I think we can attribute the higher water levels of Lake Michigan on the Chicago residents urinating in it when they go to the beach.

That's cold ~ BTW, the height of the Great Lakes ~ each and every one of them ~ is controlled by vast hydraulic works that cost billions of dollars.

The levels are measured to see if any one of them needs to be raised or lowered to facilitate commerce.
