Steele didnt mention any candidates by name. But the comments could be interpreted as a warning shot aimed at Republicans who have voiced support for the stimulus -- like Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Fla., whos running for governor next year in a competitive primary -- or who, like Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, are supporting health care reform efforts.

i guess Steel can tell which way the wind is blowing
What he means is he'll come after them to give them campaign contributions, not support any primary challengers.
Is Lindsey Graham at the top of that list?
So Steele is going to resign his position or force himself out?
Hey Steele!
Get back to me when you recoup the 900k you dropped on the Dem in NY.
LOL Steele is going to go after some of the biggest names on the grand old plantation. LOL yeah sure I’ll buy that.
...and then he huffed and puffed and let a bunch of hot air out. Which was brushed aside after wiping the spittle away and they continued to vote accordingly while pointing to the likes of McWuss and Gramnisty
Translation: I have no core principles, so don't try to put me in that box!
What I do have is a treasurer who told me when it was announced that we gave nearly a million dollars to that ultra liberal Democrat running as a Republican in upstate New York, that every one of our contribution envelopes have arrived empty. It's much worse than that. Those are prepaid envelopes!
I want my constituents to know that I have proven to be a moron for most of the last year, but I will try to stop showing it at least until we can get enough money in the bank to cover all of those empty postage paid envelopes.
Anyway, that's the gist of the translation.
Actually Crist is running for the Senate not Governor.
i thought Crist was running for Senate?
And yet he endorsed one in New York who most likely would have supported Obama. Go figure.
well the wind is blowing and hopefully he does what he say and flow with the wind, or he will get bowled over as well
I think Steele will go before the RINOs, not after them, and he’ll be dropping rose pedals at their feet as they walk.
“like Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Fla., whos running for governor next year in a competitive primary”
Crist is running for the Senate. He is already the Gov.
Get in line Steele... You're waaaay late to this fight.
You are nothing to us now. You're not a brother Republican, you're not a friend. We don't want to know you or what you do. We don't want to see you at the hotels, We don't want you near the House. When you see the American people, we want to know a day in advance, so we won't be there. You understand? "[With apologies to The Godfather]
What a weasel.
“like Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Fla., whos running for governor next year in a competitive primary”
I guess Charlie is scared of Marco and decided to run for governor again instead of senator /sarc
Steele has moistened a finger and thrust it skyward to see which way the political wind is blowing. He is a terrific example of exactly what is wrong with the RNC....
Wow this guy is a flake. I totally agree with him on this one but you don’t know where this guy stands day to day. Where is Ralph Reed? That guy is one of the smartest guys out there.
He would be much better off!!!
Slam them when they do wrong, praise them when they do right. It's like raising a kid or training a dog.
I just wish the wind would blow Steele out of his job.
He makes me ill.
We need Ken Blackwell as rnc chairman not this noodle.
We don’t need to “go after” them, just shun them as far as support goes and invite them to support conservative candidates.
Crist is running for Senator next year - they can’t even check that fact.
Pure damage control, nothing more.

Steele appears to be bipolar. One day he’s attacking Obama, the next day he’s swooning over Dear Leader.
‘Good cop, bad cop’, but it's supposed to be two different people.
We need hailey barbor. Oh that’s right, he’s busy right now.
I would not be surprised if Sarah and Hoffman scared the sh!t right out of them. They saw $116,000 roll in, a 20+% increase in Hoffman numbers and the absolute collapse of Scuzzie. Sarah has them all by the short hairs now.
Or Lee Atwater.
Or Haley Barbour. ;-)
oops
What is this sudden “we” we are hearing from the Rinos...? We Steele Rinos will come after the Rinos? I’ll bet the Rinos are really scared and now that the Rinos are going after the Rinos we can finally take a break and leave it all to the Rinos.
I’m a big fan of Haley Barbour. If Sarah Palin doesn’t get the 2012 nomination, I would want Haley to be our standard-bearer. A Palin-Barbour ticket, in any order, would be terrific.
I like him a lot. Age may be a factor.
Get a load of this... coming from a Chairman who has lips surgically attached to RINO tuchus (Mark Kirk, et al).
Right up until he decided to run for RNC Chairman, he was part of Christie Todd Whitman’s organization which has always been dedicated to electing leftwing Republicans.
What a hypocrite.
Steele continues to make us all sick....
In fairness to Steele, he DID actually withdraw his support for Kirk in the primary a few weeks ago after conservatives balked at his endorsement. I posted about it here on FR:
Michael Steele Withdraws Support for Mark Kirk's Senate Bid
Of course, this doesn't excuse Steele's glowing endorsement of Kirk prior to that, nor does it help that the RNC got weasely on us and claimed Steele didn't change his mind because he had never "officially" endorsed him to begin with (sure sounded like an "official" endorsement to me when he went on the radio and promised the RNC would fund Kirk's campaign before he won the nomination). And the fact Steele would come to Illinois and heap praise on Kirk with the excuse that he "didn't know" there was such a negative backlash against Kirk from GOP voters after his cap n' trade vote tells me Steele is too stupid to be chairman (assuming it's true that he had no idea the rank and file Illinosi GOP voters had been seething at Kirk for months).
I ususally have nothing good to say about the Obama propagenda mills here, but I will say that Carol Marin at the Sun-Times did her job and hounded the "national" party until they clarified where exactly they stood on Kirk in the primary. And now the "official" word is the RNC and its chairman are not endorsing Kirk in the primary and never have, BUT the NRSC (which of course is the wing of the GOP funding all the Senate candidates), IS officially endorsing Kirk is the primary because he's the most "electable". Touche.
The NRSC would raise more money from conservatives if wouldn’t spend on liberal candidates in contested primaries.
