Santorum Ahead In Louisiana [Leads By 13 Points: Without Gingrich Leads Jumps To 21 points]

Poll: Santorum Ahead In Louisiana By Jonathan Easley - 03/21/12

Rick Santorum leads the GOP presidential field by double digits heading into Saturday’s primary in Louisiana, according to a poll released late Tuesday by Magellan Strategies.

Santorum took 37 percent, followed by Mitt Romney at 24 percent, Newt Gingrich at 21 percent and Ron Paul at 3 percent.

The poll was conducted on March 19, before Romney’s convincing victory in the Illinois primary, and has a 2 percent margin of error.

Gingrich finished a distant fourth in Illinois, and will likely hear growing calls this week for him to end his campaign. One recent Gallup poll found that Gingrich supporters were split evenly between Romney and Santorum for their second choices, but the Magellan poll shows that the former House Speaker’s ongoing candidacy is hurting Santorum, at least in the South.

In a two-man race, Santorum leads Romney by 21 percent in Louisiana, with 61 percent of Gingrich’s support going to Santorum, and only 22 percent going to Romney.

Can you let all the Santorum supporters know about Rick’s Army, Laz? It’s a great site to get positive(as opposed to here) news about the campaign?

We in Wisconsin are fighters and we are gearing up to bring Wisconsin home for Rick on April 3. Tons of volunteers arriving as we speak.

Wisconsin Freepers. We need your help. Private mail me please.

I always go to ABC News when I want the truth.

By your bizarre logic, nobody should have run except your guy.

Without Gaffe Rick, Newt would be winning LA.

Based on what? Newts stellar Southern States Strategy? If you didn't read yesterday, Newt is broke. He doesn't have enough money in his campaign coffers to to have kids staple home made signs on light poles. How is that going to work in challenging Romney in LA?

It's anybody but Rick to the Newt Romney people—even if it means four more for Obama.

Newt should spare himself from being known as the Milton Waddams of 2012.

You just may have provided the answer that has eluded us all. Ego comes first. If he drops off now like Bachmann, Cain, and Perry before him, they’d stop talking about him in the news.

With these kinds of negatives there was better reason for Perry, Bachman, or Cain to continue.

so Mitt can train his guns on Zero

Mittens Romney doesn’t have a courageous or gutsy bone in his Rino body. He is out for himself and will throw Conservatives under the bus the day he wins the nom.

He’s not our man to take it to Obama. Rick Santorum is and he’s the one the Bam regime fears the most.

Gingrich were become more of a hindrance in the winner-take-all states.

Santorum has nearly twice as many delegates as Gingrich. Romney has nearly twice as many delegates as Santorum.

Unless either Santorum or Gingrich budges (gets out), the nominee is going to be Romney. And that will be without or with a brokered convention.

Poll numbers?

“The talk of a brokered convention never seems to die down and one interesting finding on this poll was that Sarah Palin is far more popular than any of the actual Republican candidates in the race. Her net favorability is +48, with 68% of voters rating her favorably to only 20% with a negative opinion. That compares favorably to +29 for Santorum, +19 for Romney, and -26 for Paul.”

“Palin is someone GOP delegates might be able to unify around in the case of a hopelessly deadlocked convention. She is seen positively by Gingrich voters (85/7), Santorum supporters (80/10), and Romney ones (57/27) alike. That’s a contrast to Romney who is disliked by both Santorum (38/48) and Gingrich (32/54) voters and Santorum who is disliked by Romney (38/48) voters and only seen narrowly favorably by Gingrich (46/42) backers.”

I could see Gingrich nominating Palin at a deadlocked convention. Not so much Rick Sanctimonious.

voting for Romney is voting for another obama, the RINO is just going to carry on the same issues as obama, the homo agenda, the cross agenda, hell he can’t even run against oabmacare because they took he blue prints of Romneycare.

The man is big Govt, spend and socially liberal and you think that us conservatives want another RINO.

Go and tell your MA liberal that many down here want Romney to drop out and regardless who he picks then we will not be voting for him,.

The establishment did this back in 2008 and we went along with it but no more.
Romney is just another whiter obama and to have this fraud tell us he’;s a republican is an insult.

It’s MA, the socialist state of the country, where even many of the few republicans think they are republican until they get out of their north east hell hole .

Better for all you north eastern types to stay up there minus the real conservatives, that is fiscal and social, oh and the man is a complete liar who would never beat obama anyway because he ignored the base

There won’t be a brokered convention. Primary voters want their candidates to go through the hard slog of winning elections. Sarah had her chance and declined to do so. Bachmann to her credit did.

Time for Rick and Newt to get the hell out of the way so Mitt can train his guns on Zero.. I am sick of Rick and Newt's delusional escapades..

Well I'm sick of Romney! The newest talking points are that everyone but Romney needs to give up so he can get down to business. Stupid!

Romney will never repeal Obamacare. Hell, he recently said how much he loves Romneycare. He's like an alien the way he adopts every other candidate's view that he thinks will help him but he'll go back to who he really is the moment he gets the nomination.

This isn't just about winning an election it's about throwing away the best healthcare system in the world. It's about being able to get treatment and procedures when you need them, not six or nine months down the road. It's about saving the economy because Obamacare is and will continue to destroy capitalism.

Way too much at stake to hand the nomination to Romney, way too much.

crushed in my state of FL, you are aware that Newt won more counties, got more of the conservatives vote here and Rick had not won one country here and yet you switch to Rick because of the hit job done by Romney, the establishment and FOX so called news.

Well it seems their hit hob worked on some then , well done for giving up and switching.

ARF

Now THAT gives me an idea about a FUNNY PROP that SANTORUM (or maybe his warm up team) can start doing onstage with "Etch a Sketches", nice red ones to catch the camera's eyes.

Why they could have written "ROMNEY THE NOMINEE", then get up there, shake those buggers until they were all scott clean, and call up Rick to the dais for the barnburner speech. Let's use more props. Let's use more humor. Let's think out of the box, like some of the people in the Cain Campaign, (and Cain hisself) did. (my first choice this year). This could also be used in a clever TV ad against Romney in those states Rick needs to get and is within striking distance.

Wonder if the Newt people have gotten the news that Newt's campaign is running in the red and his top campaign people are wondering what is going on.
His money is running out and he's spent more than what he took in last month.
There are delegates that are jumping ship and giving their support over to Rick Santorum.
