TAMPA, Fla. — Police in Tampa stopped a dozen anti-war protesters from entering an event attended by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after the group said it intended to arrest her for war crimes.

The protesters from Code Pink carried handcuffs Tuesday and tried to enter a performing arts center. Rice was attending an event in conjunction with the Republican National Convention. They said they wanted to make a citizen's arrest of Rice. She was George W. Bush's National Security Adviser when the Iraq War started in 2003.

Officers told protesters to leave because they were on private property...

Anybody ever tell Code Stink that the best way to sneak into places isn’t to smell bad for one.

WAR CRIME

The Abu Ghraib scandal was not about torture, abuse, and murder. The coverage of the murder of Gaddafi shows that.

And now they’ll sue law enforcement for unfair profiling of the ugly.

If I was in charge of security, they wouldn’t get within 5 miles of the place. Screw the lawsuits and press.

The police / National Guard / FBI / Secret Service presence is so overwhelming in Tampa right now. At lunch today, I walked all over downtown Tampa looking for protesters. Every street corner has at least 3 cops. I probably saw 1000 LEOs and only a hand full of scruffy looking people who might have been protesters.

There have been very few arrests so far. Yesterday afternoon, some dude decided to lay down in the middle of Kennedy Blvd. A cop sat down on the road next to him and told him that Kennedy was a major road used my EMS to get to the hospital. The protester dude decided to leave peacefully and he wasn’t arrested. The situation was defused nicely.

I expect things to heat up the next two days and nights, but I’m sure they can handle it. An entire jail was emptied just to make room for arrested protesters. Hopefully these bozos will see the light and take their BS to Charlotte.

“My question is: Who gave Code Pink ID and passes for the RNC so they could get into the same room with a former secretary of state? The Secret Service isn’t doing such a great job if those whackjobs are roaming the same halls as Gov. and Mrs. Romney and Rep. and Mrs. Ryan”

It’s all theater. These people are sock puppets.

Too bad the convention is not in Dallas. In 1984, the protestors were relegated to the Trinity River bottom. No air con in August. 104 in the shade.

Next time we might do a bug spray flyover.

If she allowed them to cuff her, could she then sue them for false imprisonment?

Yes. Which is one reason citizens’ arrests are inherently risky.

Wow, thanks for your great observations, and I envy you being down there. I haven’t even had time to watch any of it, but the 2-3mins I saw yesterday showed some LEOs in riot gear, and phalanxes of tan-uniformed LEOs ready for it, if it happens. I also hope the anarchist-POSs take it to the dems’ clusterfest, where it belongs.

I would arrest the group members for threatening mob violence. If they touched her they would be liable for assault and battery, and could be charged with mob violence... I’d hit ‘em with every possible charge I could think of, real or imagined...

I'd say give Condi a Callaway Razr, and turn the pinkos loose.

Game on!

In honor of her recent acceptance at Augusta National, Condi should have hooked a Code Pink head into the left rough with a 9 iron.

IIRC, Condi has martial arts training (in addition to her many other talents). Probably not a good idea to make her mad :-)
