I'm still trying to figure out how a "blogger" is any different than an editorial page writer. The new term, a root combination of "web" and "log," has somehow gotten a negative connotation, yet no one can tell me how the offering of opinions on ideas, events or whatever differs between "bloggers," and say, Cal Thomas or Walter E. Williams.

I'm sure there is a snide answer to this.

I love blogs, they are the new media, the dedicated diggers serve as a fact check and fact gathering source, which is especially important for local stories that are kept out of the MSM.

She's a college girl twitterer, not really a "Liberal Black Female Blogger."

The person who wrote this is right that threats like hers should be taken seriously.

Lone kooks shouldn't be ignored, but this twitterer is not really representative of larger population groups.

It's not like there's some larger "them" out there to blame one person's stupid comments on or like some "we" wins a point because somebody somewhere says something ignorant or hateful.

My husband makes the very same comparison with the men of our nation's founding era and the papers they wrote (Federalist and Anti-Federalist, anyone?).

I realize that everyone has an opinion, and not all of them have veracity, but not all "bloggers," or even editorial page writers, are a "bucket of spit."

The problem is there are two types of people. One who knows the subject and speaks truly about it and the person who ass/u/mes they know what they are talking about. Many of those just get their kicks off by attaching their mind to a cause and thinking they are part of the ruling class. This woman is an excellent example. Lincoln freed her ancestors. Susan B Anthony Met with a Republican Senator who carried the cause of woman's right to vote to the end after Wilson left and the RATS were replaced. If you would ask her she would have almost no idea what happened and could care less. The Internet and media is full of these people. Quite often they act against their own self interest.
