NFL HoFer Jerry Rice: Obama’s Problems Past and Current ‘Inherited from George Bush’
Three Fingers of Politics ^ | July 29, 2011 | Stupac

The most recent issue of ESPN the Magazine, the bi-weekly publication of the 24-hours cable sports network ESPN, gave current and former pro athletes their own segment to “sound off” on various subjects, including news of the day. [INSERT LINK TO ARTICLE] While most athletes discussed rule changes to their respective sports or things they’d like to accomplish after sports, former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice took a different. Instead, he offered readers some thoughts on President Barack Obama’s performance. Shorter version – it’s George Bush’s fault: "I think with President Obama, everyone is criticizing him for taking on what George Bush left him. Give him an opportunity. This is something he inherited from George Bush. I really try to stay out of politics and all of that, but to see everything happening on television with people constantly bashing him with their different opinions -- we have wars, the deficit, all of this stuff. There is so much going on right now that it's going to take him a while to turn this around. So just give him a chance." Apparently two-and-half years aren’t long enough for Rice. Just exactly how much time is needed to fix what Obama “inherited” from President Bush? Rice, a NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver, played the majority of his career for the San Francisco 49ers. He was an amazing wide receiver in his day, winning three Super Bowls and racking up some gaudy stats (208 TDs, 22,895 receiving yards and 1,549 receptions). Although he claims he “really” tries to stay out of politics, perhaps he should and stick to talking football.

I was going to mention the “R” word but thought better of it.

We all start out with some sort of inheritance. It’s what we do with it and where we go form there. Yes, he inherited a mess. And he has made it a lot messier.
Not enough people understand the mess that he inherited. It was not the product of small government and free markets. It was the product of government machnination, manipulation, control, spending. It was too much government. So the solution is NOT even more of the same.

I’m sick of hearing this from blacks in FUBU mode.

I’m reading this as Rice not being able to see beyond black and non-black. He names George W Bush as the problem only because in context it means “white guy”, the black Obama has to deal with the massive problems left by all the George Bushes, all the white guys.

I've never liked Rice so his opinion doesn't matter. It's based on race anyway.

I'd much rather have a nice, classy player like Emmitt Smith. Now, that would disappoint me if Smith backed Odumbo!

I wish the reporter would have gone into great detail in questioning Rice about his political views on various subjects. I'm relatively sure it would have exposed Rice's support for Obama to be directly related to his increased melanin production.

The Raiders and Davis have the ability to turn gold into garbage. Everyone who plays under the silver and black magically disappears. Couldn’t have anything to do with the Raider’s organization, now would it?

Rice is proof that ball playing doesn’t necessarily equate to brain performance. I doubt he is capable of understanding that Obama was supposed to work to fix/undo or at least try to change whatever what went on in past years. Instead Obama and his cabal, now including Rice, intentionally worsened the problem at a rate of 2-3 times what went on previously instead of any remedy. Rice must recognize that whatever Obama and his cabal have been setting up isn’t working to the benefit of many of those people who made him a millionaire.

Obomber “inherited” good and bad things from George Bush. The problem is he is an incompetent leader whose policies are anti-capitalism. The economy will not get better until he is out of office, whether it be in one year or five years.

Always remember obama didn't inherit anything. He volunteered for this job.

YES! YES! YES! Don't let anyone forget this! Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors!

The next time I screw things up on my job, I’ll just tell my boss: “It’s not my fault, it’s the fault of the guy who worked here three years ago.” I’m sure that will be considered a perfectly valid excuse.

Jerry, as a fan of yours during your time with the 49ers, I believe you were the greatest WR of all time.

But, when it comes to political matters, you’re a dumb-assed neophyte.

Please, Jerry... STFU.

Even if true, Jerry, this argument is about as helpful as blaming youg QB for hitting you on the hands when you dropped the pass. Obama has has numerous opportunities, and he’s only made things worse.
