No question it’s the parent who censors the child’s music. My daughter fell in love with Sweet Child ‘O Mine, but the album was off limits to her for a few years. Same with Alannis Morrisette. But as parents that’s our job, not the musician’s.
By the way I am convinced to this day Neil Peart has a 3rd arm he keeps hidden from the world until he sits at the drums.
LOL on the 3rd arm.
My kid’s like the alternative Christian music. One daughter is into the softer style. One is into rock, and slight “screamo”, and their older brother is into hardcore “screamo”, rap and others - but all Christian. I can’t stand the music, but pretty tough to tell him to turn it off when it is Christian. (Just keep it down so I can’t hear it!)
I went to a three-day Christian concert with them. I had a real tough time listening to the Screamo junk (and could barely understand it). But between the songs the guys would talk. Better than a lot of preachers, and would bring a tear to my eye thinking of all these kids (10,000+) hearing it. And WANTING to hear it.
Still goofy music though to this old fart!
If you want to check it out... here is my personal testimony.
