“No Bond for Uzbek Terror Suspect Muhtorov, Federal Judge Rules”
by Felisa Cardona
February 15, 2012

SNIPPET: “Uzbek refugee Jamshid Muhtorov won’t be released on bond, a federal magistrate judge ruled this afternoon, citing concerns he might leave the country and poses a danger to the community.”

SNIPPET: “On Jan. 21, Muhtorov was arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport on his way to Istanbul, Turkey after agents tracked his emails and phone calls for months after he made contact with the administrator of a pro-IJU website.

The FBI found about $2,800 in cash, two shrink-wrapped iPhones, an iPad and a GPS device with him upon his arrest.”

“Bond considered for Aurora terrorist suspect”

Posted: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 6:25 am | Updated: 6:21 am, Thu Feb 16, 2012.
Associated Press

SNIPPET: “AURORA | An Uzbek refugee living in Aurora morphed from a human rights worker to someone who either provided or tried to provide support to a terrorist organization that actively engages NATO and U.S. forces in Afghanistan, federal prosecutors said Tuesday during a bond hearing.”

SNIPPET: “”In any given case, I’d be concerned with the defendant. A person who has a family, then quits his job and buys a one-way ticket to Turkey is clearly a sign that he’s not living in the best of circumstances,” Hegarty said in telling Leedy why he would probably not grant bail.”

snippet: “The FBI said Muhtorov communicated with a contact with the IJU by email using code words, asking to be invited to the “wedding.” He also told the contact that he was “ready for any task, even with the risk of dying,” the FBI said.”
