This petition is a protest to the Bulgarian ambassador in Washington about an alleged practice allowed in Bulgaria where a dog is suspended over water on a chain, spun, then cut loose while spinning. I'm figuring this isn't considered fun by the dog.
any idea how to ping the doggie list?
I’ll gladly sign a petition to stop dog spinning, but would even more gladly sign one to START liberal spinning.
Over boiling water.
Supposedly wards off evil spirits. Seems to me the evil spirits are the ones doing the dog spinning.
Obama would call it a Dog Rotisserie.
Hilarious!

At first I thought the petition might have been a joke but dog spinning is very real custom.
OK, that was weird.
Does the dog do it a second time voluntarily? If you wave the chain at the dog for a second spin, does it hide under the couch or is it bouncing up and down trying to get attached?
Dogs do crazy things like loll their heads out into the wind from pickup trucks. I’m not sure what the dog’s take on this is. Does it go run and hide or come running back up after the excellent adventure wagging its tail?
The cruelty and malice of mankind used to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in a long time.
These days, I’m surprised when people aren’t cruel to animals.
Bulgarian or Bostonian, any scum involved in this needs to be subjected to the same treatment. See how much they enjoy spinning until they can’t stand up and then being dumped into ice cold water.
Bastards.
Yeah, are any of them redneck enough to volunteer to take the place of the dog???
Well, this gives new meaning to the phrase: “ Come on Fido let’s go for a spin!”
Doubtful.
But if they can’t do it with dogs, I expect them to start doing it to their kids.
“Authorities suspect that alcohol may have been involved.”
oh, the horror!
Better spun than eaten !!!!!
I never even knew Michael Vick was Bulgarian...
Yeah, the first dog in the video at least seems to enjoy it, since he is wagging his tail when they are prepping him for a second go.
“See how much they enjoy spinning until they cant stand up and then being dumped into ice cold water.”
Sounds like a day at the amusement park to me.
I suppose so, amusement parks were never my thing.
Still these poor dogs don’t get to refuse to get on the jerk and hurl ride.
Well it looks like some dogs, at least, like it. Maybe they could be put on a less arduous test ride first, since it’s not possible to ask them in dog language whether they would care for the idea. No Dr. Doolittle is available for that.
Anyhow if it’s supposed to show whether the dog spinners are going to have good luck, why send any dog on the ride more than once, or have more than one spin?
And... they might already have a set of dogs that have been tested and which seem to love it. A nice steak after they’ve dried out and gotten their land legs back might also be an inducement to these canines.
Some dogs prefer bad attention to no attention.
This is not the level of dog/animal fighting.
However, it is dumb and not nice, something that a frat-boy mentality would do.
1st of all, I don’t think there is a “second go” in this clip.
2nd, I can’t tell there is any wagging.
Last, and incidentally most important - let’s please dispell the myth of tail-wagging. MANY times “wagging” is a danger sign, or sign of submission or fear. It depends exactly how it’s done, and on other body language.
Good point, OlLine Rebel. A wagging tail doesn’t always mean a dog is happy.
Thanks for the ping, Joe!
