Michelle Obama Makes Best-Dressed List

It has finally spilled over into being just too much for me to not say something. For the past two years I have been keenly aware of the poor taste of Barack and Michelle Obama. I have seen and read how both of them have diminished the office of President of the United States. I have seen how Obama has gone around the world bowing and scraping before despots, needlessly apologizing for our great nation, and it has not escaped my notice that they have taken it upon themselves to lavishly spend our money on their outrageously exorbitant and almost weekly vacations.

How has Mrs. Obama diminished the office of the President? By diminishing the position of First Lady. This is a difficult thing to say without seeming petty, but I’ll say it anyway. The First Lady’s position is not your run-of-the-mill place in our country. It is a place of honor, and there is a level of dignity that the office itself demands of the woman inhabiting it, and I believe Mrs. Obama has deliberately tossed that dignity aside. Like her husband, she seems to enjoy flaunting her disrespect for the very position she has acquired.

Here’s the headline from the Politico that did it for me: “FLOTUS Makes Best-Dressed List.” What?! Okay. I realize this is completely predictable, coming from the still-fawning leftist media world, but that doesn’t make it any less jaw-dropping. This so-called best-dressed list is published by Vogue magazine, and I will add that the top 10 nominees include the grotesque and disgusting Lady Gaga (Lady? I don’t think so) and various other women of whom I’ve never heard. I’m not sure what Vogue uses as criteria to deem someone to be best-dressed, but from the looks of the photographs of the top ten, the standards are not too high. Perhaps that would explain the inclusion of Mrs. Obama.

It could only be some parallel universe or counter-culture in which Mrs. Obama could be considered best-dressed, because in our country it just isn’t so, not matter what all the leftist sycophants proclaim! I’ve seen a number of photographs of her, and I always marvel at the bizarre “styles” she wears. There is no doubt that her clothes are expensive, but high price does not necessarily mean high fashion or good taste.

Although the commenters who posted on the Politico story tended to make jokes about her choice of clothing, I don’t think it’s funny. This is what I mean about her disrespecting the office of the President by treating her own position shabbily. By choosing to wear outlandish, tacky and inappropriate clothing, she is insulting her place in the White House. Yes, you could easily argue that this is a trivial subject to address with all that’s going on in the world, but this is just part of the whole narcissistic picture of the Obamas. Neither of them seems to care a whit what it means to inhabit the White House. She certainly doesn’t maintain the dignified image of grace that we’ve taken for granted in former First Ladies.

Amie Parnes, writing for the Politico quoted Vogue’s editor-at-large, Andre Leon Talley, who fell all over himself denying the ugly reality of Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe as he said,

“Style is not an afterthought to this wife and mother committed to national service; whether she is frolicking on the White House lawn in Converse or at an awards dinner in Michael Kors scarlet chiffon, she always looks elegant and appropriate to the occasion and to our modern times."

[Mrs.] Obama, Tally says, "has made an interest in and love of fashion - having fun with it, the way it can make one feel good about oneself - accessible to all. But beyond her wardrobe, it is her confidence, sense of purpose and grace she wears best of all."

Perhaps I should’ve issued a barf alert before that. So, in a nutshell, he’s saying don’t expect conventionality from Mrs. Obama, because she is a “modern” First Lady. Forget all those fuddy-duddy First Ladies of the past with their traditional, dignified and respectful appearance! Mrs. Obama is all about having fun and feeling good about herself as she sets a new tone for a First Lady in the White House, and ain’t it grand?! In reality, all those strange outfits and all those wide chest belts are grand in price only, and I for one don’t like this new tacky tone at all and can’t wait until those two are evicted from the White House.

The comments below the article on the Politico were pretty brutal to Mrs. Obama. One commenter, “Batly,” had this to say,

If Michelle is so fashionable, why don't we see other women copying her "look"? The too tight, too small, too young sweater sets with the wide belts, the mismatched colors and prints and the totally inappropriate styles, such as the vibrantly reddish-orange sleeveless number with the blue kitten heels and chandelier earrings she wore to a medal of honor ceremony, or the PTA mom, wide-load-looking skirt and blouse she wore to meet Spain's royalty. Keep it up, progressive media, you are succeeding in making these two more ridiculed and disrespected faster than their ill-conceived, failing policies would have [done] alone.”

And, that was one of the nicer comments.

Inappropriate is a good description of Michelle Obama’s wardrobe, and that may be the gist of what bothers many of us. It may be perfectly fine to dress the way she does in certain places and among certain people who appreciate those kinds of styles, but it’s all wrong for the place of First Lady of the United States of America—all wrong. And, all the proclamations of what a well-dressed woman she is by her fawning flunkies in the media will not make it a reality.

Post that picture of her and Obie at the table where she's wearing an orange gold shirt.

Add the picture of the dog taking her for a walk...the one where she is in shorts and her bra strap is hanging out.

Yesiree!! She's all about Best Dressed!!

When Michelle O is contrasted with, say, the restrained but elegant style of Jackie Kennedy or the natural grace of Laura Bush, the differences are striking.

But, hey. Her husband was awarded a Nobel Prize for nothing.

Apparently, actual performance, competence, and elegance mean nothing anymore. Just grab what you can, for as long as you can, until you’re finally found out.

...and don't forget the picture of her backside straining the material of her slacks so that her underwear lines show. Yes, certainly, "best dressed".

She’s about “Best Dressed” as Pelosi is Times “Person of the Year” . . . er . . . I’ll bet Pelosi will be picked. Any bets.

Incredible that someone with such horrible appearance and awful choice of clothes would be picked for that. The woman is a walking (waddling) train wreck.

It's either affirmative action or ex officio. Next they'll be giving her a Nobel Prize.

I've seen blind who dress themselves and are better turned out than Michelle. Floyd Mayweather and Butterbean manage the wide belt look much better.

Hmm, I’ve seen that picture many times but this is the first I’ve noticed Barry has that swept up back leg of a teenage girl being kissed - very feminine....
