(Vanity) Post Office clerk: "I voted for Obama because Romney will shut down my post office."
Self | Tuesday, November 6, 2012 | Jyotishi

I visited the post office after voting this morning. I asked the clerk at the counter if he had already voted. He told me that he had and that the lines were long. Then he said that he voted for Obama because Romney will shut down his post office if he gets elected! The height of Obama's false propaganda seems to have no limit.

THIS is a great reason to vote FOR Romney. I live in a small town with an extremely convenient P.O., but I won’t care if they shut it down. Personally, I wish they would stop Saturday delivery and maybe deliver only MWF every week.

I’m a Fed and most Feds vote on one issue. Which candidate will help me keep working here. No secret who they favor. :-(

translation: Obama will steal more of your money so that I’ll be able to stay here playing solitaire eight hours a day until I qualify for my pension.

You should have said “No, sir. Your fat pensions that the average worker can’t get and the internet is going to close the post office.”

The utter stupidity of the electorate never fails to amaze me, including (sadly) some of my own family members!

That’s funny - they must have sent an internal memo out to Postal Employees spewing that nonsense: I had a postal worker tell me the same exact thing today. You can’t fix stupid, but apparently these idiots believe you can keep a failed business model afloat by printing money......

If only that were really true. I would drive to wherever it is you live, pay for the gas, and volunteer to have the honor of padlocking the place.

The guy was obviously told this by his union leadership. Here’s the deal though....there’s a massive number of post offices around the nation that will be closed by December 2013. If you spent your life working for them....and are in your late 40’s....you’ve got a problem.

No one much cares to hire a 45-year old ex-postal guy....except FEDEX. And their deal is simple....you actually show up and work. No big deals on pensions....just a decent 401K deal.

As I finished high school...my dad worked the local rural route and tried desperately to get me work sign up to the Post Office. Within ten years....I would have had his route. Over the past ten years...it’s been a yearly thing to cut back and limit pay increases. The rural route game is a loser today. I’m glad I saw the light...signed up for the Air Force instead.

I had an early IHOP supper after voting in our largely white town, where the entirely black waitstaff were loudly discussing their candidate. One of them said that all the rich people in New York were just letting their hurricane-struck neighbors suffer (I patiently explained how their Mayor Bloomberg is in charge of who gets help, where and when, and that he prevented the National Guard from entering) — and that criticizing President Obama is “treason”!

I did not waste my breath on that last one. Wonder if she will still believe it in January, after Willard Romney is inaugurated?

You know, right now that would be yet another reason for me to vote for Mitt. I ordered a memory card for my camera online last Monday the 28th. The order was processed and shipped within 2 hours. The USPS has had it in their tender mercies ever since. Estimated delivery date from the seller was 1 Nov. Still no sign of it. The tracking link in the confirmation email shows it has been literally bouncing around the Country for over a week now - initially headed over 1000 miles the wrong way, then back this way...

From now on anything, anything I order online I will only do so if I can get UPS or Fed-Ex shipping. USPS is completely unreliable.

The Post Office would actually determine which offices would close, if any, based on their own internals. No President micromanages the Post Office on that level.

Besides hasn’t the PO already said a number of Post Offices are closing anyway, under Obama?

No, running deficits year after year, while the private sector keeps making profits, is going to shut your post office down.
