All 40 Senate Republicans will filibuster ObamaCare at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday
Patriot Room ^ | November 19, 2009 | Bill Dupray

We need to peel off one Democrat to kill this thing.

For those of you glued to your laptops when the abortion known as PelosiCare was passed a couple of weeks ago, this Saturday's fight in the Senate will consist of 10 hours of debate, which were won by Republicans in return for their not having the entire bill read on the floor.

According to Roll Call (subscription required, but the snippet is there), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) will join the other 39 Republicans in the filibuster.

The first vote is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., so, if my math is correct, the debate begins at 10:00 a.m. In any event, the debate will be all day, and this is crunch time.

Plain and simple: If you value your freedom, now is the time to melt the phone lines in your Senators' offices.

As Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) notes at RedState, a vote by Democrats to proceed to a debate is a vote on the substance of the bill.

Where did you get that Nelson of FL likes this bill? It cuts 500 billion from Medicare—that’s out of the hide of his constituents. The seniors are up in arms about this—and last I heard they’re letting him know. In fact, Graham of SC mentioned Nelson of FL as opposing the bill—he did so in an interview with Greta von Sustern just days ago.

I see where you’re coming from. I watched the video. Yeah, it looks like he’s on board.

As for Nelson, well, I just pulled the video from his own website that’s on YouTube. Perhaps things have changed and he has changes his mind. I haven’t given up hope.

I still wrote him. As an MD. Not that anyone in the imperial palaces in DC is even listening to us. *sigh*

It’s true the health care bill doesn’t really kick in until 2013—but the taxes kick in right away. You think the public won’t react negatively to that? It’s already furious over TARP, over the bailouts, over the takeover of the banks—without anything being done to rescue the little guy who’s drowning in upside-down mortgages and taxes and credit card debt. Sure the public will stay mad. They’re watching the whole country become California.

Nelson had stated he doesn’t like the cuts in Medicare and wants that changed. But it’s a major part of how this thing is going to pay for itself supposedly. There’s no way they’ll cut any of that out. They’ve got enough problems just raising taxes to pay for the rest so they need to keep that in. Nelson is a big maybe.

Come on Fredd,
Your representative is no different than the rest.
They aren’t interested in what you , I, or anyone thinks.
These crooks are only interested in themselves.
Get a torch, let’s storm the capital and burn it to the ground with them all in it.

I heard on WABC radio today that there is a provision on page 432 of this bill just for Landrieu. She gets $100 million towards Medicaid because she lives in a state that has suffered a disaster in the past 7 years, namely Louisiana.

The fence sitters are all getting paid off and Lieberman looked very pleased and conciliatory last night. I wonder what he’s getting?

Another sellout! PUBs “win” 10 hours of meaningless speeches by people who have already made up their “minds” on a bill that none have read or understand.

All they had to do was sell the American people down the river and keep the bill from being read.

More bargains and victories and we’ll be dancing to “Deutchland uber alles.”

Lieberman is lying about his plans to oppose the Bill. I heard on Glenn Beck from DeMint’s interview that Lieberman has not been honest thus far about his intentions toward the health care bill.

The vote is on starting the debate.

So, Lincoln is unlikely to vote against it.

Yes, I know the vote is to start debate :-)

Once debate is allowed reconciliation is a possibility. Therefore, it is better NOT to start debate :-) and so it is well worth the effort to pressure Lincoln and perhaps offer to help her win re-election in 2010. I think it is an acceptable trade-off. If she effectively kills the bill - help her in her re-election bid.

It is better to stop this sooner rather than later :-)

Better to work with Lincoln who seems to be the only dem who *might* vote to stop this BEFORE going to the floor for debate. I would offer to help her win re-election *IF* she votes no on Saturday night.
