Amen! No guts, no glory.
In one particular area, though, Palin is far and away the safest risk of any other candidate or possible candidate. She is the SAFEST AND BEST RISK OF ALL in terms of MSM vetting and digging for scandal. She's been vetted up one side and down the other for the past three years, and the process has demonstrated two things:
1. Her closets are apparently empty of skeletons. If three years of digging have come up empty, then it's probably because the closets are empty.
2. She is diamond-tough in her ability to take the equivalent of multiple, continuous nuclear blasts from the news media and pop culture (Letterman, Leno, etc.) and still stand strong and smiling!!! Mentally, she's one tough person who KEEPS HER COOL.
That second point is the one that's the most telling to me, and why I want her in the White House. I hope she runs, and I hope she wins big.
Christie has been/is very good for New Jersey. He should continue to do good for New Jersey. I am afraid that a losing run for the nomination will vitiate his usefulness in New Jersey while contributing nothing to the Conservative cause nationally.
The other half of that is "if he works like hell while he waits!" and I suspect Mrs. Palin is doing just that.
That second point is the most telling comparison to Reagan.
My evidence is that he's a n00bie schmuck who showed up and started
bombarding the site with his own long winded propaganda.
Free Republic didn't need a sage or a savior and if we did it wouldn't be him.

But HG, you’re changing the subject. Nobody is talking about saviors. You specifically accused him of making money by pointing people to his blog (which in this case didn’t happen, because his article was reproduced in its entirety on Conservatives 4 Palin). Are you saying you don’t actually have any specific, substantive evidence to back up your claim?
Because if I’m looking to figure out who I trust and who I don’t, people making wild, baseless charges, including defamation by innuendo of perversion, against total strangers slip pretty far down on my “trust” list. Not that you care. Just sayin...

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't see it.
My read is that Humblegunner hates most bloggers for his own reasons, and that those reasons have nothing to do with being a “supporter of GOP elitists.”
You can tell a lot about someone by who his friends and enemies are. His “blogpimp police” group, who seem to include Eaker, TheOldLady, Larry Lucido, DeoVindiceSicSemperTyrannis, 50mm, shibumi, Salamander, thackney, Bean Counter, Markos33, and perhaps some others, don't strike me as a group of GOP elitists.
If there's any agenda at all, it seems to be to defend Gov. Rick Perry against what they believe are false attacks related to Gardasil, and that may have more to do with Perry and Humblegunner both being Texans than anything else.
Well, to my ears.. he's the only one of the lot that doesn't talk funny. ;-)

On a more serious note, welcome back to the States. I know nothing about you except from your posts, but I gather you're a civilian contractor who has spent more time in Iraq than a lot of our “green suiters.” I've spent enough time attending Society of American Military Engineers meetings and listening to the “official” stuff coming from Fort Leonard Wood to know that there's no way our uniformed personnel in the modern Army could do their jobs without non-uniformed people doing what you do, so thank you for your service over there.
My niece is hoping that in about two years she'll be able to do some “girls with guns” stuff, presuming that Afghanistan doesn't quiet down first. It's not every ethnic Korean soldier who is fully fluent in Korean who decides to go ahead and learn Arabic as well so she won't get an automatic assignment to “quiet” duty in South Korea.
I didn't say anything I mind saying publicly, but I doubt very many people are interested in what was written as a private note, and it has little to do with the main point of this thread.
