Rutland, consider what site you are on ... some things cannot be understood by some people.
Brown got elected cuz a bunch of liberal, suburban moms voted for him. (He voted against Kagen, and it is tough to see how we got a MASS vote against Kagen.) What a waste of time talking about Brown when there is so much else going on. And who reads the D-Beast, anyway?
With Charlie Bass right up the road, a truly repulsive RINO, why do we spend time talking about Brown? Too much “all-talk, no action” by conservatives let Bass win the primary.
“He knew all along that he would stab Republicans in the back once the Elitist got to Washington in his truck!”
His skillful use of the truck as a political prop was brilliant. He used it to great effect against the Tea Party and the media to create a populist image for himself. RINO Scotty is probably going to drive back home in a Prius after his brief stint in DC.
I don't think even the the biggest Scott Brown supporters of last year seriously considered him presidential material. Yes, I know the prospect of a 2012 run was thrown out there just after Scott's upset win last January, but that was just giddiness and more of a jab at Obama than anything else. The general feeling at the time was why not Scott Brown for president - I mean, we just elected a president who was nothing more than a "community organizer."
Scott Brown's performance as U.S. senator is obviously a huge disappointment to me. I supported his candidacy when he was running for the open senate seat here and honestly, I thought it would be a refreshing change to have a Republican in the senate representing Massachusetts.
However, while I am somewhat shamed for my enthusiastic support of him during his senatorial bid, I still do not regret my vote. The alternative would have been Martha Coakley and her victory would have given Obama a huge victory at the time and would have had socialized health care rammed down our throats even faster.
I also believe the momentum of the Tea Party would have been blunted somewhat had Scott Brown not prevailed. Even though Scott Brown was never truly a Tea Party member himself, it was the Tea Party that supported his campaign here and pushed him over the top. Scott's victory gave the Tea Party a lot of national attention and paved the way to the GOP blowout in November.
Pretty much sums it all up. Good post.
Massachusettes and its prior settlement state should be given back to the King.
If you claim to be a conservative all is lost.
Brown is certainly not conservative by the standards of states that consistently vote Repuplicans into office. He may only be moderately conservative. Heck, he may just be a moderate and not really all that conservative. But he's an improvement over any Kennedy and certainly over Martha Coakley.
It was a victory, for Massachusetts and the country as a whole, whether he shares our sentiments or not. The energy and enthusiasm was genuine, and sparked something in the people. It was an infectious moment, and the country is better off for it having happened.
So, Massachussetts tea partiers, don't browbeat yourself. It's progress.
The only way for us in "fly over country" to live in a Conservative Country is to have another secession and divide the country. Simple as that. This divide has no political solution.
INDEPENDENTS the majority, as you know, voted him in as Republicans had a small minority in the Commonwealth state. Donations came in from all across NE for his campaign.
Just now the whining ? Brown never said he would vote straight Republican ticket but that his allegiance was to his constituents in MA. Brown had said repeatedly you have to give some to get some. He would not make everyone happy all of the time. He was straight up and repeated the same message over and over and never went off track.
The Tea Party was not a deciding factor for his election, but they hung their endorsement on him as they pretty much followed the tide that he would win. Always good to pick the winners. The Howie Carr gave him the exposure he needed in kicking off his campaign.
In another election for governor to the state of Maine came to be, not because of the Tea Party-Dodge group. The latter group was also bent out of shape that the Governor of Maine has not attached himself to them or attributed his success to them. Why should he? They endorsed him, not many voters cared; but again the tide was moving to victory anyway. LePage spent $160,000 to win. Brown and LePage both ran on who they were, their backgrounds, no hidden agendas—and that is how both became elected in overwhelming voter approval. Voters voted person, not party, who they most identified with and that's also where majority of the donations went-to the person and not to any party.
Tracking the United States Congress will give you all the voting record of each member, see and compare overall for oneself.
Don't forget our troops!!!!
Hey Scott, you lied to voters so get off you soapbox. The first red flag should have been he didn’t show his wife until after the election. I thought she was deceased or they were divorced. Then magically she comes prancing out after the election. I knew we were sunk.
They were not going to elect a conservative; just another RINO to vote their continuation of the slush fund gravy train and control. I wonder what his payoff bribe to do this con job was?
No, he hid his wife.

Me too. Never again. Like I posted here last year, the final straw (for me) was when the TPE w/SP stopped in Boston last year, and Snot was “too busy” to appear or even tape a 10 second “Thank you and welcome” blurb. This is the same guy that drags his family to every restaurant opening, museum dedication and sporting event he can, “work” schedule be damned.
He has voted with the Rats on many of the really bad (START, DADT, Bwaney/Dodd Banking BS) pieces of sh*t that are going to have very, very far reaching negative effects on the USA. How is that different from how Coakley would have voted again? Right - it's not.
Plus, his constituent services absolutely suck. A friend of mine, a Korean War vet who campaigned for him and donated $ couldn't even get a call back for a couple questions he had concerning the VA.
“Mass. Is a lost cause state no matter what. I really do not care about Brown.”
You echo my sentiments exactly. Whether he wins or loses next year I don't care. I won't vote for a Rat, but I won't for Brown either. This state is too far gone, it's nonredeemable.
Their not RINO’s, their socialists, we should stop using pc speak to identify socialists other then the term that describes them perfectly,”socialist”
Exactly
You got that right. Make an example of him. Withdraw TP support and let him lose.
I am from NY and I donated money to his campaign. Never again.
A Rhino is someone not governed by the RULE of the Republican Party or Tea Party Law and we know neither have made major mistakes in pushing their "what worked [not] once upon a time" platforms..and candidates still chosen -O'Donnell [Tea Party and Palin] for one, LOST and didn't get a visit from Palin or in the aftermath even hired by FOX News. OUCH! ;)
As I have said before all Conservative/ Independent-[majority] voters in this case-do not fall upon the same metered line on a stick of measure.
The Sun is out and it is not snowing..today--am GONE!
I hope Brown didnt give up his day job, because he won’t be going back to Congress after the next election.
