The POTUS is threatening to cut off AID to Israel. This is precisely what Jewish supporters of Obama said would never happen, people like Marty Peretz of the New Republic and former NY Mayor Ed Koch who first suspected Obama, then endorsed him and now after his election bash him once again.
Then there were the ones who I call "shhhhh Jews." In other words, "shhhhh we don't want to upset the non-Jews!" . During the campaign, when I would point out Obama's anti-Israel history, they would say, "shhhhhhhhh what if he wins?" "If Obama wins," I tell them, "then it is TOO late. If Barack Obama becomes president of the United States, it will be a major disaster for American Jews, Israel and the United States of America."
Well folks, it looks as if 2010 will be the year of "now its too late" for Americans who support Israel. Last week Obama's Middle East Czar, George Mitchell appeared on the Charlie Rose show, and suggested that Israel could lose loan guarantees if she doesn't begin to meet Obama's version of cooperative.

What happens when the Israelis decide that Obama is a threat to their national security?
He has promised Jerusalem to the Arabs. 1st thing he did, remember, was call Abbas.
While Israel has always been judicious about US aid, carefully paying back loans on schedule, for years the loans have been seen all around as problematic.
They sustain the bizarre Arab idea that without those loans, Israel would quickly wither and die, which makes America the bad guy in their minds. While at the same time they give nutcases in the US all sorts of fodder, and ignorant American politicians the idea that they have leverage over Israeli policy.
And from the Israelis point of view I have no idea of what advantage they think those loans bestow. Since a lot of those loans go right back to buying products America makes, including some weapons.
In other words, it is like paying for something on the installment plan when you can easily afford to pay for it in cash. The only reason a person would do that would be to improve their credit rating.
So put it all together, and what does it add up to? A financial contrivance. But an outdated financial contrivance. So if there is an advantage to these loans, what is needed is a new contrivance.
That is not difficult to arrange, and happens mostly on paper, but would have whatever advantages the current loans do, but would take away the bad assumptions all the way around.
The Arab world would have to come up with some other flimsy rationalization why Israel can whump them up one side and down the other at will. The American politicians would no longer think that they can tell Israel what to do in exchange for a pittance. And American suppliers and arms merchants would still know that their stuff is being bought by Israel.
Last but not least, the kooks would easily replace their current conspiracy theories overlaying their antisemitism with different ones.
