Fresh off its apparent victory to put the "Christmas" back into Dick's, the not at all crazy people at the American Family Association have re-focused their laser beams on JPMorgan Chase. Not because it's a big bank who was recently sued for its alleged part in the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme, but because they don't want Christmas trees in the lobby.

I am sure the Christianophobes and the Anti-Whitey KKK over at the Southern Poverty Law Center will be upset with the latest AFA action...which would be good for everyone else. Go get ‘em, AFA

Good to see the AFA going after Chase on their Christmas-Hating.

We need an information network of businesses, corporations, banking and financial institutions that have our country and WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE’s interests and values in mind. We, the people need to band together and create our own network that shuts these criinals down and buries them. Let them do business with the failing EU, the chicoms Venezuela, the middles east and the rest of these ani American bastards who would love to see us dead and gone.

Well they also are for Sharia financing, they supported and donated to obama and acorn so there’s plenty of reasons to go after that bank.

All because “someone” complained. I wish they would name these “someones”, we can then ask the what the hell their problem is, and how can a tree “offend” them?

What does a pagan symbol like a tree, have to do with Christianity?

Hocked this off the first thread.

Chase orders Southlake bank to remove Christmas tree (because it could offend people)

JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association has been FDIC insured since January 1, 1934.
It was established on January 1, 1824.

Of course, don’t expect to find any of the top execs there. The Holding Company is in NYC.

I have to say the more I read these stories, the more I think something good may come out of it. Christmas is moving toward no longer being a public holiday. That’s not such a bad thing. Maybe I’m just getting old, self-righteous and stuffy, but I’d be very happy if people stopped spending every cent they had and maxing out their credit cards on Christmas, and if a lot of the secular symbols went away. Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Through out history, it at times has been emphasized and de-emphasized. In fact, Libs built it up because those nasty old Capitalists used to make their workers work on Christmas day well into the early 1800s.

“What does a pagan symbol like a tree, have to do with Christianity?”

As Christianity spread, it incorporated regional customs into the Christian culture and developed new symbolism for he old pagan festivities that occurred around the Christian ones. The Christmas tree has been an accepted and cherished Christian cultural decoration for well over a thousand years. No Christian has to have one but the kids young and old like it.

I recommend you just say no to doing business with companies that wont use the word “Christmas”. That’s what I do.

Scrooge comes to mind with that reminder.

I make a lot of my gifts for my grands, the parents have asked us not to buy them gifts. What few gifts I do buy are usually needed/wanted clothes.

We made pocket prayer quilts in Sunday School today, quite an experience trying to teach 8 year old’s how to slip stitch around a 3 in square, attach a button, and a ribbon with a small prayer card on it.

I don't mean to turn this into a Catholic v. Protestant thread, but the celebratory aspect of Christmas and the co-opting of pagan customs is a Catholic tradition. One of which Protestants rebelled against (remember that Cromwell outlawed Christmas). That's not to say that both don't understand its Christian purpose and also enjoy celebrating with family, but speaking for myself, I wouldn't think it was a tragedy if these aspects of Christmas went away. Especially the shop til you drop and build up a mountain of debt aspect of it.

Musilms and atheist are the 2 usual groups. The first wants no religion but theirs, the second wants NO religion at all.

They don’t care about offending the 85% of us that STILL WANT the FREEDOM to worship CHRIST.

I have made it my policy this CHRIST-mas to not shop any store that does not promote CHRIST-mas.

I can see a clerk not wishing a person in muslim garb or wearing Sikhs turbin, or a Yamaka—Merry Christmas BUT when a person is wearing a Cross, and CHRIST is Christmas T shirt it is plain who and what they are.

BTW the malls are crawling with muslim women snatching up the same bargains Christians are. A lot of the kisoks are manned by them as they are buying up our malls.

So this is a phony ploy on their part.

Well if the tree is a Pagan symbol and not related to Christmas then why would anyone be offended by it?

Yep, Christians used to complain about Christmas being too commercialized, now they get in a twist because it’s not commercialized enough.....
