Can this get any funnier? Romney Sells Inauguration Access, Nine Months Early!

Former Governor Mitt Romney is already offering top donors access to a special “Presidential Inaugural retreat,” planned on the assumption that he will be elected president this November.

The offer, in a fundraising email circulated by a top Georgia supporter to fellow Republicans and obtained by BuzzFeed, is one of several goodies offered to those who contribute more than $50,000 to the joint fundraising committee known as “Romney Victory,” a program whose outlines were first reported by POLITICO.

Those donors will be named “Founding Members” of Romney Victory and invited to a California retreat with Romney and offered “yet to be determined access at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August.”

They will also “have preferred status at the first Presidential Inaugural retreat,” the email says…

But Romney already appears to be preparing to open his nascent administration to his top financial supporters, the email from Stormont suggests, and the email contains an unusual combination of promises of access and early measuring of the presidential drapes. It also lays out the cost of other levels of access. At one Georgia fundraiser, for instance, $10,000 is required to “get a photo with Governor Romney.”

A cool $50,000 reserves your seat at the “presidential inaugural retreat. [The copy of the email obtained by BuzzFeed was forwarded by Richard Stormont, a former executive at the Marriott hotel chain, on whose board Romney sat.]

I am astounded not only by the arrogance, but also the haste to have himself *deemed* the Republican nominee.

Nothing will change.

We can only hope he will appoint decent judges.

With respect, I do not see the wisdom in your strategy. Since Senator Santorum publicly withdrew from active campaigning, there is no way your plan will attract enough voters to do anything but deny delegates to Gingrich and Paul, thereby assuring Romney of a win. You should respect Santorum’s decision and allow him to retire from the campaign except for fundraising to retire his debt.

Re infantacide remark....Well my hero started the the campaign on infantacide and he wasn’t the one who sat on the “Speakers Couch” blaming me for polluting the world while your hero did ....Whee’s Newts delegate count? How many states did he take ...he was supposed to take Bammy and Ole Missy he didn’t I like the guy but...HE CAM’T SWING IT ...HE’S TOO FAR DOWN...Even if Rick does take PA all that’s going to do, maybe, is to get Romney to say Romneycare was a huge mistake ...Right now Obamacare has been dropped and it’s one of the main issues against Obama

**Store closes while Ann Romney shops on Palm Beach’s Worth Avenue**

“Now who thought this was a good idea? Apparently, Ann Romney spent four hours Saturday doing some very private shopping at the very exclusive Alfred Fiandaca Couture store on Palm Beach’s Worth Avenue.

Crowley Political Report is puzzled. Isn’t the Romney campaign supposed to be trying to convince voters that they are just like the rest of us?

Not many folks shop at places like Alfred Fiandaca which has stores in Palm Beach, Boston and New York. And not many people have the store closed for them in the middle of a Saturday so they can shop in private for four hours.”....

EV’s tagline: (’Throw all the bums out.’ It’s not a slogan. It’s the survival of the republic.)

November 16, 2011

Dear Leader Pelosi,

After reading about House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s outburst over my “Overhauling Washington” plan, I wonder if his obstructionism reflects your own opposition and that of the Democratic Caucus to urgent reforms the American people so vehemently demand.

After increasing the debt by $4 trillion in less than three years, no one can believe that Americans are satisfied with business as usual, and that a permanent political class in Washington can get us out of the mess you and your colleagues have created.

A part-time Congress with half the pay would still make $38,000 a year more than the average American family. Do you truly oppose lawmakers spending more time in their districts? Is it so important for the Washington power brokers to build their fiefdoms of influence, including providing bailouts to Wall Street while businesses on Main Street are being boarded up every day?

Here is the fundamental question: do you believe Washington is broken? Before answering that question, consider these facts:

1) the Washington Metro area is now the most affluent metropolitan area in the country because lobbyists, contractors, elected officials and bureaucrats have been insulated from the economic ruin prevalent in the private sector;
2) Congressional office budgets have doubled since 2000 while employers all across America are laying off workers;
3) Our nation’s total debt is nearing the size of our nation’s economy, increasing our dependence on competitors like China;
4) The number of Americans out of work has increased by more than two million since January 2009, despite the massive stimulus package Democratic leaders promised would revive the economy, and;
5) on top of the job-killing spending policies of the previous Congress, employers are faced with a staggering $1.1 trillion in costs related to federal regulatory compliance.

Do you truly believe the answer to massive debt, over-regulation and bloated big-government policies is to continue to protect the status quo, which enriches and empowers Washington insiders at the expense of the American People?

My plan would overhaul Washington, eliminating certain agencies and reducing the size and scope of others. It will force Congress to make the tough decisions to balance the budget or require a further reduction in their pay. It would end lifetime appointments to future appointees to the federal bench. I don’t want to tinker around the edges when the American People demand a complete overhaul of Washington.

Let me conclude with an invitation: I am in Washington Monday and would love to engage you in a public debate about my Overhaul Washington plan versus the congressional status quo. I think it would be a tremendous service to the American public to see a public airing of these differences. Let the people decide. If Monday doesn’t work, perhaps we could find a time in Iowa over the course of the next month to discuss these issues in front of the people of America’s heartland.

Should you choose not to respond or engage in such a healthy discussion, I will take it to mean you will continue your obstructionist ways in the face of much needed Washington reform.

Sincerely,

Rick Perry
Governor of Texas

Well, as you know, you and I disagree over whether or not Governor Perry is part of the problem.

“Romney Sells Inauguration Access, Nine Months Early!”

Mitt is trying to unhinge Newt (and the rest of us). Romney does not know Newt does not become unhinged or the rest of us.

Mitt is as stupid as the Kenyan bastard.

The meaning of your answer escapes me.

BHO2 is a communist and Romney is a fascist. It’s like a choice between Stalin or Hitler.

Neither is acceptable.

Romney is like Stalin or Hitler? I can’t stand Romney either, but he is not as bad as Obama.

If you disagree, you have serious reality issues. The hyperbole is getting way past ridiculous.

Sounds like the elites (and by elites I mean politicians; D and R mean nothing anymore) have decided that it's Mitt's turn to be the puppet. It's time to run them all out of Washington and send Karl Rove and his buddies the message; they don't get to decide who the President will be.

It’s not hyperbole. It is Romney’s record as Governor of Massachusetts and his own voice on the matter.

Romney governed Massachusetts as a socialist. George Soros has said that there is no difference between Obama and Romney.

Governor Romney is a self-professed progressive, a national socialist (a fascist in the classical sense). See: Liberal Fascism, by Jonah Goldberg.

Our choice, if people like you don’t man-up and support the only remaining Conservative, Newt Gingrich, is between a Marxist (BHO2) or a fascist (Romney). We have no choice but to rebel against the elites running the Republican Party.

This thing isn’t over. There are 4+ months until the convention in Tampa, and 7+ months until the November elections. In politics that can equal a lifetime.
