As newsrooms shrink one little noticed by valuable part of the staff is rapidly disappearing leaving papers with typo strewn copy.
From Editorsweblog.org
Readers who have come to rely on sports journalist Tom Boswell's quality baseball coverage for the Washington Post, might not have been quite so impressed with Monday's offering: His column, covering Sunday's World Series game, was sent to the printers awash with typos, grammatical errors and misspellings; generating a number of complaints.

Meh, replace Boswell with someone competent enough to use language properly, and technically adept enough to use a spell checker.
Problem solved.

Really. Had to have our local paper reprint daughters wedding notice. Full of typos the first run. Like my daughter stated, “Sure would be nice to be able to show our wedding pictures in the newspaper to our kids someday without being embarrassed with the write-up”. They reran it only because they were threatened with us wanting a refund of the $50 it charged to run it in the first place. Crooks

Many of these news editors probably went to public school where they taught the children that there’s no such thing as “bad spelling or grammar”.
Their is such a thing as bad spelling and grammer. I wish somebody would tell them ‘Your wrong’!

Pretty rich irony, that.

They did the same with my Father’s obituary. 10 typos.
I was pissed, and went down to complain. I gave them hell to fix it for the rest of the days it was to run. They trie to blame it on the funeral home.
Scum.
