Romney, Evangelicals on the Same Page of the Playbook Now?
Reaganite Republican ^ | May 18, 2012 | Reaganite Republican

Dick Morris -speaking on Fox's Hannity last night- had this take on the current state of relations between presumed GOP nominee Mitt Romney and the Evangelical Christian right:

'Romney had a real problem with Evangelicals, since he's a Mormon and he beat Santorum.

But Obama solved that for him overnight with the gay marriage endorsement- there'll be 95% turnout among Evangelicals now.'

Far be it from me -a lifelong Catholic- to speak for these fine people, but avid polling enthusiast Morris may be onto something here: almost any survey you care to look at shows growing enthusiasm from not just Evangelicals but most moderates and conservatives -even former Obama supporters- anxious to unseat the repulsive Obammunist regime
(along with others of that ilk in congress and on the state level)... people are afraid of these kooks, it's that bad.

In contrast, the so-called 'progressive' movement seems tired, worn-out, and despondent... not unusual for foolhardy socialist experiments terminated by that always-inevitable collision with reality. Trouble is, this one's going to cost us- already has.

This “evangelical” has a real problem with Romney, because he is a stink’n liberal.
This “evangelical” has a real problem with Romney, because he distorted the records of the conservatives in the race with mega bucks and offered nothing, yet apparently has won the nomination.
This “evangelical” has a real problem with liberals, it is that simple and I will not vote for one.

Yeah, thanks, Dick - you make the same assumption all elites of both parties make: that all evangelicals vote as a block, on knee-jerk issues, and we’ll follow anybody who says “the right things”. Wrong. I won’t vote for Mitt Romney (so you can all blame ME if O wins, yadda yadda yadda) because I can’t trust him to be conservative, either fiscally or socially, on ANY issue.

The best worst candidate is still a bad candidate. Down-ballot races will get my attention and support.

I’m sure Romney taking a position on gay marriage that is contradictory to his past and current actions has helped him.

But 95% of the evangelical vote? I don’t think so.

The constitution party got 0.5% vote last time.

I’m hoping they are closer to 5.0% this time. That would give them a real voice.

Now that Arizona’s Secretary of State has asked Hawaii for the birth certificate and has stated that they won’t put Obama on the ballot unless they get it. It becomes more likely that Obama may have to drop out of the race due to eligibility issues, which means the Rat’s could substitute Hillary or someone else.

How many Congressmen will the CP send to Washington? So where's the voice going to come from?

I’m expecting a “me too” from Romney, the “Father of Homosexual Marriage.”

I'm not. Romney can read the polls. He appears to be quite adept at saying one thing and doing something else.
