Posted on 11/01/2012 7:10:18 PM PDT by markomalley
With the election only days away and the Big Bird and binders jokes played out, the mainstream media seems willing at last to mention the word Benghazi. Eli Lake of Newsweek and the Daily Beast today passed along his sources claim that the State Department never requested military backup, and now ABCs Jake Tapper has penned a blog post called The Benghazi Drip-Drip-Drip. Strange, really, considering that as a part of ABC News, Tapper is better positioned than most to open that tap and let the information flow.
Some help from the president would be appreciated, though. Tapper begins by recounting how the president either didnt hear or flat out ignored a question shouted last night by ABC Newss Mary Bruce about when he would begin to provide answers to the numerous questions building up about what exactly what went wrong in Benghazi, Libya.
To a public hungry for any sort of answers on Benghazi, what little recap Tapper does provide is greatly appreciated. Too little, too late, perhaps, but its something. Um, thanks?
@jaketapper yeah!!! You guys at ABC are finally gonna cover Benghazi welcome to the party.

@jaketapper Will this be on ABC News tonight? With no pressure from MSM this will just drip until everyone loses interest. Obama knows that

@jaketapper When are "reporters" going to hold his feet to the fire? Wednesday?
marccarpenter (@marccarpenter3) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper That's well and good, but when is ABC going to run some real news about #benghazi on TV? Rep Pres would be hounded endlessly.
Habib Jones (@habib2001) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper run out the clock, acceptable? Not to the American people. #Benghazi

@KatMcKinley @jaketapper Please get this story prominence in nightly news broadcasts-this is serious stuff-it should be featured on the air.

@jaketapper re: tinyurl.com/as55buk Glad you are on this. Problem w/ WH statement is they said a video caused the attack.
Carl Frei (@CarlFrei1) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper They FINALLY cut you lose on this? You da man! Now ask #WhereWasBarack during #7hoursofhell in #Benghazi tinyurl.com/9ju7f5o
Mike's Corner (@MikesOpine) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper just a question: Why does Obama need a "rigorous investigation" to answer questions about his own knowledge and actions?
SquatchPride69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper Very nice to read, but would LUV to hear the word "Benghazi" uttered from Diane Sawyer's mouth, JUST ONCE!
Sharon Dyer (@SHARHAIR) November 01, 2012
WH not answering detailed questions until after Election Day, it seems RT @jaketapper The Benghazi Drip-Drip-Drip > tinyurl.com/as55buk
Rick Klein (@rickklein) November 01, 2012
Staying quiet until after the election? Oh, you think so?
@ABC @jaketapper Finally some questions asked by media other than @FoxNews #abouttime
Stephanie Stricklin (@suncrabgrits) November 01, 2012
@hughhewitt @jaketapper would have been nice to see the protracted blame the video stance addressed.
Darryl Rich (@Arkydee) November 01, 2012
@ABC @jaketapper so why did carney and rice say it was spontaneous and because of a video when intel said it was a terrorist attack?
Janet stamatelis (@janetstamatelos) November 01, 2012
If @jaketapper and others now reporting on #Benghazi turns part of Sunday's shows into Benghazi Gate then it will def hurt Obama #p2 #tcot
Gary (@garyalan82) November 01, 2012
@ABC @jaketapper Okay, now Can we see some investigative reporting on #Benghazi? You know how. Just act like Bush was the president!
PCW6886 (@PamWiltz) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper Then get busy Jake. You're way behind the curve on #Benghazi. Emails, eye witness accts, dead Americans, et al
Ron Elliott (@Beaverman87) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper I thought you of all people would be all over the #Benghazi coverup and lies. Don't let us down.
Dana Willis (@dbwillis1) November 01, 2012
@jaketapper defending his man (BHO) in latest article. Be honest jake, if this was in last admin, how hard would you go after Bush?
Clint Cormier (@ClintCormier) November 01, 2012
@oldhickory49 @jaketapper I have hope for Jake. We all know he can be great when he chooses. Wanted him 2 blow doors open on #BenghaziGate.

Tapper has managed to rally quite a cheerleading section from just one blog post. Just imagine what a few specific questions directed toward the administration could do.
@jaketapper come on Jake you can hit harder than that take it to him those families need the truth. Rally your reporter friends. Be the one!

Tapper might not be the only one finally tuning in to Benghazi. ABCs Devin Dwyer today asked Jay Carney about the presidents involvement in the investigation.
On Air Force One today, White House press secretary Jay Carney was asked by ABC News how closely the President is reading and following the media reports about what went wrong in Benghazi.
Is he engaged in the investigation and receiving updates on the investigation, or is he waiting until its complete? ABC News Devin Dwyer asked.
Carney noted that since the investigations are being conducted by both the FBI and the Accountability Review Board the president himself is not participating in the investigation. He is anticipating results that show us exactly what happened, who was responsible and what lessons we can learn from it in terms of how we ensure that it never happens again.
With Election Day so close, more and more voters seem to be learning how they can ensure this sort of debacle never happens again under a second Obama term.
Jake is a bit slow, I bet half of us freepers have been using “drip, drip, drip” for days now
Tapper punked out. Journolist won out over journalist.
We all know that in order to cross the Border with help the President had to agree,.
He didn’t, and he let those people die.
What else needs to be investigated?
A newspaper that can’t be posted here has a scathing editorial. You can find it on Twitchy.
The Las Vegas something or other. Says Obama is unfit to be commander in chief. Scathing.
Who should be named as the Special Prosecutor on the Benghazi Coverup?
Name one on Saturday, and the talk shows on Sunday would have a field day. Well, except for the boycotting MSNBC talking heads, of course.
Tapper has wimped out.
That is one AWESOME graphic!!!!!
Awful that the freaking Commander-In-Chief failed these 4 though.
I have had many convos with Jake on Twitter in the past. I no longer Tweet from my old handle. Yeah, he’s a Liberal but I think there is hope for him.
I like him.
As liberal journalists go, he seems like one who actually wants to be fair and balanced sometimes
On Twitter, he convinced me to read one of his early books. It was about the Bush-Gore recount. I got it at the library but did not agree with pretty much any part of it.
But he appears to be a man who prides himself on truth. Truth is fungible depending on our beliefs. He appears, especially as his career progresses, to be open to the opposition’s side.
not many liberals/journalists are open to the other side these days
