Sarah Palin: There's a Sucker Born Every Minute (Vanity, not a Palin quote)
February 3, 2011 | techno

Posted on 02/03/2011 7:06:58 AM PST by techno

I have coined a term for CONSERVATIVE VOTERS who are going to be strongly courted and counselled by the MSM and Beltway pundits to vote for someone in the GOP primaries other than Sarah Palin and then ultimately cut their own throat by doing so, bowing to elitist pressure and propaganda being brought to bear against them on a regular basis by telling them they have a sacred obligation to the moderates of America not to vote for someone so extreme and polarizing and who is unelectable, to the urban minorities to reject Palin because she is not a legitimate candidate since she does not embrace identity politics together with being insensitive and intolerant, to certain government occupations that will be made redundant due to Palin's budget cuts, to the rest of society to maintain civility, respect and tranquility in its political discourse and campaign rallies and to not upset the apple cart, to the rest of the world who will take a dim view of a Palin presidency and see it as a loss of face for America and they finally owe it to themselves as CONSERVATIVE VOTERS to intelligently look at the bigger picture and to adopt an noblesse oblige attitude by not casting their vote rashly for Sarah Palin.

By the way, the MSM and the Beltway pundits never ask the same "favor" from liberal or moderate voters who vote in GOP primaries, only the conservatives.

I have dubbed these kinds of conservative voters who succumb to this artful deception as PROXY VOTERS.

Look up the definition of PROXY and the two words that come to mind are stand-in and substitute.

The MSM and the Beltway pundits would have you believe as conservatives that you have a higher obligation to your fellow man while standing in for millions of others "to get your vote right", that if you fail to exercise discretion, prudence and common sense the political fallout, psychological turmoil and incipient violence resulting from your vote taken in non-Christian selfishness will be on your hands alone because you had the opportunity to use sound judgment but opted instead to vote for someone who actually reflected your world view and advanced political positions that you subscribe to and want to see implemented and the vote also reflected what was in your enlightened self-interest to do but is the antithesis of what your fellow citizens wanted or expected you to do. By voting for Sarah Palin you flew in the face of reality. Shame on you.

Of course the millions of Leftists who vote in Democratic primaries, their votes are not subject to the same scrutiny or reviled from afar, besides they or their ancestors are or were victims of white oppression or exploitation so they get a free pass and remain free to follow their heart.

So like a person at a shareholder's meeting voting "proxy shares" you are supposed to act as a PROXY VOTER for a variety of interests: moderates, minorities, government workers/teachers, the rest of society, the rest of the world, you bear a burden to not to vote based on whether you "like" or "favor" Sarah Palin or not but you need to consider the consequences of your vote and the impact it will have on history and not allow your emotions to run away from you, so that you act impulsively out of your own self-interest or your own pursuit of happiness or irrationally just because you are angry at President Obama.

So when you cast your vote for one of the "empty suits" like Romney, Daniels, Gingrich, Huntsman, Pawlenty, or Barbour in the GOP primaries rather than Sarah Palin take consolation that you did a good turn for the benefit of society and the welfare of the nation.

And the MSM and the Beltway pundits will praise you to the hilt after the male nominee is selected for being so magnanimous by voting against your own long-standing principles, deep-seated beliefs and your own rock-ribbed convictions. You deserve your own special place in heaven.

Instead you wake up after the nomination has been secured and you feel ashamed of what you have done alas it now too late; until the day you die you will be haunted by your choice, living your own private hell for spitting in the face of a Reagan conservative who was more than worthy to receive your vote.

And in the bars all over America after the general election, Leftist secular journalists will be out partying all night celebrating Obama's second term in festive cheer and with the lavish outpouring of alcohol the one phrase that will dominate every inebriated conversation is:

THERE'S A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE.

I seem to recall the NYTimes and the whole corrupt MSM being absolutely enthralled with the maverick, John McCain. Once nominated, they slit his throat with ease.

By the time the 2012 primaries roll around this whole strategy will be moot. By then the price of gasoline will be around 8 dollars a gallon and she will be the only Republican with the 'nads to call for drilling for our own oil.

The rest of the clowns will be calling for expanding windmills and solar panels and hamster wheels.

He went willingly like a lamb to the slaughter.

“America has noting to fear from an 0bama Presidency” (or some such)????

Gotta quiet down that “Palling around with Terrorists” talk Palin!!! Shut it down!! No ‘Going Rogue’ on the supposed “Maverick”’s campaign.

How did the GOP expect a man, raised to prominence by our ideological foes for his propensity to say critical things of Republicans and stake out a “middle ground” that is (as my tagline says) negotiating the terms of our surrender to socialism, to suddenly become an Executive ideological leader that would inspire confidence and enthusiasm of the voters?

Haley Barbour, empty suit?

It's logic like yours that gave us Senators O'Donnell and Angle, oh wait.

So if I choose to vote for someone besides Sarah Palin in the primaries then I am just a sucker of the MSM?

I’m not sure how that assertion is much different from the claim that if I do not vote for Obama then I am a right-wing wacko racist.

Thanks, but no thanks. I will make up my own mind while I am still allowed to before the ideological purists on the left or the right take away that prerogative.

From the post it’s difficult to tell whether techno is male or female but I’m betting “male” due to the extreme dearth of periods resulting in some of the longest sentences I’ve ever seen on FR.

Nevertheless, the point - however difficult to find - is good.

Your introductory ‘statement’ was a single sentence composed of 213 words.

Normally, I ain’t the grammar ‘n style police type, but after limping home from that mad-cap excursion in runaway run-on sentencing, I nearly bailed out without finding out what your actual thesis was intended to convey.

Please, get a smaller shovel. Invest in a copy of Strunk & White ( it’s essentially ‘free’ online, now ). Whatever message you’re so concerned about deserves an audience but that may not happen if you persist in such an oppressive ‘style’.

BTW: I DO appreciate your point about the proxy voting scam laid on us by the old guards. I just felt abused having to work so hard to dig it out of the volume of text you buried it in. You wouldn’t happen to be related to Howard Cosell, by any chance ?

So what do you think it means when the whole corrupt media constantly lies about Palin hoping to damage her electability?

No, it’s ‘logic’ (and a waste of millions of dollars) like yours that gave us Governor Whitman...oh, wait, indeed.

The establishment’s record in the last election was far worse than the Tea Parties, but you wouldn’t know it listening to the mainstream media and elites constant drumbeat about a couple of losers... who became victims of their self fulfilling prophecy.

It’s sad to see we have some sheep on here who can’t differentiate between reality and propaganda....but there you are.

So if I choose to vote for someone besides Sarah Palin in the primaries then I am just a sucker of the MSM?

I'm not the author, but my answer would be "no", if you made that decision based on your own research and preference of the candidates, and not because any of the strawman arguments posed by the MSM, such as "she can't win", "she's too polarizing", "dumb", "quitter", etc.

It's a totally different matter if you simply believe that X is objectively a better choice for the job.

There’s a sucker born every minute…and most of them are supporting other candidates. They love Palin, agree with her, would vote for her, but they want to avoid the ugliness that will come into the campaign if she gets in and if she wins the nomination. I think the sooner they realize this campaign is going to get ugly regardless of who gets the nomination, the better off they’ll be.
