If Islam is really a religion of peace, and there are only a few "extremists" who high-jack it, as Dr. Medhi Aminrazavi, Director of UMW Middle East Studies suggests, then why are Afghan citizens in jail and facing the death penalty for changing their religion?
Why was a young Pakistani woman Asia Bibi wrongly arrested, put in jail, convicted of "blasphemy", and given a death sentence? Her story is here.
And even in countries where Islam is not the majority religion, Muslim women are often harrassed, and sometimes lose their life in "honor killings". For absurd reasons such as being "too western".

International Petition as Afghan Christians Face Execution:
"KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (BosNewsLife)-- Christian rights activists launched on Monday, February 7, an international petition urging Afghanistan to release detained converts to Christianity, amid fears they may be executed."
"Barnabas Fund, an advocacy group closely following the case, told BosNewsLife that among Christian prisoners in "immediate danger" are 45-year-old Said Musa, a father of six, and another Christian, identified as Shoaib Assadullah, 25. Both men could face execution on charges of apostasy, or abandoning Islam, a crime punished by death under Islamic law and upheld by Afghanistan's constitution."
"Musa was detained in Kabul in May after footage was nationally televised of Muslim converts to Christianity being baptized, BosNewsLife reported earlier. The broadcast triggered protests throughout the country and a national government crackdown against Christian converts, according to rights activists and Christians."
"Musa suggested in a handwritten letter carried out of his Kabul prison and published by BosNewsLife last year that so far lawyers refused to defend him. "Nobody [want to be my] defender before the court. When I said 'I am a Christian man', he [a potential lawyer] immediately spat on me and abused me and mocked me...I am alone between 400 [people with] terrible values in the jail, like a sheep," he wrote."

Insane? How can this possibly be insane? Where’s is your multicultural appreciation and sensitivity? To leave the mooslim “religion” is an insult to mooslims (even if unintentional). Surely (and justly) they should have their heads chopped off (and possibly their house burned to smoldering embers). Be careful everyone for the mooslims are seemingly very easily insulted and may come chop off your pretty head. nobama would probably find this action just.

Yes, even if you were born to a Muslim father, you are considered a Muslim. If you were born to a Muslim father and have studied the Koran, and have said the call to prayer in front of two witnesses*, you are a Muslim.
If you then convert to Christianity, you are an apostate and can be sentenced to death.
Sort of similar to the Spanish Inquisition checking up on converted Jews, but nobody today expects the Spanish Inquisition.
*The call to prayer includes a couple of lines in which your faith in Allah, and your belief that Mohammed is Allah’s prophet, is confirmed. Saying that in front of two witnesses is, I think, all it takes to convert TO Islam.
In that wonderful, freedom loving, democracy seeking, country of Egypt, 84% believe in the death penalty for anyone that leaves Islam.
I think we should tell the Afgan govenment, whom we put in power, that if they execute this man, or any other for religious reasons, the US will cut off all aid and pull out its troops.

UNLESS they actually read the Koran/Hadiths and truely believe it’s an authentic guide
to their religion and endeavour to put the Koran’s directives into physical practice.
Devout, practicing Muslims following the commands of the Koran/Hadiths...
that’s what scares the cr-p out of me.
