of the child, late term etc. Learn from the left - they have been marching toward socialism a little bite at a time for 100 years.

Men need to quit taking the bait on the issue of abortion for life of the mother, rape, or incest. These are a small % of abortions - but every woman fears that she could someday be in that position - hence it is a powerful issue preying on fear.

Men should simply say they pray that no one ever has to face such a horrible situation, point out that they are not Solomon or God, and are willing to allow women in general, and their spouses and children in particular to make that call, while keeping in mind that the real criminal is the rapist-not the baby.

Then they need to pivot back to the larger issue or change the subject.

I hope that explains it. I am not saying that I think the innocent baby should be aborted, I would hope that my daughters would realize that, but never would I presume to tell them what their decision should be.

I would remind them that the baby is innocent, tell them to pray for guidance, and that I will be praying for them in their time of need, but ultimately they have a choice - God gives us free will after all to choose his path or some other. Eternal damnation awaits those who choose the wrong path.

I have both religious and political reasons for last night’s loss.

Since no king is raised or lowered without God’s approval, then it is entirely legitimate to think in terms of religious history when looking at this election. My personal opinion long has been that Jehoshaphat is the correct parallel for this age. His unholy alliances sowed seeds of future disaster for his nation.

On the political side, I believe the Romney victory in the primary is entirely attributable to his huge money advantage over all his competitors, so saying “They couldn’t even beat him.” is a lot like spurning me because I can’t compete financially with Bill Gates. It’s true, of course, that I can’t, but when is such a comparison appropriate?

In terms of the race, Romney was too timid. He did not engage on the most important issues, and when a hot one was dropped right in his lap, Benghazi, he failed to pick it up. Obama, of course, had no problem using Hurricane Sandy.

In terms of running mate, I’m fairly sure that Romney chose him to provide a 2nd path to victory. That was a reasonable thought. It didn’t work out because Ryan was unable to win his own state, a long-time Democratic stronghold. Romney’s thought was shallow, though, because he should have asked himself which of his home states he expected to win.

One has to wonder if hard-working Senator Rob Portman from Ohio had a better chance to deliver Ohio. I’m certain that Rubio would have delivered Florida and a lot of Hispanics nationwide. I can only think that Rubio turned Romney down or perhaps Rubio didn’t want to go through the birther gauntlet. Even Susana Martinez of New Mexico could have lessened his woman problems and Hispanic problems.

My guess is it was the alternative route theory that won the day. That’s OK. It was wrong, but it was OK.

I’m convinced that the Michael Barones of the political world have bloated resumes. He, Morris, Rove and their like were wrong or were soothsaying. Wrong I can forgive. But, if they were being “reassuring” for political reasons, then I seriously resent it. I want the facts, and people who purport to traffic in facts need to be held to a higher standard. That goes for Rasmussen, Gallup, and others.

Apparently, the D+6 turnout model appeared to be the correct one, and the pollsters we love to hate were right, and we were wrong.

The future of this nation hinges on how quickly it goes into depression, because a fiscal cliff is coming. They are gambling that huge tax increases will bring in the revenue to hold off that day of reckoning, but those are economy killers, not economy growers. Besides, they will be sucked up into the new ObamaCare expenses that are, last I heard, something like 2.5 trillion more than CBO originally (and politically) projected.

Tough times, serfdom, and a hopeless future might be enough to drive this nation to its knees once again.

Its hope is Providence. May His guiding hand be merciful as judgment is exacted on the American nation.

The spiritual aspect is interesting, and I find it hard to mix a discussion of that with a secular discussion of political winds. Having said that, a freak Hurricane hitting New Jersey in late late October? Really?

Sounds like more than mere coincidence to me....

I do, too, but review 2 Chronicles 17-20 (thereabouts). It's fascinating reading. Both Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, and the prophets remind us that a religious/secular discussion might be long overdue.

To they extent that Sandy might have been a gift to Obama, couldn't we say the same about Benghazi and Romney.

Imagine it as a test for each man and then measure their response to the gift dropped in their laps.

Romney got a bigtime fumble in the red zone and didn't try to convert even though he was down points in the 4th quarter. He took the knee on 4 snaps.

Sandy was a shift in the wind for your team in the 4th quarter. Obama ran his kicker onto the field for fieldgoals time and again so long as the wind was at their backs.

Religion, Politics, and Football. What could be more American? :>)

Interesting analogy. Yes, Romney took a knee on Benghazi, Ryan took a knee on what economy Obama “inherited,” and Romney took a knee on bin Laden.

All told by consultants that they must do so not to “upset” the precious moderates. Thus, truth died on each issue. In fact, the entire spirit of the Age is the Death of Truth. Axelrod is the living embodiment of the opposite of the truth.

the truth died

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2956318/posts

This is what I put out early this AM after waking up in a funk. (Had a root canal today....seriously...:>)

I think it ties into "the truth died" although its focus is timidity.

I do believe our smart guys and pollsters were playing soothsayer to the populace for the republican party. What good are they if they aren't annoyingly truthful? If the enemy is approaching from the south, I don't want my intel guys telling me the enemy is a hundred miles off. Making me feel good doesn't help me at all. It robs me of the ability to at least try to react.

That’s what I’ve said...next time we nominate a real conservative who is part educator, part salesman or saleswomen. But if we lose, what then? Say the country chooses another radical leftist who presses for more socialism. Which the Dem voters eagerly lap up. How long do we tolerate that? If more than half the country loves socialism, give them half the country. We’ll take the other half. I don’t want to live in a socialist America.

We can't educate these fools. They are the majority now. The only way to turn them is to cut off the spigot that feeds the trough from which they feed.

I really didn't think this election was going to turn out like this, but over the last 4 years I started looking at relocating my business. In September I went to Panama and spent time in Boquete and Panama City. Believe it or not, but their economy is growing at a 10% clip and they are doing so much business with the canal they are adding a 3rd canal to handle larger ships. I'm just a small investor/manager but I'll be damned if I'm going to let my life's work be controlled by a bunch of "ne'er do wells".

For the foreseeable future, until the collapse of the dollar and the institution of our own Weimar Republic, the American electorate will feed at the trough and continue to elect politicians that promise them more and more hog feed.

They will ask for more from the public trough as the economy stagnates never thinking about their role in it.

What's going to happen is business growth will slow because of the taxes and regulation. More and more 30 hr a week or less jobs will be created and fewer salaried positions because of obamacare. Unemployment will stay between 7.5-8.5% because the energy sector will dry up and housing will slow. Our birth rate will continue as it has for the last 4 years with a rate of 1.8. IOW, we will be like France.
