237,000 More Americans Went on Disability Than Dropped Off Of Unemployment Since June 2010
Confounded Interest ^ | 07/06/2012 | Anthony B. Sanders

Obama and Biden must be singing “Summertime Blues” as U6 Unemployment rose to 14.9% from 14.8% in June. The traditional measure of unemployment remained stuck at 8.2%.

Nonfarm payrolls (NFP) rose less than expected at only 80,000 jobs. The expectation was for 100,000 jobs.

It Gets Worse

Since the end of June 2010, how have we done? 28.1 millions Americans have gone on disability while `12.75 million Americans have dropped off on unemployment rolls. That is a net INCREASE of 237,000.

Think this is bad? Wait until the 20+ Obamacare taxes kicks in and the Bush tax cuts expire.

28.1 millions Americans have gone on disability

I think your numbers are completely wrong. the total on disability is 8.7 million

Don’s worry about it.

Forget about the chicken soup, have yourself a big bowl of “ROCK SOUP”, it'll cure everything.

It's clear that many are turning to Disability for income, but it's not that easy to qualify for Social Security Disability. What we're seeing also is that the age of sitting at a computer and the sedentary nature of jobs and personal lifestyle leads to health problems and is catching up with us. Back problems are a huge issue. Thanks, computers! /s

Was just listening to him opine in Poland, Ohio in front of a bunch of blue collar types.

Listening very carefully, I heard him say between the lines .. .”and so that was the ‘bargain’ we had going here in America” — or some such thing.

In other words, for coming to America, just for being an American, there is some supposed BARGAIN — that if you just worked hard enough, you’d be successful, be able to find work, own a home, be prosperous, etc.

I hate to break it to him and his supporters — THERE IS NO BARGAIN in America. There are no guarantees, from God, government, or otherwise. You are given LIFE, LIBERTY and the freedom to pursue happiness. That’s it!!

You might make it. You might not. There is no DEAL of any kind. There is no obligation. American does not OWE anyone and is in no contract to provide ...

This, I believe, is at the heart of how these hapless democrats believe ...that there is some sort of deal and they’re not getting their “due.” And Obama continues to peddle it, also throwing in the race card for good measure.

It’s just crap. And this Entitlement class just laps it up. They’re conditioned to believe it.

I think the writer of this blog is very confounded and needs remedial math classes before continuing to publish his blog.

The U6 rate is what people refer to as the “real” unemployment rate ... versus what the government advertises which is the U-3 rate.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm

The U-3 rate has certain characteristics that cause many conservatives to consider it extremely inaccurate. The most glaring being that once you no longer qualify for unemployment insurance, you are no longer considered unemployed in the U-3 rate, even if you are not working. It is this little caveat that has allowed the unemployment rate to dip from near 10% to 8.2%. Do you really think we have had a 1.8% improvement in employment in the last year and a half?

Last month Duncan Hunter proposed we change the official unemployment number to the U-5 number. Article and reasons here. http://www.humanevents.com/2012/07/06/hunter-wants-new-number-as-measure-of-unemployment-rate/

If you really dig into all this, it can make your head explode. The way they actually calculate the unemployment number is based on surveys if you can believe it. http://www.economywatch.com/unemployment/measurement.html

Many here on FR openly wonder why we dont take readily available data ... such as withholding reporting ... and use that for the calculations, because that would show us not only how many have jobs, but allow us to trend information like average pay.

That average pay thing is also quite important in the unemployment numbers because of what are called marginally attached employees. Lets say you have a job, and work gets slow so they cut your hours. In fact, lets say you drop to the point where you no longer qualify for benefits, and you cant make your mortgage payment. The U-3 number says you are still employed. The U-6 number says you are marginally employed. 8.2% unemployed with a huge number marginally employed sucks.

The last thing to keep in mind regarding unemployment is the size of the labor pool. Certain things add to the size of the labor pool ... like immigration and the birth rate. Certain things reduce the labor pool, like retirement and death and disability. The thing that makes no sense to many of us is when lack of jobs is used to reduce the official size of the labor pool. Again, go back to people “dropping off” unemployment. The U-3 rate says they are no longer in the labor pool. This is why when there is an uptick in employment, a month or two later it crashes again. Those “not in the labor pool” get hope, and start looking for jobs again. At present, there are fewer Americans in the labor pool than the day Obama took office, which is another reason the U-3 rate is as low as 8.2%

I just heard him make the comment to “Build the economy from the bottom up”.

Trickle Up economics.

Better known as Nazism.

Only a very few people at the very top will actually have any “wealth” because it's almost impossible to accumulate any wealth.

Trickle up economics does exactly what it says.

It creates poverty, destroys the middle class, and increases the wealth at the top.

It’s funny. He slips this stuff in, and it’s very obvious if you just listen. He reveals himself very clearly.

(if you can stomach it, which I usually can’t).

A Holocaust survivor told me in 1993 the dems were aligining themselves with muslims to bring back Nazism.

It's becoming more and more obvious every day he was right.

Too many people still believe it could never happen here because we are different.
