His Majesty…King Obama, Does End-Run Around Congress And Enacts Dream Act Himself

How wonderful it must be to be King eh?

Our Royal Highness, The King of the United States of America, has decided himself to bypass Congress and issue a executive order stopping all deportation of those here illegally, not all here illegally but only those who were brought here as children. It’s not formal legalization, it’s de facto legalization.

Obama once said that he didn't have the power to do this:

THE PRESIDENT: I just have to continue to say this notion that somehow I can just change the laws unilaterally is just not true. We are doing everything we can administratively. But the fact of the matter is there are laws on the books that I have to enforce. And I think there’s been a great disservice done to the cause of getting the DREAM Act passed and getting comprehensive immigration passed by perpetrating the notion that somehow, by myself, I can go and do these things. It’s just not true…

[W]e live in a democracy. You have to pass bills through the legislature, and then I can sign it. And if all the attention is focused away from the legislative process, then that is going to lead to a constant dead-end. We have to recognize how the system works, and then apply pressure to those places where votes can be gotten and, ultimately, we can get this thing solved. And nobody will be a stronger advocate for making that happen than me.

But now His Majesty decides he no longer has to enforce those laws on the books.

Why?

Well, he needs votes since he seems to be getting creamed at the polls.

Laws? Eh...who needs em. Congress? Eh...they can get bent.

He will rule what must be done, when it must be done, and how it must be done.

John Yoo, who knows just a bit about Executive Branch authority, says he is out of bounds:

I think the Anointed Won may have made another mistake in gaging the public’s mood. He may have pandered for the Hispanic vote, but may have lost the votes of many of his former supporters who are unemployed due to his ridiculous economic policies.

Yep, I think he stepped in it big time, and wonder when he will start back-peddling. I think sometime this next week.

And aren’t illegals exempt from Obamacare?

No. Illegals ARE covered under Obamacare.

Boehner will weep, McConnell with dither. Nothing will be done by Republicans.

Is it just my imagination or did the founding fathers rebel against England for lesser infractions of liberty than this?

Thomas Jefferson once said a little rebellion now and then is good...

Republicans need to:

a) make it plain that Zero will be prosecuted for abuse of authority after he is removed from office;
b) all illegals who obtain fake papers from the Emperor will be traced, prosecuted & deported;
c) let INS staff know that if they issue sham work permits, they will be prosecuted;
d) let employers know that if they are found to have hired illegals given sham work documents by Emperor Hussein, they will be prosecuted also

“Yep, I think he stepped in it big time, and wonder when he will start back-peddling.”

He wil pivot as soon as SCOTUS upholds Arizona’s immigration law, and the majority of the states adopt the same law to counter Obama’s disregard for the law. Those states that do not do so, will become a hornet’s nest of illegal immigration, and the effects will be glaring!

Exactly.

Obama now realizes that he can do anything he wants, and Congress won't do a damn thing about it. That makes him very dangerous.

I understand how Obama can order HHS and Justice to NOT deport illegals that fit certain criteria - it can be defended under “prosecutorial discretion” and “setting priorities for law enforcement”.

But ... that does not cover the issuance of work permits — that VIOLATES existing law, and a federal judge CAN prohibit that.

Can the next president overturn this? Since it’s an executive order?

The king just keeps digging and digging. Doesn’t one of his aides have the sense to tell him to stop digging and put down the shovel?

He does not have the power to do this unilaterally. He cannot as President do this. Congress must go along. If he tries this, it is reason for impeachment. He is not king and cannot dictate law. He may think he can, but he cannot. What we need is someone with the intestinal fortitude to confront him on this issue. Any takers?
