From Tun Tavern to Afghanistan, The US Marines are a cut above. "A Few Good Men" is an understatement. Pound for pound, the most dangerous warrior on the planet is a Marine and his Rifle....
For those of us who share this Brotherhood, This is not rhetoric, it is fact. How many men and women in the history of the world are or have been US Marines? Not many.
I celebrate our birthday by thinking of you, my brothers and sisters, and pray you are kept safe.

The Marines first birthday was July of 1834. Only after WWI was their birthday backdated to Tun Tavern, so that they could have two consecutive drunken days (with Armistice Day being the second).

I'm convinced that the reason people become Marines is because of all the fun you can have as a
former Marine. My dad (retired Marine Lt. Col.) and my late brother (Marine Lt.) were utterly miserable while they were in the Corps...having to use lousy, castoff equipment from the Army, petty backbiting, crappy deployments, etc.
However, they have had so much fun with other former Marines, drinking and swapping stories.

I will celebrate my Marine Corps birthday the same old way, on the same old day.
You are welcome to celebrate it when you want, how you want. Welcome to America.
