If so then it just shows that much more what poor choice she was to start with.

To be fair, this liberal paper cites no source or evidence.
Although, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to learn this is indeed factual.

So, will the local/state Republican party toss her out on her Democrat ear?
To: EternalVigilance
Had she been elected, she would have pulled a Specter I say.
I’m afraid they (Dems) might have had this as a strategy from
the start.
Isn’t her husband affiliated with the unions in
a big way? I thought I had heard that somewhere.

The other thing about this is they imply that Hoffman is some kind of extremist. He appears to me to be nothing of the sort. He looks like a pretty mainstream conservative to me.

If this is true why is she not quoted as saying this. It looks to me that this newspaper is trying to make news instead of reporting it. Does anyone have her on the record supporting Owens? If not, then this is a fabrication.

On the one hand, the only reason I’m at all surprised by this headline is that I had heard precisely the opposite reason cited for her withdrawal; “big tent” Republicans have sided with Democrats against conservatives at every turn for my entire lifetime. (Christine Todd Whitman, Arnold Schwartzenegger, William Weld, Pete Wilson, Michael Bloomberg, and on and on and on)
On the other hand, “quietly” in this context means that she has done so without any public statements. In other words, the news article cannot back up its own assertions. This is the old “unnamed sources” gambit, and is entirely worthless.

If Hoffman loses, the blame needs to be put squarely where it belongs: on the RNC leadership that chose Scozzofava in the first place, on know-nothings like Newt and Steele for letting it happen, and on cowards like Huckabee and Romney for not stepping up and supporting the conservative.
If Hoffman wins, the same people need to be chastised for letting it become an issue in the first place.
We can’t let this keep happening between now and 2012.

Nice way for her to pay back the national party that blew all those hundreds of thousands of OUR dollars to elect her fat ass. Shoot, considering the blizzard of press releases they put out promoting this woman and trashing Hoffman, they probably spent that much on cartridges for the fax machines alone.
Only half kidding.

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.
Quietly and thoughtfully??? Don't you love how these liberals are always characterized as "thoughtful"
How about this version: During the day Saturday, she began to secretly and vindictively encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens

Amazing. The national Republican Party spent all that money and support on Scozzanitwit only to see her endorse the very Democrat that she was running against. They should have seen this coming.
Next time the Republican Party calls and asks me for money, we're going to have a chat before I tell them to go to hell.

Correct! Also they’d approached the Dems also just in case she could gin up support there first. So that tells me she just wanted to run regardless of which party affiliation it took to do so....

"It is my hope that with my actions today,
my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations."
Now which party is she talking about? The one that has the R in front of it, or the one she truly represents?

BTW, did anyone see the completely lame columnists. One actually had titles like, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired,” “How to... 101” and “The Buck Stops Here.” Biologists have found neurologically impaired shellfish capable of creating more meaningful titles.
