Environmental Group Exaggerates Number of Jobs 'Green' Energy Mandate Would Create
Michigan Capitol Confidential ^ | 8/17/2012 | Tom Gantert

The Michigan Environmental Council exaggerated in a press release the number of jobs that would be created by the renewable energy ballot proposal when it erroneously cited how a Michigan State University report calculated jobs.

The Michigan Environmental Council’s press release said that the Michigan Energy, Michigan Jobs renewable energy ballot proposal would create 74,495 jobs.

However, the report never said it would create 74,495 jobs, but instead said it would create that many "job years." It's an important distinction in economic analysis that the MSU report acknowledges.

For example, a person hired by a green company who worked for that company for 25 years would create 25 "job years," but just one job.

The Environmental Council had no definition of job years in its press release. Officials from the group didn't respond to emails seeking comment.

"They are abusing their report to fit their predetermined agenda," said Jason Gillman, a tea party activist from Traverse City. "There is no question about that. It’s misleading."

Did they also mention the way the count jobs or “job years”?

I understand they double count green jobs. Once for it being a job and once for it being a green job.

If they are doing that then 1 real job = about 50 “job years.” do the math if you want but I am going to take a swap at it and say about 1500 real jobs would be created in reality.

I think it would be wisest to start with the assumption that green jobs are a scam and go from there

If anyone wants to be added to the Michigan Cap Con ping list, let me know.

Hell why pussy foot around. Multiply it by 365 and you could claim you have hired millions of green jobs. Standard accounting practice from the HIDE THE DECLINE party.

Of course they lie; in this case using a new economic term that no one has heard of before. The traditional term “man-year” describes 50 weeks working 40 hours a week with a two week vacation, not one person's career.

Without such lies, how else could they interest the media?

BTW - I am still waiting for icebergs in the Gulf of Mexico as it was forecasted in a mass distribution science magazine shortly after the first “Earth Day”.

Yeah, I heard the whackos already saying the drought is caused by global warming.

The real cause is the orbit of the sun. It’s in a closer orbit to the earth at this time. This is a normal cycle for the planets. God set it up this way.

If you check out a video - “The Privileged Planet”, you can see how the sun’s orbit rotation around the earth fluxuates - thus causing the Earth to be warmer and cooler.

The Earth is perfectly placed in the Universe - a few degrees one way and we would burn up .. a few degees the other way and we would be solid ice.

We are also perfectly placed in order to explore the Universe .. Hmmmmm ..???? Maybe on purpose ..????
