President Urges Supporters to “Take Revenge” against Romney
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 3 Nov 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 11/03/2012 2:09:27 PM PDT by John Semmens

In a campaign stop in Ohio President Obama urged supporters to “take revenge” against Romney next Tuesday.

Asked what might be the justification for vengeance Obama campaign spokesperson Stephanie Cutter explained that “Romney has caused a lot of people a lot of pain in this election campaign. Voters should have no doubt that he plans to undo much of the progress the Obama Administration has achieved over the last four years.”

“His whole ‘get people back to work’ promise would re-enslave the millions President Obama’s policies have liberated from the drudgery of having to go to a job every week,” Cutter said. “Being pushed into a job may be fine for those willing and able to work, but what about those who are unwilling or unable? Those with an underdeveloped work ethic will be the big losers under a Romney Administration. The President is just trying to remind these people to make the minimal effort to vote lest they be faced with the more more arduous task of having to work for a living should Obama lose the election.”

Unpersuaded that simply voting against Romney—even multiple times—will be sufficient, some Obama supporters are endeavoring to induce neighbors to reelect the President in order to prevent them from rioting. As one twitter put it, “we will make the Rodney King riot look like a Sunday School picnic.”

Stop posting your garbage here. It is not clever and it is not humorous. The nation is on the precipace of ruin. These are serious times for sober people. Leave FR. Go. Get out.

Funny stuff! But the truth is that the words of a POTUS carry a lot of weight and his supporters will take his remarks about "revenge" seriously after he loses and seek ways to act it out. 0coward has been a divider all along...

Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, ... asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.” - Nov. 7, 2009

His revenge statement should hopefully cancel out the bump from Christie kissing his butt.

“The nation is on the precipace of ruin.”

I hate to be a spelling Nazi but shouldn’t that be “prepuce”?

What is a “precipace”? Is it bad to be on the “precipace” of ruin or good to be on the “precipace” of ruin?

” President Obama’s policies have liberated from the drudgery of having to go to a job every week”

WTF? So EBT cards and food stamps are liberating? These freaks are more delusional than I can comprehend. There is nothing more liberating than being self sufficient

Yes, well, that will teach me not to type posts on an Ipad.

However, the problem with the "Spelling Nazis" is that we all make spelling errors - and if that is the main retort then this place devolves into the Mean Girls 8th grade cafeteria lunch table. It becomes pointless. "You made a spelling error!".......... "Oh yeah! Well YOU made one too!"

To the point at hand, I am not the first Freeper to strongly disagree with Semmens' posts. You all can look up his threads and see that other Freepers have in the past wondered aloud why these posts are permitted sandwiched right in between all the other serious news that is published here?

I will share with you all that I have engaged in private messages with Semmens where I urged him to tone down the FR equivalent of bait and switch. I won't betray private message chapter and verse here, as it is inappropriate to do so.

However, I will share the gist of my complaint to him. I enjoy satire as much as the next person. The posts by Iowahawk are a FR classic (and are incredibly hilarious). But, any reader sifting between posts obviously sees (right away) that they are witty satire. Semmens appears to enjoy "reeling people in."

There is a Biblical prohibition to this kind of behavior. That, I will quote here:

"Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”

Proverbs 26: 18-19

Semmens reminds me of the guy who pulls fast ones on people, and when the reaction is negative, that guy exclaims: "Hey!!! I was only pullin' yur chain!"

Furthermore, with this post, he makes light of what is now the front page on Drudge, and all over the country. Obama's unscripted line about taking "revenge" on Romney.

The UK Mail has this to say about this very serious subject:

In just five words, Obama handed Romney a potentially significant opportunity in the waning days of the campaign. The utterance has underlined why every Obama campaign speech is tightly scripted and delivered using a teleprompter. The ‘voting is the best revenge’ slip was virtually the only time during the speech that Obama ventured away from the script he saw before him on the teleprompter. Put on the spot about the remark, which has been seized on by Romney and turned into an attack ad by his campaign, Jen Psaki, Obama’s travelling campaign spokeswoman, said – according to a White House pool report - that Obama had been speaking in the context of Romney’s ‘scare tactics’ in Ohio. So here we are, on the eve of a nail biting and crucial election, and once again sandwiched in between the news posts is the "I was just pullin' yur chain!" post by Semmens.

I know most of you don't share my sentiment. That's what the forum is for - you have your opinions and you share them. So do I.

If my language seemed strident, then I do apologize for that. But, I am not the one making these posts that appear like minefields to be surveyed while sifting through the news posts.

If I ran this place (and we all know I don't), I would install a FR filter that automatically moves posts like Semmens' to chat or some other category.

"Thems" my views.

My wife and I are watching mitt in Colorado right now. Mitt just gave his speech about obamas revenge. My wife hadn’t heard about the revenge thing and jumped out of her chair. I just thought it was partisan bs, but I guess women don’t like it. She said it wasn’t presidential.
