Pls. vote for Wendy Long on June 26 for NY U.S. Senator & here's WHY (a vanity)

Posted on 06/22/2012 10:06:14 PM PDT by Sun

Did any of you listen to the debate last Sunday, and forum by NewYorkFamilies.org on Thursday, featuring the three NY U.S. senatorial candidates? After listening I will definitely vote for Wendy Long at the primaries this Tuesday.

Wendy Long is 100% pro-life, belonged to Americans United for life, pro-Constitution, worked for Justice Clarence Thomas, and much more.

While all of the candidates are conservative, Maragos (sadly) has the exceptions on abortion, and according to the NY Post is tight with the NY GOP, which is too "moderate" imo.

Turner is a very fine man, but is too open to the possibility of raising taxes.

Maragos challenged Turner on this, and Turner said we need to raise the debt ceiling for defense, etc..

Maragos said let's cut the Educations Dept., etc., instead.

BOTH Wendy Long and Maragos stated that they want to eliminate the Educations Dept. and both say NO! to a debt ceiling.

Wendy Long has been called a constitutional scholar and promoted the confirmations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito!

Listen to the link I posted of Laura Ingraham’s conversation with Wendy Long, and you will see how eloquent Wendy is.

Personally, I don’t buy that a candidate has to be a politician to win. Some folks even see that as a negative. Maybe we need some NEW blood.

And wouldn’t it be great to have a Constitutional scholar, Wendy Long, in the U.S. Senate to school her colleagues?

In this only woman-to-woman U.S. Senate race, I think the money WILL come, and from around the country. Even Grover Norquist is helping with fundraising:

“Grover Norquist pens fundraising plea for Wendy Long

Grover Norquist — the conservative activist who has gained great power through his anti-tax pledge circulated to office holders and candidates — has written a fundraising plea for Manhattan attorney Wendy Long in her Senate primary battle.”

U.S. Senate Candidate Wendy Long Stands With Cardinal Dolan and All People of Conscience Opposing Infringement on Religious Freedom

For IMMEDIATE Release: May 22, 2012

Calls on Gillibrand to support rights for all New Yorkers
New York, New York – U.S. Senate candidate Wendy Long stands with Cardinal Dolan, Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon, the University of Notre Dame, and all people of conscience to oppose the Obama administration’s attack on religious liberty, calling on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to support the rights of all New Yorkers, not just some.

While Sen. Gillibrand is relentless in her efforts to extend benefits to certain select groups, she has turned her back on the fundamental freedom of faith and conscience that is protected by the United States Constitution. In the process, Gillibrand is turning her back on New Yorkers who don’t share her and President Obama’s cynical political agenda.

Just recently, Sen. Gillibrand described her support for same-sex marriage in moral terms, saying: “So I just think it’s a matter of right versus wrong, it’s a matter of core values of humanity and fairness and freedom and the ability of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” At the same time, Gillibrand is willing to compromise the rights and the moral values of Catholics, Jews, Muslims and people of faith from all walks of life.

Wendy Long said, “The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is what protects all Americans, from all walks of life, to be able to practice their faith, and to keep the government from meddling in their lives and consciences. The willingness of Senator Gillibrand and President Obama to trample that principle for the sake of their own political agenda is dangerous and wrong.”
She added, “I stand with Cardinal Dolan and all people of faith in opposing the Gillibrand-Obama effort to reduce our freedom of religion to just another activity that can be regulated by the federal government.”

I, too, am a no-exceptions pro-lifer; I think that the rapist, not the baby, should be the one subject to the death penalty. (To clarify, I don’t consider a treatment to save the life of the mother that has the unintended consequence of killing the baby in the womb to be an abortion.)

That being said, the most principled pro-lifer to have served as U.S. president since Roe v. Wade was decided was President George W. Bush, and he claimed to support exceptions in cases of rape and incest, so I won’t oppose a candidate just because he or she isn’t 100% pro-life. The abortion battle is being fought on other turfs (such as defunding Planned Parenthood, nominating and confirming judges that would overturn Roe, approving CIANA and other pro-life laws, etc.), and right now the difference between a no-exceptions pro-lifer and a rape-and-incest-exception pro-lifer is more hypothetical than practical.

BTW, I’m not saying that I prefer Maragos to Wendy Long (and, as you know, I support Turner over both), I’m just pointing out that our enemy is not the candidate who is 95% pro-life, but the candidates and elected officials who are not pro-life at all (or who are only nominally pro-life yet vote against the Mexico City policy or for a clone-and-kill bill).

Manhattan attorney Wendy Long has been declared the winner in the GOP race Long ran against Rep. Bob Turner of Queens and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos. Long has the Conservative Party line on the November ballot, which she says is needed by any Republican who hopes to win.

Thanks for the info.!

I’m glad Bob Turner did well, too, as he was my 2nd favorite, and a nice guy.

Now time to beat Kirsten Gillibrand!

“I, too, am a no-exceptions pro-lifer; ..”

Good. We should not punish the child for the sins of his/her father.

I have also voted for people who have exceptions, but when given a choice, I vote for the most pro-life candidate, but I am passionate about many other issues as well.

imo most pro-lifers don’t have a problem with treatments to save a mother’s life, because the intent is certainly not to harm the baby.

It reminds me of a radio announcer, around 5 years ago, who was crying when he told the story of a waitress that works in a nearby city to me, who had cancer, but chose not to have the treatments, and her baby lived, and she died. But this was her decision. What a brave lady, and what love she had for her child.

I heard that these days it is more possible to save them both, but I don’t know that much about it.
