Gingrich Delegates in IL Switch Support to Santorum
03-20-2012

Posted on 03/20/2012 2:44:34 PM PDT by parksstp

News sources have confirmed Jim Runyon, a Gingrich delegate in IL has agreed in principle with 9 other Gingrich delegates in the 4 CD's that Rick Santorum failed to field a slate of delegates, that they will pledge their support for Santorum should he reach Tampa. This will have the effect of eliminating the delegate disadvantage in IL that Santorum was facing, particularly in the 13th Congressional District. It's now possible Santorum may split the delegate allocations by CD with Mitt Romney, or may in face take the lead, despite Romney getting more of the popular vote, since the Congressional Districts around Chicago have less delegates allocated than the more Republican Friendly Congressional Districts in mid/down state.

You will have to do a Google search for the News-story because the source is apparentally not a welcomed source on FR, though it has been confirmed in other outlets that the story is true, but they keep referring back to the original source.

Suggest you type in the Google Search Box:

"Santorum" + "Gingrich" + "Delegates" + "IL"

or search "Jim Runyon"

I’d like to believe Gingrich himself is behind this. Between them, Santorum and Gingrich are within around 100 delegates of Romney.

Here’s one out of MyFoxAtlanta with the details:

http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpps/news/mitt-romney-rick-santorum-delegate-math-illinois-primary-polls-campaign-university-chicago-20120319_18659680

Correction: This really has no effect on the 3 upstate CD’s in Chicago that were Romney anyway. What it does do is that it eliminates the potential splitting of the conservative vote that might arise in mid/downstate so that Santorum still gets an advantage as if he was in the one on one with Romney.

I had IL projected as 47-22 for Romney in Delegates. Santorum may cross 30 now, and that would be as good as a win given the remaining states.

I heard Beck ask Santorum today “Look, I know you and Gingrich are friends, but have you asked him to get out yet? Santorum told him he did not ask him to get in and will not aske him to get out, but no matter what Newt does, the delegates in Ill. are switching to Santorum and this will probably continue.”

If they’re working together at all they have to keep it unofficial and quiet due to campaign finance laws. I know Newt and Rick are a lot tighter than is portrayed.

Sounds as if the 13th district is an island of relative sanity in the sh*thole which is the Chicago area. Last time a Democrat warmed the seat here was 1895.

I know Mark Levin gave Newt the idea of teaming up with Santorum since Levin believes Romney and Ron Paul have an alliance of some kind. Levin told Newt to listen to audio of his show talking about this one night. The night Santorum won Miss. and Alabama, CNN said he and Newt were on the phone talking for a long time.

I forgot to add that CNN said that night Gingrich said “Santorum and I would make a good team.” CNN laughed and said “Right! Now that Santorum won Miss. and Alabama! Of course!” I found it very interesting.....

Geez looks like the establishment Republicans are ganging up on Newt again. Little Ricky stabbed him in the back when he was in Congress and now he is doing it again. Yeah this the guy I want as my president. Mitts look better all the time, if the weasel Santorum is the alternative.

Someone on Fox said the establishment in the Republican party approached Gingriches money donor in Vegas and begged him to stop giving him money a while ago. They said they knew this for a fact. The establishment want Newt out very badly.

We thought long and hard before voting today, and then did what we thought we should from our hearts whether he has a chance or not—Newt Gingrich!

The real weasel in this whole race is Gingrich who enabled Romney to capture MI and OH instead of gracefully dropping out like his predecessors, Bachman, Cain, and Perry. Now according to a new ABC News/WaPo poll, 60% of women have an unfavorable view of Gingrich and he isn’t doing too great among men either. His crushing defeat in FL where he lost in every single major demographic should have been a sign for him to have immediately bowed out of the race given his clear and decidedly “un-electability” factor.
