This challenge has several aspects.
1. How do we recognize the difference between good conservatives who go off message on distractions and the true plants who try to get us to go off message?
2. How do we recognize the difference between well intentioned conservatives who are inarticulate and do a poor job of presenting their case and the fake conservative?
3. How do we get above the circular firing squad? We have Mitt because we couldn’t unite around a single alternative early in the game. Ego and personality are part of the division. Genuine ideological differences are a part, especially foreign policy between Ron Paul supporters and Israel supporters. But our biggest problem is that we let ourselves be distracted by non-issues...both those of our own making and those of the other side.
How do we mature the people in our movement so they aren’t so naive? Did they not understand the story of TAB BABY?
Contraception, immigration, global warming are distrations. The issue is jobs, taxes, jobs, spending, jobs, borrowing, jobs, regulation. Take regulation as an example. The only time it favors us politically (right now) is when it can be directly linked to jobs.
