American Patriots Must Go on the Offensive for Freedom
American Clarion ^ | June 29, 2012 | Bob Ellis

Posted on 06/29/2012 6:21:41 PM PDT by WXRGina

As I said earlier this morning, I am afraid the disloyalty to Republican and American principles by people who should know better has left patriots with little choice but to back a pathetic GOP presidential candidate, in the hopes of bringing down the greatest threat to liberty since FDR’s “New Deal” (likely an even greater threat).

Though we may be forced to work with a liberal to defeat an even greater liberal threat, that does not mean we should or even must surrender the values that made America great–and can restore her to greatness once again. In fact, now more than ever we must hold fast to those values and press forward to re-establish their preeminence in the United States.

If we can regain control of congress and the presidency with genuine American patriots (not just Republicans, since that brand has little meaning and even less reliability anymore), we simply cannot afford to continue playing defense as we have for the past few decades. We must go on the offensive to not only reverse the destruction liberalism has done to our republic and our Constitution, but to construct bulwarks against them in the future.

Such proactive defenses can not only provide the tools to eliminate existing Leftist assaults on freedom, but can guard against fresh threats. Not only that, they can help protect the American people not only from the identified threats in the Democrat Party, but the more stealthy ones in the Republican Party. Proactively demanding and working for political bunkers, mines, barbed wire, pillboxes, concertina wire to protect freedom will help hold politicians in both parties accountable to the Constitution and to the people.

One of the most insidious avenues the Left has used to attack our freedom has been by creating confusion about our founding values and principles. This has been accomplished by propaganda, misdirection, “interpretation,” “redefinition,” revisionism and outright lies. But there are some things we can do to quash these liberal psyops.

These defenses against the kind of Leftist tyranny and threat to freedom we’ve seen in the last several decades include but are not limited to:

-A constitutional amendment which highlights the enumerated powers of Article 1 Section 8 and clearly spells out (so that even Leftists cannot mistake or ignore their meaning) that these are the ONLY powers granted to the federal government by the states and the people (see the 10th Amendment)
-A constitutional amendment which clearly states the “General Welfare Clause” is a general statement of intent and not a “blank check” enumerated power to regulate, tax or spend on anything so long as it can be justified as benefiting the “general welfare”. Further, clarify that the meaning of “general” in this clause can be defined as something with benefits Americans generally, and not a benefit or entitlement provided to specific (i.e. identifiable by name) Americans
-A constitutional amendment which provides the same clarification provided for the “General Welfare Clause” for the “Necessary and Proper” clause, as being limited to the powers granted in Article 1 Section 8 A constitutional amendment which clarifies that the “Commerce Clause” applies only to “referee” authority in commerce between states, and that it in no way, shape, form or fashion, authorizes the government to create programs or force people to purchase products or services they may or may not want
-A constitutional amendment which clarifies First Amendment religious freedom, including the right of the people to express their religious beliefs in the public square and to be free from assault on their right of conscience, as well as the elucidation that while the United States has no official state religion or church, our Christian heritage is an established fact that does not have to be denied or minimized in the public square
-A constitutional amendment which clarifies and enshrines the right of the American people to purchase, keep and bear arms
-A constitutional amendment which clarifies the harass or impair the use of one’s own interpret to exist” a law that has not already been passed by the legislative branch and signed into law by the executive branch, and that no judge or court may allow to stand any law which lacks the authority of Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution or violates any other provision of the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, upon threat of immediate impeachment for violations
-A constitutional amendment which would allow for the impeachment by the states or the people of any judge who legislates from the bench or ignores the specifications of the U.S. Constitution
-A constitutional amendment which requires that any bill submitted for passage in congress must cite the specific paragraph within Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution which specifically authorizes legislation in this area.

These amendments could all be submitted for ratification en masse, and given an easy-to-understand name such as “The Spelling-It-Out-For-Idiot-Statist-Liberals Amendment” or the “Preserving the American Freedom Amendment.” They could also be submitted individually if that would increase the chances that the most important once could be implemented as soon as possible. Either way, such measures could serve the dual role of offensively eradicating the damage liberal incursions on our freedom have done, and defensively prevent future assaults.

