During this GOP Presidential campaign, I have become increasingly disgusted with the level of vitriol aimed at the candidates and individual FReepers.

Well said, Sodpoodle

I'm getting a little concerned as well. The view we as Republicans have presented to the American public this debate cycle has been of a party which cannot and will not come to any consensus amongst itself on how to govern.

Our candidates, for the most part, have acted like immature brats during the debates, and we Freepers have attacked one another with incredible malice.

I understand that a certain amount of this is to be expected, but it's been especially fierce and VISIBLE this election

It would behoove us to remember that we're all on the same team, here.

Come November we face the real enemy, and if we become too bitter at each other now, how can we unite then?

Best to temper our passions with civility.

Thank you.

Once upon a time Judeo-Christian ethics guided our lives and the principles of our elected representatives. When society began abandoning those golden rules - local and State legislatures stepped in (abortion=illegal).

Thereafter, libertines, (ACLU) began to fight every civilized, moral law under the misnomer of civil ‘rights’. The left has been very successful in comparing every moral tenet to a form of discrimination. Which, of course, is preposterous.

Freedom is not a license to commit crimes of indecency against humanity.

As a follow up to post 59 (where I pointed out Cain was discussing the question of forcing a woman to raise a child in the case of rape, not abortion) I present this:

10/17/11

“What about abortion? You want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Could you support or condone abortion under any exceptions at all?” Gregory asked Cain.

“I believe in life from conception, and I do not agree with abortion under any circumstances,” Cain responded. “Not for rape and incest because if you look at, you look at rape and incest, the, the percentage of those instances is so miniscule that there are other options. If it’s the life of the mother, that family’s going to have to make that decision.”

I read the same story here, came looking to see if it was already posted ...thank you!

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/herman-cain-tells-piers-morgan-that-he-is-anti-abortion-yet-pro-choice/

There is no wiggle room for him here, just as I have been saying, Cain has not been vetted yet, OK it is beginning now!

I said on a couple Cain threads over the past month that he has not yet been vetted, and they came down on me like you would not believe...I have vetted him, they all said one at a time.

HE HAS NOT BEEN VETTED.

This fits why he is still in the ALL black Democrat Church.

I am against abortion except in the cae of rape of if the mother WILL die if she tries to carry the baby to term.

In the case of rape I believe that along with the rape kit, a “morning after pill” should be offered. This is you only chance to make sure that your rapist does not make you pregnant.

“and he has consistently taken a federalist position. That Roe v. Wade should be overturned, that the federal government has no role in these matters, and that it should be outlawed at the state level.”

That right there, to a lot of these people for whom abortion is the ONLY issue means that he is pro-abortion. I kid you not.

I took it to mean there was a choice between raising the baby, which WAS the question, and adoption. He’s stated his pro-life views repeatedly. He doesn’t HAVE to say he was against an exception for rape and incest, but he does anyway.

His pro-life support is sterling.

What an irony, the only guy that consistently argues that abortion should even be illegal in the cased of rape and incest isn’t pro-life enough, because he wants to outlaw it at the state level instead of the federal level.

Herman Cain

Life, liberty & pursuit of happiness starts with unborn life

The Founding Fathers got it right. The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. That wasn’t an accident. Their vision meant that you could pursue happiness in America as long as you don’t infringe upon the liberties of somebody else. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don’t infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn.

Defund Planned Parenthood; intent was to kill black babies

I absolutely would defund Planned Parenthood—not because I don’t believe in planning parenthood, [but because] Planned Parenthood as an organization is an absolute farce on the American people.
People who know the history of Margaret Sanger, who started Planned Parenthood, they know that the intention was not to help young women who get pregnant to plan their parenthood. No—it was a sham to be able to kill black babies.

Life begins at conception, period

I believe that life begins at conception, period. And that means that I will have to see enough evidence that someone I would appoint shares that same view. I believe that the current Supreme Court is leaning too much to the liberal side.
I’m a Christian, I’ve been a Christian all my life. I’ve been a believer in the Bible since I was 10 years old. I’m very active in my church, and there is no way I would compromise my religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. And so it starts with, will they have demonstrated, in some of their other rulings, if they come from the federal judge bench, whether or not they also share that.
Because I believe that the principles that our Founding Fathers cherished, when they founded this country, and wrote the Declaration of Independence which inspired the Constitution, they were based upon biblical principles. I want to get back to those principles as president, if I run and get elected—not rewrite those documents.

You sound like you are on the defensive. This is to serious a thing to not look into, he needs to be vetted that`s all I am saying!

Perhaps he may end up being the guy last standing, he needs to be vetted.

Mary Landraus(sp) Sen out of LA, actually in a tight re election said she was pro life and pro choice, I heard her say it. Kind of what Cain said.

My candidate is Gov Sarah Palin, other than that I have no candidate.

My candidate has been vetted, Cain as well as others have not.

Do not be so defensive

I would suggest that anyone who conjectures that Cain, who is an assistant Baptist Pastor, is anywhere near anything other the staunchly anti abortion is delusional. I would also suggest that anyone who does, for whatever reason, put forth that conjecture should be considered ill informed at best and probably malicious.

Perhaps that is why Cain said, “You are mixing two different things.” referring to that question.

You're joking, right? All I said is "Who is your candidate and what is their stance on abortion?"

This is to serious a thing to not look into, he needs to be vetted that`s all I am saying!

Show me where I (or anyone) said that Cain shouldn't be vetted. I have often posted links to his books, writings, radio show, biography, commentaries, interviews, speeches - so that people can knock themselves out.

Many of us have kept up with Cain since around 2004 - some here even worked on his Senate campaign. He's a pretty open book for all to see - his writings, radio show, everything is right out the open. His bio is clear and there is a myriad of colleagues, bosses, employees, family members, church members, etc. to talk to. So please, vet to your hearts content.

I asked about your candidate because I know that Perry is for abortion in cases of rape, incest and life of the mother. We all know where Romney stands. Palin and Santorum are for abortion in cases of life of the mother and believe it is a state's issue. Bachmann is the only one who says no under any circumstance (including life of the mother)

After listening to the interview at Breitbart it is clear he is saying that he does not believe government should get in the way of someone who wants to have an abortion. He makes it clear at the end he does not believe that government should be making laws based on "social issues". So clearly he does not want abortion outlawed. For me this makes me wonder on other "social issues" where does Cain stand? Does he believe that government should not define marriage as between a man and a woman? Does he believe gay people have a right to be married? Sure maybe he personally doesn't like it but maybe he believes that government should stay out of the way. I believe this is a legit question. Im sorry but any true conservative should be committed to protecting the unborn and to protecting the family which is a man and a woman. Im starting to think that Rick and Michelle are the only ones running that truly believe in this.

My apologies on the ‘no vetting’ charge.

Just that has been my experience with other Cain supporters that have said to me that they have already vetted him personally.

Sarah Palin`s pro life credentials are not in question thank you
