November 7, 2009 House Jumps One Hurdle
By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN
The House approved the rule governing debate of the big health care legislation by a vote of 242 to 192, suggesting but not guaranteeing that Democrats would have the votes to pass the bill itself later on Saturday.
The House Debate
Fifteen Democrats joined all 177 Republicans in opposition. One Democrat did not vote.
As a result the Democrats seemed to have a comfortable margin, with 24 more yes votes than they need for final passage of the bill.
The speaker pro tempore, Representative John D. Dingell, Democrat of Michigan, announced the tally.
The Democrats currently control 258 of 435 seats in the House, and with 218 votes needed to approve the bill, they can afford to lose 40 of their own caucus members and still win passage.

That does not guarantee they are voting FOR the bill.
Can this be repealed in 2010?
ARM, BABY, ARM!
I fear if it is liberty that we want we will have to be willing to pay the ultimate price!
This will be an act of war.
What an historic disaster. Let’s hope to God there are a handful of Dems in the Senate that will not support political suicide of the Democratic Party, and even more so the loss of American freedom. Apparently, Nancy nor the ‘blue dog’s give a damn.
I think you mean...let us pray to God
I will not purchase health care nor will they take me to jail, alive!
A lot of people are beginning to think this way now.
When someone first said this to me 6-8 months ago, I shuddered at the thought. Now, I am beginning to agree with them.
>> What this means is some Democrats want the stupid thing voted on today, not delayed forever.
Didn’t this vote happen way earlier today? Sometime this morning?
Pelosi may or may not have the votes she needs — but this earlier vote in no way reflects the margin, no matter what the Slimes says.
WE ARE COMING TO GET YA MF’ers!!
If you’re not on the dole now - you won’t benefit from this “reform” either. It’ll be one more thing we’ll be forced to pay for - this one with a jail sentence if we don’t.
There will undoubtedly be a challenge in the courts as to its constitutionality.
TIME FOR A MILLION MAN/WOMAN MARCH TO DC
Still would have to work its way in the senate..if both pass my guess would be just like any other “gift” from the government..it will be forever.
SHARPEN THE PITCHFORKS!
This is an outrage! These so called elected officials are now our kings and queens and they are literally sh##ting on us. They trampled the constitution, spit in our faces and they will do what they damed well please?

What the so-called debate on C-Span.
This is not a debate. It’s just a bunch of muckety-mucks making statements. Let’s see a real debate where members challenge each other openly. This whole thing is a farce!
There had better be!
Only thing, the Kelo Decision keeps coming to mind....
The Day Socialism Was Introduced to the United States.
America’ Reverse Version of Guy Fawkes Day: November 07th 2009. The Day Congress Blew Up The Capitalist System.
If they approve it we will remove the Democrats from control of Congress and repeal it.

Look folks this is how our Dear Reader would do it in Kenya.
I notice that whole lot of Democrats, including our Dear Reader cannot pronounce liberty and freedom.
I think they start taxing us in January if this thing passes the Senate.
SOCIALISM brought to US courtesy of George Soros and MoveOn.Org’s 5 million members and the AARP and AMA!!!!!!
and prosecute these sc##bags to the fullest extent of the law
This is useless without names. I want the names of the blue dogs dems who crossed over. I want them to regret what they have done for the rest of their lives — in or especially out of office. They are nothing but traitors to the United States and “We the people...” pure and simple.
Expansion of government is never repealed, see Margaret Thatcher and “the ratchet effect”.
You raise a very good question. There is absolutely NOTHING in the conventional law (that is, outside of a constitutional amendment), that cannot be repealed by the very next congress.
If the Republicans swept the next election, they could totally gut Obamacare, even if they couldn’t muster 2/3rds of both houses to destroy it. But the question is, would they?
Republicans have accepted every unconstitutional abomination the Democrats have passed for 70 years, without question, as if it was written in stone. They didn’t have to, but they did.
And so far, not ONE Republican has stood up and said that if Obamacare, or Cap ‘n’ Trade, or anything else the Democrats want to pass, is passed, and the Republicans get political power back, they will REPEAL it.
Republicans need to have their feet held to the fire about this.
It is time to really take to the streets and get loud! I can’t see any alternatives now.
No, as the Democrats will control the House and Senate throughout 2010.
And even when the GOP did control the House and Senate from 1995 to 2007 they took no steps what so ever to repeal Medicare and instead only EXPANDED Medicare by more than a TRILLION Dollars.
Our government believes it is “we the little people.” I say NO... it is “WE the people.”
I would really like to see the old tar and feather solution worked with these a$@holes . If that didn’t get their attention, emulate the Bastille and bring on the guillotine .
You’re fooling yourselves, folks. The average American wants this bill to pass. That’s why they voted for Democrats in the first place.
You guys love voting and representative government, right? Well, enjoy the result: mob rule. Any attempt to set up a republic will ALWAYS end this way.
Now do you guys finally see the stupidity of allowing the average idiot a say in running the country?
Not without 2/3 of both houses to override a veto.
Bullshit. Evey one of them will be re-elected.
Wilson’s income tax was supposed to be a “temporary” measure to help pay for WWI, and almost 100 years later we’re not only still paying it, but it’s a huge bureacracy in which the citizen is guilty until proven innocent.
Just like the Birth Certificate, just like Campaign Reform, it won’t matter and they know it.
This very well could be repealed. Once it starts however, it will never and could never be stopped. 2010 will have to be a bloodbath against all Dems and Rinos and anyone who voted for the bill!
Well, then, why don't you go do it instead of writing about it on some meaningless Internet talk board? No one's stopping you, "Renegade". If you think it ought to be done, do it yourself.
Democrats who voted no:
Altmire
Baird
Boren
Bright
Childers
Davis (AL)
Griffith
Kratovil
Marshall
Melancon
Minnick
Sanchez, Loretta
Shuler
Skelton
Taylor
Pelosi must be guaranteeing the pissant “blue dogs” of their re-election via fraud and ballot stuffing to get them to go for this!

And they still have ACORN and the unions to see that it happens.
What is going on here??????????? Do they even have a clue? Do they want a new job?
I hope so, but do you really see that happening? We have become a nation of people holding our hand out waiting for free stuff. God how I long for the days when American was America.
What irks me is they use our tax $$$ to buy votes!
