As Texas Gov. Rick Perry comes closer and closer to jumping into the race for the White House, he's also close to the top of a new national survey in the battle for the GOP presidential nomination.
A CNN/ORC International Poll released Friday indicates that 14 percent of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP pick Perry as their first choice for their party's nomination, just two points behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who's making his second bid for the White House. Romney's two point margin over Perry is within the survey's sampling error.
....former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin are at 13 percent... both Giuliani, who ran for the presidency four years ago, and Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008, have flirted with bids, neither has taken concrete steps towards launching a campaign.
The survey indicates that Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota has the support of 12 percent, with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who's making his third run for the presidency, at eight percent, and former Godfather's Pizza CEO and radio talk show host Herman Cain at six percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is at four percent, with former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty at three percent, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania at two percent, and former Utah Gov. and former U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman at one percent. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and Rep. Thad McCotter of Michigan both register at less than one half of one percent.
According to the poll, Perry appears to be changing some GOP minds.
"In May, 50 percent of Republicans said that they did not want Perry to throw his hat in the ring; now, 50 percent say they would welcome a bid by Perry,".....

*** 3:00 Video: Time for Perry -- Mr. President, November 2012 is not very far away [then gives the Aggie YELL!] Rick Perry ***
I have serious reservations about Perry’s stance on criminal invaders (illegal ‘immigrants’) but would welcome his proven expertise in all other conservative endeavors. Maybe he can conservatize more with voters pushing him?
Oh, goody! The flavor of the month!
Cindie
Vicente Fox thanks Rick Perry for giving university access to mexican “migrants”.

I’d probably vote over generic democrat over Obama
Ten reasons why I would support Perry over Romney:
1. Romney was a loser in the last round of Republican presidential primaries (he lost to another Republican loser)
2. Massachusetts’ Romney-care -another debacle
3. The left-wing press is pushing for Romney’s nomination - always a serious danger sign.
4. Romney strikes me as a rich pretty-boy who will not hit hard at Obama so that it hurts and will be intimidated by Obama and the DNC’s Gestapo tactics just like McLame was.
5. Perry runs an economically successful state
6. Perry doesn’t strike me as afraid of anyone and will take on creeps like debbie wasserman-s**tface
7. He has personal appeal for both women and men as a “man’s man.”
8. Perry believes in the integirty of the Constitution and the prerogatives of States’ rights.
9. He doesn’t give the crap that Bush did about “compassionate conservatism” as if 9.2% unemployment, 14.5 trillions dollars in debt and an economy in the basket is something we should aspire to. Conservatism doesn’t need to be compassionate simply because it works. It puts people to work, lowers government intrusion in our lives, lets the free market work as it should, and doesn’t add unnecessary capital-draining regulations onto small businesses which are the engine of our economy. Compassion belongs in churches and civic organizations. Government just needs to limit its role in the lives of individual citizens and in the operation of each of the sovereign States of the United States.
10. Who wants to add another to round it off at 10 ???????????

He will just add to the above list.....
Perry is a frat boy with used car salesman hair and tv preacher taste.
First Degree RINO.
I wish I had a tanker truck of RINO-BE-GONE and I would go to Austin an fumigate the place. They would run out like roaches when you turn the light on.
One *big* roach would have nice hair.
Obviously CNN has Palin Derangement Syndrome.
Perry does not believe there is valid scientific proof of anthropogenic global warming. He has said several times that there is no scientific consensus on the issue.
On September 7, 2007 Perry gave a speech to California Republicans. He said, "Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won't read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story."

..Gore won a seat in Congress in 1976 "with 32 percent of the vote, three percentage points more than his nearest rival." He won the next three elections in 1978, 1980, and 1982 where "he was unopposed twice and won 79 percent of the vote the other time." In 1984, Gore successfully ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate, which had been vacated by Republican Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker. He was "unopposed in the Democratic Senatorial primary and won the general election going away," despite the fact that Republican President Ronald Reagan swept Tennessee in his reelection campaign the same year. Some people like my wife will never vote for somebody who supported a pro-abortion candidate for President, like Perry did in 2008. I bet there are a lot of interesting rules like those out there.
......."During his time in Congress, [Al] Gore was considered a "moderate" (he referred to himself as a "raging moderate") opposing federal funding of abortion, voting in favor of a bill which supported a moment in silence in schools, and voting against a ban on interstate sales of guns. His position as a moderate (and on policies related to that label) shifted later in life after he became Vice President and ran for president in 2000

We need those individuals to continue to grow our economy, Perry told a briefing with reporters.
If you show up illegally, without your card or youre here as a criminal element, Im for throwing the book at those folks, but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that. Gov. Perry and The TEXAS Dream Act
[snip]
Its important to point out that there is a huge difference in the Texas Dream Act and the The Dream Act that was pushed in Congress and failed. The Dream Act in Congress was full of all kinds of goodies other than allowing children of illegals to receive in state tuition. The Texas Dream Act was focused only on that. I happen to agree with The Texas Dream Act, and so did everyone in the Senate in Texas. It passed with ZERO no votes. Add to that, it has been proven to be successful.
These are a few things you need to know about the [2001] Texas Dream Act. The child has to have lived in Texas the three years leading up to high school graduation. These students are given no special treatment in getting into Texas colleges and universities. They must get in on their own merit. They are paying the tuition (with or without financial aid). Its estimated that these students make up about 1% of those entering college.

Most of us agree that border control MUST be dealt with first. The problem with all other efforts on this issue in the past is that the borders were not sealed. If there is anyone who we can trust to do that it is Gov. Perry (if he decides to run for President). He knows what goes on down at the border. He has gone there many times. He knows what needs to be done. There is no doubt in my mind that if he were President, he would seal our borders. But Perry also understands Hispanic outreach.

Check out some of the lunatics in the CNN comments section and you’ll get a good idea of where they will first try to smear Perry. Accusing him of being a secessionist & Klan member.
Perry LOVES America and he is proud to say it!
He is the ONLY person that I look at and say that I could support him and I am glad he's running. Nobody in (or not yet in) has me thinking that we can beat the POS in the WH.
TURN OUT will be key.
If the DEMS even smell a close vote they will pull out every voter fraud trick in the book — they’ve been perfecting them for decades.
Reagan was a Democrat.
Don’t forget that he, too, did some really stupid things while he was on the Dark Side.
We should play it up and keep bringing up the April 15th connection -- and why he said it!
Now, as for this KKK crap, that is EXACTLY WHY I POSTED THIS THREAD:
Rick Perry's Confederate past [Salon "exclusive" that gets it wrong]
Oh and then there’s that “rumor” that he’s gay.
They are going to go nuts but he is going to fight back and I can’t wait.
