Apparently no aspect of Western culture is impervious to the in-your-face tastelessness of the homosexual movement. Imagine dragging yourself through the grim task of selecting a casket for a lost loved one and being confronted with this:

Funeral directors in Germany are bidding for the pink pound by launching coffins specially designed for gay customers.
The caskets feature homoerotic artwork on the outside and come with a series of tastefully luxurious plush designer interiors, say makers Mike Konigsfeld and Tom Brandl in Cologne, Germany.
The designers who have lived together for more than 10 years say the images of muscular young men in classical poses are the perfect way to send off a loved one.
They're sure to find a market. Due to the extreme unhealthiness of the homosexual lifestyle, its proponents are more likely to die before they've had a chance to discover decorum.
That will give archaeologists something to chuckle over in 1,000 years.
Whew! For a minute I thought the Prius was being declared unsafe to drive!
Discount for friends of the deceased who were infected by him with AIDS?
Maybe not... 'Don't open that one George, no telling what they died of...'

Those look FABULOUS!
that’s gay...
You damn near owe me a keyboard!
Do these coffins come with the option of being buried face down, so that the dearly departed can show their best side?
I think the high-end one comes with an eternal flaming...
Who cares? It doesn’t bother anyone else. If that’s what they want fine? We choose what we want too? No big deal over this...it’s their money paying so why is it even a story???
Just bury them as they went through life....with their butt in the air.
No, no, you miss the point. This is a gay-bashing thread. The coffin topic is secondary. Logic like yours doesn't apply. :)
And of course the deceased will be buried face down.
Granted, most of the comments really are pretty funny. :)
The mental image has melted my brain into a pile of slag...
Lemme guess, the female homosexual coffins are lined with silk, but the outsides are covered in carpet...
Fancy coffins are a foolish waste of money.
NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT NOT TO BE OFFENDED. PERIOD.
In my Jewish religion, we are buried immediately, in plain pine boxes. No open caskets, just buried immediately. Would I ever opine as to the rituals of others? NEVER. IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS.
not all of us do, trust me :)
And relatives have a place to park their bicycles when they come to visit.
Eternal orgy
Remember the 1990’s? Remember Beavis and Butthead? Remember how they would laugh and giggle uncontrollably?
hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe?
Yea, I am doing that right now!
Right on.
In a free and open market, if there is a demand for a product, someone will figure out how to supply it. Clearly, there are enough gay men who would like this sort of thing, that it is a worthwhile market to address.
Humorous (and other) comments aside, you're on the mark. The gay-decorated coffins are certainly not my cup of tea; I'm all for the pine box or maybe cremation, depending on what takes me out one of these days. I'd like to keep it simple and cheap.
But they have every right to do this, and as freedom-loving, free-market folks, we should support their right to do so. Even if it strikes us as... very different.
“Homosexual Coffins”?? I didn’t realize coffins could even engage in heterosexual sex, much less homosexual sex...

There used to be a phrase “noisy as two skeletons makinging love on a tin roof”, but caskets would be even worse.
LOL! That's great, never heard that one before.
Coming soon at a theater near you: “Night of the Swishing Dead.”
“That will give archaeologists something to chuckle over in 1,000 years.
Maybe not... ‘Don’t open that one George, no telling what they died of...’”
You are more dead on that you realize. The “curse of King Tut” was actually a bacteria or virus that was sealed in the tomb for all those centuries. So in reality you never know. AIDS breaks down the immune system but allows other bacteria and viruses to come in the body and invade and kill the person. So yes, they could feel “the curse” so to speak.

