Love American Style: Polygamy gets Sizzle

"We should strive to have it legalized"

Is polygamy becoming the new “gay” movement in America?

[Cast of "Sister Wives"]

With television shows such as HBO’s “Big Love” and TLC’s “Sister Wives,” polygamy is the once-taboo lifestyle that appears to be gaining wider acceptance – especially on the heels of homosexual marriage victories across the nation.

... the website Pro-Polygamy.com declared Aug. 19 the 12th annual Polygamy Day. According to the site, since it began, “the annual celebration grew into a widespread and religiously-neutral individual celebration around the country among all forms of consenting-adult pro-polygamists.”

Historically, polygamy has had little support in the U.S. since the Republican Party in 1854 declared it, along with slavery, one of the “twin relics of barbarism,” and Congress banned it in 1862.

However, recent decisions of activist judges that thrust homosexual marriage on the American public are now being used, chapter and verse, to argue for legalization of polygamy...

...While homosexual activists haven’t been as quick to endorse polygamy, the Brown family of TLC’s “Sister Wives” recently told Fox News they wholeheartedly support homosexual marriage.

“It is something I have thought about a lot, and I feel very blessed that I have been able to chose love and the life that I want to live and be married to the people that I want to be married to,” husband Kody Brown said. “It’s not for me to decide or stop anyone else from marrying the person they love.”

"Societal acceptance of homosexual marriage and polygamy"

Some argue polygamy will follow the same path to societal acceptance that the homosexual marriage movement has paved...

We are in trouble.

A list of countries where polygamy is legal, and exists even if not legal:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_polygamy#North_America

An excerpt:

United States: The practice is illegal in all 50 states.[17]

Over a century ago, citizens of the self-governing
territory of what is present-day Utah were forced by the
United States federal government to abandon the practice
of polygamy through the vigorous enforcement of several
Acts of Congress. They eventually complied. The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints formally abolished the
practice in 1890, in a document labeled ‘The
Manifesto’.[18][19] Among American Muslims, a small
minority of around 50,000 to 100,000 people are currently
in illegal polygamous relationships.[17]

Yes, this has been a slippery slope and it’s frightening.

Unfortunately, some liberal Republicans can't say he/she drew the line protecting normal marriage and family. After supporting gay foster care and adoption, now they are going to say it's wrong permit the ones who “love” multiple wives to adopt and foster kids?

Some perverts “love” other people's the kiddos. Some “love” their nieces, nephews, sons and daughters. Others “love” horses, cows and goats. Some are attracted to violent sex. It makes them happy and it is their sexual orientation. It's how they ‘love” if permit homos to name love an orgasm.

This is why you can permit the radical homos to demolish the meaning of marriage and family to refashion it to their whim. Even if some are too stupid to understand the complexity of the subject and who are easily taken in by fabulous slogans/propaganda, we can't go along with it.

“Unfortunately, some liberal Republicans can’t say he/she drew the line protecting normal marriage and family.”

You’re absolutely right, but I don’t think that this battle over homo marriage is the starting point, as most people seem to assume. This all goes back to our country relaxing the divorce laws to the point where traditional marriage is a legal joke. We killed off the institution ourselves long before the homos came along, like vultures, to pick at the corpse.

In the old testament, polygamy was not only allowed, but required under a specific application of the law. Homosexuality however was and always has been an abomination, punishable by death.

Therefore, I have far less issue with polygamists than homosexuals. Remember, the punishment for polygamists is multiple mother-in-laws.

Ha, that’s some punishment! I barely survived one. ;-) But yes, one can argue that polygamy still rests on the duality of nature and the 2 sexes, and is fruitful, and biblical. All true.

Muslims in Egypt I think made it legal to have sex with your wife up to six hours after her death.

Very interesting read. Thanks for posting. This is an inevitable thing to follow with the push to legalize homosexual marriage. I’ve said this for a long time, and I’ve brought it up in debates with liberals. They either completely skirt around it or say it won’t happen. When they say it won’t happen, they define marriage as between two consenting adults. I then bring up incest which is either skirted around or they say they are opposed because of possible birth defects in children. I tell them, you can’t redefine marriage for one group on the grounds of consenting adults, love, equal rights, and freedom, but not another group. Once you redefine marriage once, there is no reason not to do it again for another group falling into the aforementioned categories. This literally opens us up to incest, polygamy, polyandry, and group marriage. When marriage comes to mean everything, in reality, it means nothing.

Funny, considering that everywhere that queer marriage has been put to a vote, society (we, the people) has rejected it.

Polygamy will mean in essence one thing: Islamic harems. And Islamic harems = the end of women’s rights. We warned you that gay marriage was opening a Pandora’s box of things liberals Will Not Like. But as Solzhenitsyn said, “When it happens to you, you’ll know it’s true.”

Plus, we’ll have the same thing they get in the UK: the “wives” in these “unions” will all go on government benefits, meaning that the “husband” will pocket huge welfare checks.

Yup. Moloch - the god of “Pro-Choice” and devourer of infants.
The Catholics ought excommnicate ALL “pro-choice” Catholics as Moloch worshippers.

I believe the position of the Catholic church is that all “pro-choice” Catholics have already excommunicated themselves.

On average, under normal conditions, the ratio of female births to mae births is about 51/49 percent.

In the muslim world, where polygamy is widely accepted and practiced, this leads to a small group of “winners” who have multiple wives and a large and discontent group of “losers” who have no oppurtunity for marriage. This second group festers, seethes, and rages. The first group deflects their rage to the outside world rather than make any attempt to correct problems or injustices in their socities. Why shouldn’t they? They are the ones sitting atop the dung heap with control of the resources.

Allowing polygamy here will have the same effect here as elsewhere, even if it would take generations before it was noticed.
