Newt: Mitt needs a better message, and he should stop saying Obama cares about the middle class

Newt was on CNN earlier today and said that he believes Romney hasn’t found a theme that really resonates with people yet, which is why he isn’t doing better ins states like Florida and Ohio, both of which have Republican governors. Bu he doesn’t believe it’s the candidate or anything else for that matter, he simply believes that it is message, that Romney needs to draw sharper lines between he and Obama and really hammer the differences in a way that makes sense to people.

He was also critical of an ad Romney released this morning, where Romney said that both he and Obama care about the middle class. Newt said he just doesn’t understand why Mitt is saying that:

Along with Romney's comments on Romneycare:( we do not need anymore compassionate conservatives. Romney should heed a little of Newt's advice on Obama and point out that Obama is destroying the middle class.

I, frankly, was just startled by the ad you just showed a minute ago in which Romney is in a sense embracing Obama – ‘we both care about the middle class’ – I don’t know why he’s saying that. If President Obama cared about the middle class, why did the price of gasoline go to an all time high? If President Obama cared about the middle class, why do we have the largest debt in American history that the middle class is going to pay on for the rest of their life time? I mean if President Obama cared about the middle class, why have we had the longest period of unemployment since the great depression?

Heaping praise on your opponent is a stupid thing to do.

McCain for example

Yes he needs to get on message! Play off Obama’s hate MILLIONAIRES theme.

Start the ad off of rich people partying - jetting off to Spain, London and Hawaii - THE RICH CEO!! Aren’t you just tired of RICH people?? Instead of showing fat cat Romney show video of MILLIONAIRES yes I said MILLIONAIRES Michelle and Barack Obama partying down while the “Company” aka the USA credit rating crashes.

HIJACK BARACKS MESSAGE OF RICH PEOPLE ARE EVIL!
They are waging class warfare but letting the free media pass exempt them from the truth! The Ubamas are millionaires.

If Obama cared about the middle class then why would he be against economic growth policies that would reduce unemployment and raise family incomes. No he wants to grow the lower classes and shrink the middle class. He wants a large dependency class of useful idiot voters.

I thought romney had some desire to win... he apparently does not. To win at anything you do not give your opponent any quarter, you focus on differential advantages and exploit them, you are relentless.

romney is apparently not any or much of these things.

In 2008 and earlier the Obama’s railed against “middle class-ism”

They do not care about the middle class.

Romney’s liberal North East U.S. advisers / handlers - most of them are liberal elitist - or are RNC/GOP Elitist - and are so far out of touch with reality that they live on the moon... their mantra -— “obama has failed”... “obama is just not experienced”... “obama is well intended but wrong” and other Romney Team Blather is so far off target that it is tragic - because it is not funny. obama knows exactly what he is doing ... obama is taking apart the United States of America piece by piece ... driving America into a Third World existence to punish us for our Imperial Colonist past ... so we must be brought down to a Third World level ... obama is about LEVELING the USA .... for punishment

and he should stop saying Obama cares about the middle class

Gotta agree with Gingrich on that. It is too much like McCain's 'he really is a nice guy.'

Romney and Ryan need to keep putting Obama on the defensive, instead of them defending Obama.

I don’t know what to think here. On one hand, we all love the way Newt can bring it. I love it. We need it right now.

On the other hand, there is this really squishy five percent of people in the middle who voted Bush because of “compassionate conservatism” and senior prescription drug benefits. I knew some of these people. They were Clinton voters and later Obama voters. But they voted Bush in the interim.

I think Romney wants to go after these people. They aren’t you or me and we don’t understand them, but they buy into this crap. Not saying it will work for Romney, but I think I know what he’s trying to do here.

Romney would be well served to pay attention to Newt. I think Romney is afraid of being seen as nasty since the media jumps on anything he says and puts it in a negative light. That backfired on McCain who was consistently was backed into defending Obama by his media friends in 2008. They are doing the same thing to Romney.

Romney had no problem going negative in the primaries. Where is the fire? He can use Obama’s own words in the ads and it would be far more effective than anything someone could write. I would love to see the internal polling because it must be much better than the crap we are being served daily. His seemingly passive campaign does not make sense unless his internal polling is telling him he is winning.

Romney channeled McCain today. I can’t take it anymore.

He better take Newt’s advice. Should probably even hire Newt to coach him about debates and media

People like Newt need to to stop believing these stupid skewed polls put out there by Democrats.

Everyone knows these polls are weighted at least 9 percent democrat and not even likely voters.

Only the dumbed down voter trusts Gallup, ABC, etc, even FOX. These polls are used by the media to help the boss stay in power.

I guess Newt’s still frosted over his loss. Sorry, but there’s no way he would have won. Either he trusts these polls, or he’s using them to jab Romney.

If it’s the latter, shame on him, he isn’t seeing what’s at stake here. Newt could have helped us get rid of this communist, instead, he’s all about self.
