(Vanity) Post Office clerk: "I voted for Obama because Romney will shut down my post office."
Self | Tuesday, November 6, 2012 | Jyotishi

I visited the post office after voting this morning. I asked the clerk at the counter if he had already voted. He told me that he had and that the lines were long. Then he said that he voted for Obama because Romney will shut down his post office if he gets elected! The height of Obama's false propaganda seems to have no limit.

They need to teach proper interaction with customers before they let a person work in the post office. The gal here in our local post office is about as rude as I have ever known. She has no conversation at all with customers, no ‘thank you’ or have a good day from her. I do my best to purchase my stamps at another post office for that reason.

I worked here for 13 years as a rural carrier & bent over backwards to please all my customers. It is disgusting who they hire these days.

My brother was a postmaster in a rural CA town, and then was involved with postmaster politics. He is extremely conservative and cast his vote for RR.

“THIS is a great reason to vote FOR Romney. I live in a small town with an extremely convenient P.O., but I won’t care if they shut it down. Personally, I wish they would stop Saturday delivery and maybe deliver only MWF every week.”

hmm I’m the opposite, I guess because I’m in NYC. Our PO has long lines and slow service. I would like to end the PO monopoly so that we could have Sunday delivery.

Yeah, just as soon as Romney outlaws contraception, throws my granny over the cliff, send Blacks out to work in his fields, and outsources every US factory to China. It’s discouraging to see the utter goofballism that drives most single-issue voters. I mean, Romney’s biggest problem is whether he wants the grannys to pile up on the dead women or the postal clerks he will be throwing over the cliff. Of course, if he has Black slaves sorting out the bodies at the bottom of the cliff, then I don’t really see the problem.

What a great recommendation for Romney! This Post Office employee just admitted that his job could be eliminated because its not needed and the taxpayer is not getting the service for which they are paying. The Post Office is bloated and full of employees that would not be there if not for affirmative action and a bureaucracy.

Having a PO, or least PO roads, is Constitionally mandated. If the fedgov would cut the nonsense that it’s not mandated to perform, (i.e. energy dept,) then there’d be more money for the PO.

Business for the USPS being what it’s been for a long time, that office may be be getting closed no matter who gets elected.

That’s funny - they must have sent an internal memo out to Postal Employees spewing that nonsense: I had a postal worker tell me the same exact thing today.

As a postal worker myself, I can assure you that no such thing has occurred. Are there a bunch of ignorant folks spouting this nonsense in the USPS?

Yes, there are, but their ignorance hasn't been ginned up by management (who collectively couldn't find their own posteriors given the use of both hands, a map, a compass, a Global Positioning System, and a seeing-eye-dog)...

No, the culprit *here* isn't postal management, but the *other* management at USPS namely the management at APWU, NALC, et al. In short, "the usual suspects"...

Treason, like Benghazi, ACORN, Fast & Furious or leaking classified info to the press?

Which one?

I am a contract mail carrier, and let me tell you...if you want to know what an idiot looks like, just go take a look at ANY Postmaster in any state in the union. They pay them to be dumb!

I think they should close post offices. Perhaps initiate mini-PO’s...like a 100sq.ft corner in a drug store, etc. Could probably eliminate 1000’s of buildings that way.

Then you are totally unaware of the sequestration process that begins shortly and puts most federal government employees on the street indefinitely.

THEY AREN'T UNAWARE OF IT. They know this is all Obama's work, and if he isn't defeated it's unlikely it will be changed.

I was told that I could not talk about politics at the post office because of the Hatch Act?

Personally, I wish they would stop Saturday delivery and maybe deliver only MWF every week.

Well, I'm a postal clerk and will vote for Romney as will my Postmaster and the rural carrier. Most of the postal employees in this red area of upstate New York are Republican -- for what that's worth.

As far as ending Saturday delivery [not to mention your suggestion of cutting Tuesday and Thursday, too,] nothing would be saved. Saturday is not a low mail volume day; and Monday is already the heaviest just because of the volume built up without Sunday delivery.

The extra help needed to sort and deliver the accumulated mail over an entire weekend would wipe out any savings from ending Saturday deliveries.

The Postal Service can certainly cut expenses --it already is; some 30,000 employees took early retirement at the end of July -- but cutting deliveries won't do it.

Ending the ridiculous requirment that the USPS pay $5 billion/year in future pension costs would do the trick neatly, though. Oh, and ending Congressional oversight would help, too. Outlawing the shipment of tobacco and alcohol have cost the USPS hundreds of millions in revenue.
