You have got to be kidding me. This trashing of Newt by Erika Johnsen, who apparently just started blogging at HotAir, is so over the top:

I've noticed that as a conservative website becomes more of a Romney fan site, it just gets nastier and nastier. Even the Ronulans aren't as despicable as the Mittwits are.

I have shoes older than her. This is why she has no idea what she is talking about. She has no context. Newt has some real clinkers in his dossier, but a RINO of this level? Come on. Political critiques should be left to people who have lived through more than one election cycle. If she doesn't know where she was when the landslide election results came in Nov of '94, she needs to shut up.

I think he was dead wrong regarding Rick Santorum. So IMHO in that instance Rush was wrong.
So that leaves the burning question. What of Dick Cheney’s and Sara Palin’s judgment that you find suspect?

Heck, Newt was my boy going back to the ‘08 election when I halfway wished he would have tossed his hat in the ring, but figured he wouldn’t (and didn’t) because it was a Democrat year. When he started making noises about running this time around I was pleased, but immediately he started playing games with us. He not only threw traditional-American conservatives overboard, but he couldn’t even wait till the formality of the primaries were concluded before he started winking at Mexicans over amnesty! Then there was the way he tut-tutted Paul Ryan over spending cuts. Can you imagine all the positions he’d be yielding to the Left as a part of some triangulation scheme where he’s too clever by half?
Good point. His trashing those who wanted to enforce immigration laws on long term illegals as “inhumane” was the start of his downfall. It was his Perryesque “heartless” moment. Seeing him pander at that Spanish Univision event was pat of the reason I dumped him for Santorum. He even attacked Romney for being too tough on illegals-LOL
BTW-As far as nastiness, the “Newt or no one!” crowd jumped that shark long ago. The way supporters of Santorum were treated by a few here was sickening.
