Sorry, no sale. Newts don’t change their spots. He’s a smart guy, figured out where to tap into a support base, and is now telling Conservatives what they want to hear to get elected. If he somehow wins it all, he will quickly revert back to his RINO ways. Mark my words.

Four reasons that I support Newt:

1- His conservative record as Speaker - it is truly amazing,
2 - His strong views about Islamism as a threat to our nation,
3- His perception and solutions about our judges and courts - they are turning into the legislative branch. I trust him on court appointments.
4 - His ability to communicate.

This will have to suffice as a reply to all who responded to my vanity: First of all, thanks to every one who did respond. To those who told me I’m full of it; You may be right. To those who, sort of, agreed with my opinion, I HOPE we’re right. To everyone who has read the vanity and/or is reading this exchange I can only say:

Out of the field of candidates we started out with, you all can see and know who and what is now left standing. After Iowa and New Hampshire the field will probably be thinned out even more. I was for Sarah Palin from the git-go, but was forced to watch THAT dream shrivel and die. We’ve got to face it; we’re going to have to go with what we’ve got.

I like Michelle, sort of. I heard El Rushbo’s kind words about her. But I think that in a tough political donnybrook, the political sharks would make a snack of her.

I like Santorum, and he’s a Pennsyltucky boy; but he’s not getting any traction and the clock is running down.

To my mind, that leaves Newt, who is to all appearances, and whether or not he’s our favorite, a viable candidate.

Also, to my mind, Zero has gotten us into one H of a fix, and if we don’t replace him with someone who can turn it around, we’re toast!

If Newt is elected there is a chance that he may bail out on all the promises on www.newt.org and take us straight down the tubes. One thing is for sure; the alien who NOW occupies the White Hut INTENDS to take us down the tubes, and is working feverishly to accomplish it!

Newt has flaws aplenty. But I don’t think I have any choice but to believe he means to turn the Country back to her Constitutional roots. He also has the backbone and the in-your-face courage to hold his own in a political donnybrook.

So after surveying the direction Obummer is NOW taking us, and realizing what we have left to work with as potential nominees; I don’t think I have any choice but to slide my chips over on the NEWT spot, white-knuckle my chair, and hold on for dear life until Election Night 2012.

Tell ya what, if Newt comes out and publicly states that he’ll repeal the Sporting Purpose clause of the 1968 GCA, Hughes Amendment, and all reporting requirements for multiple purchases of any firearms, and severely restrict the BATFE and their authority on firearms given how they and the DOJ have totally abused their authority in F&F, I’ll vote for him.

But I want him to say it and mean it. If he can’t, he doesn’t earn my vote. I’ll leave the Presidential selection blank.

I will no longer support the status quo. Gun laws are going to go away one way or another. If we can’t have a candidate that will support that, let Obama win so we can get on with a civil war and put this nation back on the right track.

Tucker, this is a friendly tip for the future. If you are trying to persuade the anti-Newt crowd, you’d do well not to include the following line:

“I believe Callista and her parents led him to faith in Christ.”

I’m not the only woman whose ex cheated on her who read that. You cannot imagine how infuriating that concept is from a wife’s perspective. The idea that the cheating, slutty homewrecker can concomitantly lead the husband she plans to marry—just as soon as he’s ‘free’—to faith in Christ is beyond the pale.

There are no Scriptural guidelines for how to evangelize the married man via adulterous sex. The Bible has a lot to say about marriage, adultery and divorce, but nothing to say about converting a married man before, during or after breaking up his marriage and then marrying him yourself. The idea that Calista somehow gets credit for her role in this is mind boggling. Have conservatives gone mad?

Maybe she can write a book and start a trend. ‘Evangelism for Fun and Profit: the story of how cheating w a married man led not only to his conversion, but also to a half million dollar line of credit at Tiffany’s’. It would likely be a hot seller. Anybody who can rationalize that can compete w the likes of Jim Bakker. There is money to be made by ‘evangelists’ large and small, if illicit sex on the side is not an issue.