Our constitution is a good one and does not need to be significantly altered at all. However, despite their acknowledgement of fallen human nature (see the John Adams quote below), I do not believe the founders seriously contemplated a future in which their posterity would ever develop the kind of vicious determination to eradicate freedom the way the Left has devolved into. The U.S. Constitution was crafted for a moral and sane society, not one where approximately 30% of the population was hell-bent on attacking the freedom of the rest.

Even as these clarifications are being passed and seeking ratification, we need to get busy dismantling all the programs which violate the U.S. Constitution (which make up approx. 60% of our annual federal budget).

This includes but is not limited do:

-Phased privatization of Social Security to put retirement provisions back into the hands of the American people to make their own decisions and meet their own personal responsibilities.
-Phased privatization of Medicare to put the health care of the elderly back into the people’s own hands
-Phased elimination of Medicaid, SCHIP and other socialized health care schemes in tandem with commensurate tax reductions and encouraging the American people to establish and contribute to private charities
-Phased elimination of all welfare programs as well as the taxes collected to support them, in tandem with encouraging the American people to get involved with helping those in their families and communities who are in genuine need–as America has historically done.
-Elimination of all cabinet-level departments that do not administer significant portions of constitutionally authorized government activity (e.g. Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, etc.)

The founders deliberately set up a limited-government constitution for a reason: they had seen the tyranny of unrestrained government (it led them to declare independence from this government), and established a limited-government constitution to protect the God-given liberties of the American people.

We must return our government to this understanding, and to subservience to the constitution. At the same time, we must take every opportunity to educate our fellow Americans about the truth concerning our history and Constitution. Obviously, with the enemies of the Constitution and freedom controlling the education and media system, we cannot rely on others to make sure Americans know about their unique and precious heritage of freedom.

We the people must not only expect but demand a higher ethical standard from all of our elected representatives. For too long we have lounged in the hammock of cynicism which claims, “They’re all dirty anyway” and “there’s no difference” and trite little “excusing” jokes like “How can you tell if a politician is lying?”

We must return to not only an understanding but an embrace of the wisdom of the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, John Jay, who said,

“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as … interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

We must also not be content to be satisfied with a claim that candidates are Christians, but must demand and require evidence from both their personal lives and from their policy positions–and their votes if they are an incumbent. Claiming to be one thing while behaving in a contrary manner will not cut it, and must not be accepted. We cannot expect our leaders to ethically uphold our liberties if their words or deeds or both indicate they hold morality and ethics in anything but the highest esteem.

No, the secularists, atheists and God-haters among us will not like such a standard, but frankly I care about the American republic, the U.S. Constitution, and the freedom of all my fellow Americans more than the opinions of people who don’t even realize when they are shooting themselves in the foot. If we want to retain the freedom our Constitution was crafted to preserve, we have no choice but to demand high moral standards of anyone and everyone involved in government and public policy. As John Adams said,

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Will all of this be accomplished in a day (or even a year)? No. It will take a long, long, long time to get our republic back on track and erect protective bulwarks against the incursions of the enemies of freedom from the Left. It took us seven long years of bloodshed and hardship to fully achieve our independence after we declared it in 1776. It has taken us 70 years or more to reach this pathetic low, and it may take 70 more to get us back on the American road of liberty. We’ve been sloppy by not putting a kabosh on it when FDR played tyrant, and we’ve been sloppy ever since as executive, legislative and judicial branches have ignored the limits of the U.S. Constitution…and we let them get away with it. Just like when a parent is lax with discipline and lets their child get out of hand, there is usually a lot of hell to be paid by all to get things back under control.

