Our Founding Father's established the most remarkable system of government the world has ever seen. Not only did they defy a tyrant in order to achieve their vision but also defeated the British twice in order to secure our way of life. It is no doubt that the Founders were impressive visionaries but how far has our government drifted from the Founder's original intent?
One of the duties of government is to collect taxes (and we know they exercise their right to tax) but in the Constitution it states “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and general Welfare of the United States.” The Founders listed that the first duty of taxes is to pay for the debt of the government. Our nation's debt is now 17 trillion Dollars and yet we continue to be taxed in order to pay for entitlements, failing businesses, and other things that we the people may not even be aware of.
The Founder's also gave the power of commerce to the Federal Government with the restrictions of “ regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.” Today, the Commerce Clause has been used to justify government intervention between individual's free trade and also has been used to prevent citizen's from growing their own crops on their own property (Wickard v. Filburn). Where in the Commerce Clause does it give the Federal Government the power to tell us what legal activity we can do on our own property?
Since the Civil War, one must consider the 14th Amendment when stating the 10th Amendment. The 14th Amendment adds to the 10th Amendment by stating that states cannot tread on individual rights but the 14th Amendment does not limit States' Rights anymore then that. This means that every agency and entitlement program the federal government controls that is not listed in Article 1 section 8 in the Constitution is not meant to be in the hands of the Federal Government, it should be in the States' hands.
We live in a crucial time in which we must decide whether to continue on a slippery path to tyranny and oppression or to live in a free society that allows us to make decisions for ourselves and to accept the consequences of our actions. Our Founder's created a Republic based on federalism to insure that no one branch of government in America could control enough power to harm the sanctity of America's citizens. We must not allow our government to drift any farther from what the Founder's vision then we already have and to restore America to its former glory the Founder's intended us to have.
Our government hasn’t failed us, our people has.

Go to any large gathering of people ad look around. Tere is your answer why we are doomed.

Once the program or spending has begun, it is terribly difficult to walk it back. How difficult? I would say that a 500 pound woman has a better chance of climbing up a 25ft rope.
The problem is that the PEOPLE are supposed to be the government... it’s not supposed to be this big monster that regulates every part of your life. The constitution was an amazing document that LIMITED government, not made it into the monstrosity that it is today. It’s now an entity unto itself that demands our obeisance and rules our very existence to the point of deciding if we live or die (Obamacare).
Yes our Gov. has let us down, but WE THE PEOPLE are just as guilty for allowing them to do so.
We continue to re-elect the same people over and over again. We allow them to become entrenched and corrupt. I for one am tired of the same old people, the formation of political dynasties, and the blatant arrogance.
Incumbents must go. Term limits.
Also, all those that voted for obama cost us quite a bit, with more destruction coming before we rid ourselves of him. Thank you you bunch of blind fools!!
Most of the problems of the federal government could be corrected in two ways: one relatively easily, and the other needing a constitutional amendment.
The easy one is to elect a president who makes as a major priority to work with congress to *reduce* the power of the office of the presidency. The biggest obstacles to this are his ego, and the egos of those ambitious people who someday want to become POTUS themselves.
Among practices they need to outlaw are presidential signing statements, “czars”, with strict limits on recess appointments, the use of presidential proclamations to steal state lands (along with the return of much of those lands), to require that all “not specifically White House internal” executive orders are to be given through appointed and senate approved cabinet officers, no longer directly from the president; and that there be strict rules to “executive privilege”.
Likewise, in exchange the president should again make the State of the Union in writing, not waste weeks of time for a dog & pony show; and that the vast majority of ceremonial and diplomatic efforts be made by cabinet officers, not the POTUS.
Then work to restore the 4th Amendment, Posse Comitatus, the War Powers Act, and other laws.
The hard means to restore order to the federal government would be to create a 2nd Court of the United States, just subordinate to the Supreme Court, but not a federal court, instead a mirror image of the US senate, with 100 state judges appointed by the state legislatures.
They would decide if the laws heard by the 3600 US federal judges, directly and on appeal, are indeed federal issues, or should be returned to the individual states for decision. That is, a jurisdictional court, not a constitutional court, which is a federal court responsibility.
Their other purpose would be original jurisdiction between all lawsuits between the states and the federal government. This would mean if a state sued the feds, or the feds sued a state, a court representing all the states would hear the case first.
The people in our government have failed us.
