Gingrich's Defense of Bain Capital Far Superior to Anything You Ever Hear Coming from Romney
Reaganite Republican ^ | May 28, 2012 | Reaganite Republican

"How can you be the president with the worst
unemployment record since the Great Depression
-and pick a fight over job creation
There's a point where this becomes ludicrous..."
___________________________________________________________________

"Bain as an issue doesn't work, because people look at it on balance... and they say 'wait a second -yeah- you can pick a couple companies that lost. You can pick a lot of companies that succeeded.' And as even as the governor of Massachusetts said last week, it is a good company."

"This is going to fall flat on its face ... Obama picking a fight on the economy is probably the worst possible strategy for his campaign."

"(Cory Booker) described what I think is a big reality for him as the Mayor of Newark: that that free enterprise system has been creating jobs, paying taxes, improving his city."

Re. Newt's own (primary) attacks on Mitt's record at Bain: "I think Governor Perry will tell you when he tried to use it, it didn't work... when I went head-to-head with Mitt over it didn't work...
I'm a little surprised Obama is trying it"

"In effect, what Obama is saying is that government investment is smarter than private equity -and if you look at their track record of losing billions on various solar companies -$2.1B on one company alone- you'd have to say Obama's a pretty bad venture capitalist.

And remember, he's doing it with your money... for better or worse, Romney was taking a risk as a private person, with private money, in the private sector... Obama's been throwing our money as taxpayers away, and our children's and grandchildren's in the national debt"

"I think private equity on balance creates far more jobs that it kills... I think private equity creates a far better future... look at the rise of Google, of Apple."

"Private equity in general has been a force that has overwhelmingly been more effective at creating jobs than any socialist government in history. So if I had to choose between private equity and socialism, I'd choose private equity every time.

Countries that use private equity get richer, and countries that follow socialism get poorer.... Obama's frankly a pretty good case study in that: his examples of public equity -investing in Solyndra, investing in other failing companies -I mean he's thrown-away billions of dollars of taxpayers' money- because it turns-out that bureaucrats don't make very good venture capitalists."

“The man who should be President.”

I so agree with you, and this is an excellent example of why. He can take an issue and make it simple to understand and logical. I've been trying to figure out why the “Republican Machine” wanted Romney over Gingrich. Could it be 1) looks; 2) able to raise more money; 3) of course, Gingrich's “baggage” will be touted, but that doesn't seem feasible, otherwise they would have gone with Santorum or Bachmann.

It's just too bad that this Newt Gingrich wasn't running in the Florida Primary.

He was. You’ve just shown that the media can program your mindset, sadly. This same Newt has had all his ideas and data available, for any who would get beyond the media programming. This is the same newt , you’re just now realizing what he stands for while the facts have been available from the start, for those not at the mercy of the media vermin.

I've been trying to figure out why the “Republican Machine” wanted Romney over Gingrich.

Because the Republican Machine is driven by RINOism and Romney is an uber RINO and Newt isn't. Just that simple.

The RNC knows that should Newt become President he will try and restrain government and trim/cut government programs. That would mean (horror of horrors) a reduction in the RNC's power. Can't have that. By promoting Romney they get a guy that will pretty much leave things the way they are or maybe promote a few more poorly thought out government programs.

Think of private equity as capitalism’s rescue squad.

Too bad, but Newt would have ripped this corrupt communists leaning Federal Government to pieces. Romney hasn’t the knowledge or will to do the same. If America gets Romney, only a very small portion of the corruption the communists Democrats will be overturned. Romeny just doesn’t get it.

Obama looks at Bain as a gift from Romney, a way for him to focus his war on Capitalism, without admitting that is his goal. If Obama were a little smarter, and less a leftist ideologue, he would back out of this trap, but he can’t.

As you may know I was a big Newt supporter, and the only explanation I can offer is that Gingrich is his own man... Romney will do what the party tells him to do

This election called for someone that can clearly explain/sell conservatism to a politically bewildered populace, just as the Gipper did.

Alas, the RNC chose to help destroy Gingrich instead... what class he has then to offer his unqualifed support and formidable communication skills to the Romney campaign, a REAL team-player.

If you look back, Newt ONLY went negative on Romney when forced to... this is the same FHS Gingrich that led in Iowa and won in NC. I’m not so sure I could have forgiven Mitt for what he did in FLA, but none of us want it to be Obama... so here we are.

GO GET ‘EM Mr Speaker

You post nonsense. Newt's Florida campaign was terrible. He bashed Romney over Bain and pushed himself as a pandering moon-base futurist. Had Newt come off of the SC win with a positive, responsible economic and national security platform and stuck with it he might not have dropped like a rock. After SC, Romney portrayed Newt as an unreliable self-seeking opportunist and Newt did his part to drive that message home.

Apparently you think you are the only one not played like a puppet by the media. I see no reason to agree with you on this.

Yeah -- helloooo all you Newt idolizers. Criticizing Bain Capital may not have been the cause of his downfall, but it happened simultaneously. Newt is brilliant, in a patronizingly hypocritical and inconsistent sort of way.

And, yes, his defense is very good. Give me just one reason why I should think he believes it given what he said just a couple months ago.
