That is a very popular talking point among liberal Jews, that Christians only support Israel because they want Rapture to occur and all the Jews die and become Christians.

LOL! Where did you get that idea? Jesus Christ casme to earh as a Jew. As a Biblical Christian, I rarely think about a rapture. When the Son of God returns to earth His believees will rise to meet Him. Unless a Jew accepts Jesus as his Messiah before he dies, he will not become a Christian upon his death.
There is a very good book out I suggest every unbeliever read, “23 Minutes in Hell”, by Bill Wiese.
That would be a great beginning for earnest seekers of truth.
The position that seems most logical to me is that G-d promised Abraham that he would look after his people. Jesus may be the path for Gentiles but the original Covenant with the Jews still stands. To suggest otherwise is to suggest that G-d breaks his promises does it not?

Not that I agree one bit with this idiot from the DNC (idiot and DNC, is that redundant?), but come on! There is this thing known as history, and it doesn’t support the notion that Christians have been much more tolerant of Jews than Jews have been of Christians.
I was reading “Attila, the Barbarian King” yesterday and one part was an account of a community of Jewish glass makers, attacked and killed by Christian Romans. Not very tolerant.
There is no different path: Jesus is the only path. At the end of the world, in His second coming, he will finally be recognized as the Messiah by all peoples including his own.
He will fulfill all the Biblical promises to the Jewish people and welcome all the righteous Gentiles into his kingdom as well.

After the 16th century until the 20th they became more an Eastern than a Western phenomenon.
I would point out that many of these attacks in the medieval West were carried out against existing law and by groups that were rebelling against the institutional Church as well as the secular government - and this was due in large part to the way secular governments manipulated their Jewish subjects and encouraged scapegoating them.
America however, while not perfect, has about as good a record on this front as any Western nation can claim.

You are right to correct me; I overstated my position. Most conservatives are pro-freedom and pro-Israel, but you are correct that the taint of this bigotry is present in both parties. The difference is that it seems to be a majority and the Dem convention, and it is far less prevalent among republicans.
I think it supports the notion that when one group has the upper hand over another group, then they will abuse that group unless they live in a society that cherishes the rule of law.
Because of historical developments, Christians have long had the upper hand position and therefore have had much more opportunity to be intolerant. And they have definitely taken advantage of that opportunity.
I do not believe that one group - given the power of life and death over the other group - would necessarily act more virtuously than its counterpart.
Human nature applies to all humans.
Hard to argue with that!
But the history is that Jews have had little power to persecute massmurder or ghetto-ize Christians over the last two thousand years. There is scant support for the notion that Christians have been more tolerant of Jews than Jews have been of Christians.
I don’t like the word tolerance anyway. I respect a Jewish person’s religious liberty, I don’t tolerate it.

Where did I suggest otherwise? I said they would not become Christians at their death. I believe I am correct. God never breaks a promise!