Will all of this be easy to do? No, not by any stretch of the imagination. It will require persistence, stubbornness, determination and perseverance on the part of all patriots. It will require the financial investment of many of us. It will require investments of our time in a myriad of ways (volunteering to help with campaigns, writing letters to the editor, putting heat on elected officials, maybe even running for office ourselves). It will require a thick skin that will have to put up with the most acidic vitriol you can imagine from the Left–and much of it will falsely appear to come from the perspective of the Right, from conservatism, from Christians and Christianity itself (trust me, I’ve endured fraudulent attacks that are meant to look like they come from “my own camp” like this for years, already).

But I am in 100% agreement with Abraham Lincoln, who fought to preserve this God-blessed nation at a time when it was literally tearing itself apart, that the effort to nobly save this “last best hope of earth” is worth it, so that “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Thanks. The writer speaks of the way the "Left," as he calls the so-called "progressives," has misrepresented, misused, reinterpreted, and changed the meanings of terms in order to mislead and "fundamentally transform" America from its foundations in the ideas of liberty.

A leading giant in the founding of America understood that tactic as a tool which tyrants, old and new, use in order to conquer and control those whom they wish to enslave.

"How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!" - Samuel Adams

The current tyrant is a master at this kind of dissembling and fooling the people in order to gain power.

The important part of this election is getting a House and Senate that are both conservative (not just Republican) enough to force the liberal in our White House to govern responsibly. To avoid the death of America as a free country, or a civil war to restore constitutional government, we need to go to the polls and drag every patriotic friend, neighbor, co-worker, and relative to the polls with us. We need a congressional landslide that will make the 2010 shift in Congress look mild.

The question for all of you tax payers is: Do you have the balls? Do you not file a return in 2013? And if you do, do you claim 13 dependents to thwart the Feds by creating a liquidity crisis? Why can we not ourselves initiate a Cloward-Piven assault on the US Treasury to help bring down this amalgam of Socialist-Marxist reprehensibilty?

Ya die onschluss ist kommen and a bullet in every chicken will go a long way to resolving this blatant attack on the American way of life and liberty.

Go Galt and Leave the Driving to US

And my eyes glazed over after that.

Sure, let's compromise our way to victory! Welcome to the new conservatism. John Roberts fits right in.

Why do so many conservatives believe in this idiotic fantasy? The only way you're going to get a Congress that is "conservative enough to force the liberal in our White House to govern responsibly", is if you threw out the current bunch, and replaced them all with active Freepers.

What you speak of, is as bad as Democrats believing in flying unicorns shitting free Skittles and rainbows. It's never happened, and it never will. A Republican Congress will roll over for a Republican president every. single. time. Bank on it.

What this country really needs is a complete reset. Every single elected official in Washington, including all their staffs, political appointees, every bureaucrat, and federal employee, needs to be fired by the people, and we need to appoint new stewards to do the people's business.

Naturally, nothing short of a complete rebellion will accomplish that. We'll see. It just may come to that.

You think the time is right for the people to start demanding someone to arise, to lead, to speak the truth from the heart, to be the rallying voice across America?

Myself I believe the country needs a person that these socialist invaders absolutely hate, a person they have attacked but did not defeat, someone who has the ambition to fight?

I won’t name any names, I would rather hear a chorus of agreements.

Now after that is done the first agenda is to get the Tea Party into full attack mode, because the socialists think its dissolved and without momentum.

Then we need to organize red state governors to unify to opt out of Obamacare.

I'm thinking that right-minded Governors will be the likely nexus for a true "movement"...

Your eyes glazed over, and you apparently did not read the column. Nowhere in the column is ANY compromise suggested. Proposed are solutions IN SPITE of Mitt Romney.

That's right. I quit reading right there, as is my right.

If someone wants to impart their reasoned opinion to me, they should avoid insulting my intelligence right from the outset.

I've been reading 'silver lining' articles since Roberts rendered his coup de grace to the Constitution, and none of them have done a thing to remove the acrid stench of treason from the air.

This column is not remotely a “silver lining” column. Bob Ellis is every bit as outraged at Roberts as the rest of us. He is not a Pollyanna.