Sadly I have to agree with you about simple and cheap. This is only because a burning longship, or Scythian or Beowulf style kugan with horses, weapons and armor would be painfully expensive and probably violate some damn EPA regulation.
Things just aren’t what they used to be.
I am going to be honest about what this article is really about. It is not about being “offended” while shopping for coffins for loved ones. If I saw it while shopping, I would either laugh my a$$ off or barf on the coffin. Truth be told.
As for my cup of tea, no it is not. Not for me for my family.
What this article is about is that there is a very large industry of these coffins. Why is that? Oh gee, I think we learned that one back in the 1970’s with “Gay Cancer”. It is now called AIDS. Even with the drugs out there for AIDS, most gay men only live to about age 40 or so. This article is telling us the gay men are not living long and that “gay coffins” are in big demand. This is not good news for the gay community. This means their deathstyle is bringing their numbers lower. They are planning their funeral, when just a year ago they were planning their “gay wedding”.
Speaking of burning longships...
Years ago, my sister-in-law had a pet white rat that eventually kicked off, and she wanted to give it a flaming cremation send-off on a vessel in my backyard creek. She put the rat on a small wooden raft, surrounded by crumpled paper.
I took one look and said, "I think you're only going to succeed in singeing its fur -- why don't you test it with a section of hotdog first, to see if you've got enough fire, because I don't think you do."
Sure enough. So she added more paper. I said, "Soak the rat in lighter fluid or gas or something." But no, that would be disrespectful.
So the rat went down the creek, singed fur and all.
Today the EPA would have a cow over that, I'm sure...
A touching sentiment but half baked on execution.
I suppose that if they’re going off to hell, they might as well go with style.
But I could see only only Liberace thinking that was stylish, besides the two morons who created it.
This is definitely not a ping......
Understood...
What spreads AIDS, more than anything else, is promiscuity (multiple partners in rapid succession) and not checking partners' HIV status. Those dangerous behaviors are not exclusive to the gay community, but they are rampant in that community, hence the association.
There are additional dangers that -are- specific to the gay lifestyle, rectal damage issues and so forth, but they aren't directly AIDS related.
There's no question that gay men die young in droves. My take on this article is that it's saying "A lot of gay men have more money than taste". But we already knew that...
* GROAN * :)
Well, yes. No one here is defending the homosexual lifestyle. We're just saying, it's none of our business what a dead person chooses to be buried in, as long as it's legal in their state.
How does saying that a free individual in a free country has the right to pick the box they're buried in, even if it is gaudy or decadent or tasteless or whatever, a violation of the rules of this forum, which appears to be what you're implying by your comment?
Not arguing. Just curious about your point.
Yes you were defending it. You wre condoning it. And you should know better than throw your support to Hildy.
You are one step away from allowing and accepting the deviancy of homosexualism in our culture from being FORCED to accept it. And in fact we are - under the special rights and laws afforded to gays - we are required to accept gays in the military and even subject our little children to the queer agenda taught by queers in the classroom and supported by Teachers Unions and even fisting czars in the Obama regime.
No. It’s time to put an end to the “Not my business what they do” BS. Especially here at FR, which is a CONSERVATIVE site.
(See my tagline)
And lately Jim has been zotting liberal trolls on his forum left and right. Trolls who subversively make pro-gay or pro-abortion statement much like you just did.
So, that’s my point.
Same with me and personally, I think a plain, pine box is just fine. Simplicity and not the cost of all those we see today. I would like a plain pine box. As you said...Freedom at its best.
Actually I’m not offended by anything anyone else does like this. It is THEIR CHOICE. If I don’t happen to like it it’s tough cause I’m not paying for it nor do I want it and as you said “It is NONE of my business.”
I expect others to do the same thing...if more people minded their own business there would be less “White Noise” in this world.

Still don’t care.
Still don’t care.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Gives a whole new meaning to burying a stiff.
In case their friends want to drop by for a cold one?
I was speaking of coffin design and selection, not homosexual activity.
I don't believe any of my comments could be taken as "condoning" homosexual behavior, since I didn't address that, other than to comment that includes obviously dangerous and foolhardy activities. That's hardly "condoning" it, or making what you termed "subversive" statements; I was saying it was stupid.
Nowhere did I say "it's not my business what they do" with regard to their homosexuality. I said only that it was not my business what coffin they choose to be buried in. Please note the difference; I'm sorry again if that was insufficiently clear.
You are welcome to check my FR profile page if you have any doubts as to my beliefs. I wrote that page, and every word is true.
As for Hildy, I do not know them or their posting history, and I happened to agree with their one comment on this thread (#20) which was strictly about coffins and burial rituals. If Hildy, who has been on this forum a lot longer than you or I, is considered a subversive, okay, but that's not my problem to address.
Again, my apologies if I was unclear about the subject of my comments.
Where and what are homosexual burial rituals? Many here who feel strongly about this will no doubt see this as another open door for the nasty business of normalizing homosexuality and the inevitable accusations of Religious intolerance and "hate crimes" when any church synagogue etc fails to honor the wishes to further glorfiy the lifestlyle with a religious ceremony.
