Jeff, It’s great to know you have this covered. Prayers continue of course. My best to your lovely Mrs.
A hospital like MD Anderson would also have social workers assigned to each patient who would look into the options available to Jeff and his family. When my son was at Johns Hopkins and needed air transport to UVA, the Hopkins staff took care of ALL the arrangements.
The plane rental decision was made, IIRC, because it was less costly than taking an ambulance the same distance. There was a specially trained nurse on board.
Have you made the trip home yet? I've not been here too much of late and haven't seen anything posted...
You and Gail remain in my prayers...
In rehab still in hospital. Will be released probably the week of the 4th.
Slow and painful rehab learning to walk again and dealing with the impact on my bowels and bladder. But slow steady progress.
After release we plan three weeks here in Houston of out patient rehab, then back home to Idaho for several more months of the same.
Thank you and God bless you for asking. It’s been a very long and difficult road.
Like I said last week, you're a living miracle, Jeff. No other way to describe it. And your story is a living inspiration to all of us. Hang in there and keep us posted!

I was released on Thursday, July 1st and am now in our apartment with Gail.
We had our eval appointment at TIRR Rehab the next day which is where MD Anderson referred me and which is one of the top 4 rehab places in the country.
It’s hard...I am anxious to get strength back in my legs so I can put away the walker and stand up and walk as long as I want. Rignt now I am just too weak and have to build strength in my legs, particulalry my hips which deteriorated so much with 10 weeks in bed.
But, with God and His Son’s help, my dear beloved Savior, with the love and continued angelic help of me wounderful wife, Gail, and with the faith and prayers of hundreds, maybe thousands like you dixie, John, Dolly, amom, Laz and so many others...I know I can make it.

Still have a long road in front of me. Months of rehab trying to learn to walk again among other things. Mississippi Man came over and visited me today. It was a good time. He got to see me with my walker and my 60 lb lighter frame.
I do not suggest the diet, lol!
Whatever kind of man I am I owe to a loving God and Savior, great parents who raised me to love God and America...and why, second only to god in Heaven my loving wife of 32 years, five great kids who taught me more than I did them, six wonderful grandkids...and a whole lot of great friends...like yourself.
Heck...you’re posting in very fine fashion on your blog! I now know that you are going to be just fine!

It will take a lot of work on your part, but you are such a strong man that you will be back...and you will be whole again.
