Harry Reid ignorant of free market system

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., stuffed his foot in his mouth yet again when he said, “Millionaire job creators are imaginary like unicorns, they don’t exist.” Apart from the country’s movers, shakers and innovators, I submit that all millionaires are job creators, even those we call the “idle rich.” You know, people like Thurston Howell III of “Gilligan’s Island” fame.

Harry Reid recently announced to the US Senate that there’s no such thing as a “millionaire job-creator.” The author tries to prove Harry Ried wrong, using “Gilligan’s Island” Thurston Howell III as an example. Does he succeed?

It’s highly more fitting to just truncate that lede to: “Harry Reid ignorant.”

“Millionaire job creators are imaginary like unicorns, they don’t exist"

I'll mention this to the owner of a company I consult for. He built the place from the ground up (starting out in his basement) and now it employs 300-plus people internationally.

Might be hard to catch him though. Far from idle, he's always travelling for work.

The difference between democrats and socialists is a non-existent, fanciful, imaginary quality. Even less real than unicorns.

He's not ignorant at all. He knows exactly what he is doing.

He and Romney and Obama won't stop until they start a full blown blood and guts class war...After which they can crack down and have the marxist police state they really want.

The company I work for (28+ years!) was started in a garage. We now have just short of 1300 employees, but often go over 2000 including outside contractors.

Ignorance is believing somehow that jobs are created by people without significant money or access to it and the willingness to invest. Stupidity is believing they can start a violent class war in this country and be likely to survive it much less win. Behind every blade of grass, Harry, every blade of grass.

Well, bringing up Mr Howell immediately reminded me of the luxury excise tax they tried to put on yachts a couple decades ago. It decimated the business and put a LOT of people and companies under.

We all know the apple pie analogy as applied to economics.

Harry Reid, like the rest of the left, see wealth as a fixed ‘pie’ rather then as it really is, an ever expanding ‘pie’.

I don’t think anyone (but, possibly film celebrities) ever got or stayed rich by being idle.

Liberals watch too much TV and too many movies.

THEY do not live in the workday world which is populated by people who are speculating, investing in their own business, investing in others’ business, hiring, insuring, training/RE training, paying, promoting and equipping workers WHILE competing with the guy down the block who is doing exactly the same thing.

This goes on always to one degree or another depending on just HOW successful and wealthy businesspeople want to be. It’s called Capitalism and it WORKS.

No one except laughably gullible college sophomores mistake this process for anything but what it IS.

No one but idiots and unprincipled politicians would exchange this process for an impossible and unworkable Utopian alternative, which would pauperize EVERYONE just because a few will NOT work and compete … even though they live in the most wealthy nation on earth and have access to the most and best opportunities for education and advancement!!!

He knows good and well that remark is not true. That is the true Evil of the Democratic Party.

They spout this gibberish banking on their authority in a purely political move to create an alternate reality that gives them the power of life and death in their socialist utopia. The Bizarro Party.

Starting with Eastman, then Ford then to modern day with the founders of Gateway computers, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs. These people are real. That Howell III character is imaginary like Harry Reid’s mentality or intelligence.

Behind every blade of grass, Harry, every blade of grass.

Harry is entirely too ignorant to understand your literary allusion. I would judge most of us here are not. And you are entirely correct in your assumptions regarding both the ultimate intention of people like Mr. Reid and, even at this late date, the likely outcome.

Dirty Harry's FOS. He knows darn well that his financier, Joe Conforte, was a millionaire and created jobs for many women who in turn, gave lots and lots and lots of jobs.

Sen. “Bottleneck to The Senate” Reid is a Multi-Millionaire.

BTW, just post Millionaire Reid’s net $ worth here. It will give the lurkers a chuckle.

You’re right, Smarty. Even investing requires thought and work, and more than that - risk. The liberals fail to take the risk part into account when they decry the 15% capital gains tax. CGs should be taxed at a lower rate; the principle amount was already taxed at the maximum rate, and the amount invested could just as easily be lost tomorrow.
