There is a saying in police work and in military service that certain very noxious, offensive substances always roll downhill. That is to say, foul-ups instigated by bad policy will always be blamed on the lowest possible links in the chain of command. Such is the case now in Afghanistan.
Diana West writes extensively about U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystals (pictured above with CIC Obama) hearts and minds Afghanistan counter-insurgency campaign: Sacrificing American lives by denying artillery and air support to our ground troops pinned down under heavy enemy fire is acceptable, because artillery and bombs may cause collateral damage to Afghanistan civilians. Terrible as it is to contemplate the idea, it is the Obama-McChrystal policy. This cannot help troop morale in the ranks and files. And its not going to bring an end to this Islamic-doctrinally driven war.Its time to get out of Afghanistan.
Theres a story in todays Washington Post announcing increased disciplinary actions against U.S. field commanders decisions...

Where are the patriots to stand up for our troops? Under this POS, GET THEM THE F OUT!
This is OBAMA’S butcher bill.He should be flogged for it but the press isn’t doinng a thing.Looks like patriots will have to do it for them.
Bingo and agreed.
In a sane universe, I could see mass resignations among front line officers.
The causes of all the needless American deaths are the Rules of Engagement, political military coward officers who have betrayed their oath, a desk warrior general focused on his retirement instead of on the safety of his men, and a treasonous incompetent Commander-in Chief.
"This idea that we're going to go in and bring democracy to these tribal cultures isn't going to work. If we have a problem with terrorist countries, like Iran, it's a lot cheaper to go in and hit them and get back out."
In other words, don't give up the battle; just give up the nation-building. "It's up to somebody else to build nations," the general said. "Not us."
He went on: That old myth that (Colin) Powell had -- if you break it you own it -- that's a myth. You break it, you decide whether you own it. You don't have to go in and own it."
And especially not when it is Islamic land that doesn't belong in the West.
Absolutely agree.
Thank you TADSLOS, for the Vallely memo. He is dead on the mark.
Best,

Next some dweeb in Obama’s entourage will be monitoring ops from a Predator and directing the troops movement on the ground. - The left is determined to make Afghanistan into Vietnam. BTW Obama has an entourage, not advisors or a cabinet.
