“What I have been trying to say is that when I say that I believe the LDS Articles of Faith and post them (the Articles), I really do not think it is kosher for the anti Mormons to turn around and post THEIR own version of the Articles of Faith to suit their agenda, to hell with fairness and decency.”
That is simply your opinion. You are entitled to believe it, but that doesn’t make it true...
Is it “fair and decent” to take Christian words and redefine them and then claim you are following a Christian religion? Hmmm?
“I used to enjoy expressing myself freely on FR on any subject but when it comes to my faith, all hell breaks loose.”
I see your point. It would be much better if only you were able to exercise freedom of speech...
You're not going to get it from Beck:

Sorry I’m getting truth from Glenn Beck and it drives the left mad.
Much of what Beck presents is true. But its mix of conspiracy, paranoia, and religious re-writing has made it all subject to extra scrutiny.
Every thing that is found on the web should be scrutinized.
I would like those who say that Beck is not spreading the truth to show me what and where the untruth is. I don’t agree with every thing Beck says but if we agreed 100% one of us would not be thinking.
“moromons believe Heavenly Father used to be Adam”
Wow, you guys haven’t brought out that canard in some time. Of course it’s been debunked here on numerous occasions, but that doesn’t stop you folks from misrepresenting does it? I don’t know one Mormon who believes that Heavenly Father used to be Adam. You claim to have friends that are LDS. Do you know one that believes that Heavenly Father used to be Adam? No? Hmmmm.
I find it quite amusing when the cabal asks for examples of when they’ve misrepresented what members believe. It’s a daily amusement. Lying for the Lord again? Do you really feel He condones that? Strange line of thinking.
Reno,
I have heard mormons say Heavenly Father used to be Adam.
You say no. So, why don’t you tell us what YOU believe now and set us straight...
=>> Do you believe the Father used to be a man Reno?
Instead of mindreading, just tell us.
best,
ampu
What you said in your post...was not true. And you know it.
Ah the deception. So you claim that you’ve heard Mormons say that Heavenly Father used to be Adam & that would equate to what we believe. First of all, I don’t believe you, unless of course you heard that from one of you cohorts that is an ex. I’ve been around thousands of LDS, & never once, not once, has that been taught & considered doctrine. Never.
BTW, I’ve heard what Fred Phelps has to say about doctrine. He’s a “Christian”, therefore, you must believe it too, right?
You seem & claim to be well researched. If that is the case, then you now the absurdity of your claim. Did you feel you wouldn’t be caught? LDS DO NOT believe Heavenly Father used to be Adam. Do you really believe Father approves of the lying, even if you feel your cause is just?
Long ago, we used to able to have intellectual debates w/ you folks. That’s no longer the case as you folks have increasingly resorted to these kinds of tactics. A shame really. Have fun explaining this one to the Lord. Have a great week none the less.
These is not done on some post. When I pointed those post out the RM said oh no those weren't brought forward when they clearly were.
One poster brings a old posting forward that has links in it that no longer exist. If I was to do that my posting would be removed as I have shown by example.
I don't mind the abuse but allow me to give some also.
Please provide the urls and post numbers so I can investigate your complaint.
Brigham Young proclaimed: "Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner! When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize this world. He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days, about whom holy men have written and spoken---He is our father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p.50-51, a sermon given on April 9, 1852).
"How much unbelief exists in the minds of the Latter-day Saints in regard to one particular doctrine which I have revealed to them, and which God revealed to me...namely that Adam is our Father and God...Our Father Adam is the man who stands at the gate and holds the keys to everlasting life and salvation to all his children who have or ever will come upon the earth" (Brigham Young, Deseret News, June 18, 1873).
F.D. Richards, a prominent Mormon confirms this was doctrine: "Concerning the doctrine that Adam is our Father and God...the prophet and Apostle Brigham has declared it, and that is the word of the Lord" (Millenial Star, August 26, 1854, vol.16, p.534).
Hosea Stout confirms this: "Another meeting this evening. President B. Young taught that Adam was the Father of Jesus and the Only God to us" (Diary of Hosea Stout, April 9, 1852, vol. 2, p.435).
Other leaders taught it, including George Q. Cannon: "Jesus Christ is Jehovah...Adam is his Father and our God" (Diary of Abraham H. Cannon, June 23, 1889, vol.11, p.39)
Mormon A.F. McDonald commented: "The doctrine preached by [President] Young for a few years back wherein he says that Adam is our God---the God we worship--- most of the people believe it...if the President makes a statement it is not our prerogative to dispute it...when I first heard the doctrine of Adam being our Father and God, I was favorably impressed---enjoyed and hailed it as a new Revelation" (Minutes of the School of Prophets, Provo, UT, 1868-1871, p.38-39).
Mormon Edward W. Tullidge wrote: "Adam is our Father and God. He is the God of the Earth. So says Brigham Young" and "When Brigham Young proclaimed to the nations that Adam was our Father and God, and Eve, his partner, the Mother of a world---both in a mortal and celestial sense---he made the most important revelation ever oracled to the race since the days of Adam himself" (The Women of Mormondom, p.79,179,196-197, 1877).
Of course....later mormons said that ol' Young was misquoted, and he never said it. Pretty much running away from the prophet...and picking and choosing what their prophet said.
The Bible states Adam was only a created being, the first man. Period. Apparently B. Young thought and spoke otherwise.....and plenty of fellow mormon's thought he was right
Christians will recognize most of Brigham Young's statements about Adam to be complete blasphemy. And mormon's continue to attempt to backtrack and whitewash the past.
You guy's can't run away from this..it's documented. It's written. It's fact.
Answer the question Reno. Tell us what you believe instead of whining.
By the way- I don’t remember you ever participating in any intellectual debates Reno. I do see lots of posting and running...
I can’t wait to hear them say bring’em young didn’t speak for Mormons...
I was wondering which of you would bring up this old canard as well. We have discussed this ad naseum before haven’t we Osage? I won’t spend the time here repeating the same argument that’s been given several times here other than to direct the lurker to: http://en.fairmormon.org/Adam-God for a brief explanation of the quote.
The FACT is that this doctrine was never preached before the B.Y. quote, nor after. It never was LDS doctrine & certainly isn’t now, your & AMPU’s claim to the contrary not withstanding.
AMPU’s statement was “Mormons believe........”. Of course, that statement is fallacious. Mormons don’t believe that. I believe he knew that, or at least should have. Period.
It is the M.O. of the cabal, so we’ve come to expect it. Distortions, misrepresentations, etc....... A shame really
I believe I was quite clear. Father didn’t used to be Adam. Whining? LOL
Do you not understand that folks can go back & check posting histories? How deep are you gong to dig yourself?
I do recall on a number of occasions when you were backed in a corner, you would refuse to answer questions on the basis that we weren’t ready for the answer. Talk about running away! You’re a hoot in the hypocrisy dept.
