'Why the World Dislikes America' Yeah, so What?
Right Handed Pitcher ^ | 10/30/2009

Posted on 10/30/2009 1:07:04 PM PDT by oldskuulconserv

Via RealClearWorld comes this article from the Hindu. India is a fairly pro-American nation, and it serves to reason that this article is written by a Russian. Some of its funnier parts are:

The American ideology produces a sublimated version, so to say, of human equality. It stresses that lineage, education, ethnicity and so on do not matter in making one a full-fledged member of the community or a citizen of the world. As the American Dream has it, anyone can get rich, become President…

Such democracy brings unexpected fruits — it makes ordinary Americans conceited, and totally unlike, say, Western Europeans in terms of culture and education.

In Moscow two years ago, an artist said to me that America has lost its’ soul. I couldn’t argue.

Does India still have a caste system where you are born into your lot in life and should not upset the system? Hope for something better in your reincarnated life?

I don’t really care whether the world likes us or not as long as they fear us.

Not only do they still have it, some recent immigrants are bringing it here.

We had an IT director that went out of his way to hire and promote a member of his own caste. He drove out three other analysts with better qualifications. When it was found out, he was fired.

Our new director is also Indian (and now an American, God bless him) and he has none of that. Great guy.

There is Old Money in America that doesn’t like to see the new rich come into power.

Estate taxes are part of that.

We also have billion dollar marxists who insist that WE are not paying enough taxes or spending enough on government socialist programs.

Officially, no. But in reality, laws can't stop people from behaving a certain way based on a thousand years of culture and religion. Ie. people can marry/date outside their caste, but then they have incur the wrath of parents and family. Change is never easy. So they majority still follow tradition even if many in the younger generation disagree with it.

I’ve travelled alot and I can say for certain - the people who hate America, hate each-other and their neighboring countries even more.

Many things about Obama disturb me, but the idea that he will “make foreigners love us” is absolutely infuriating.

There are those in America who hold back their peers telling them not to try to strive for more. “They won't like you”, “you're selling out”, etc.

You are limited in this country by your own initiative.

They talk of Americans’ feeling of superiority (in our way of life).

Which nation would they hold up as the “best” example to emmulate? Don’t pick and choose elements. Which is the best?

If America is to no longer be the world’s superpower, which nation do they nominate as top dog?

>> ‘Why the World Dislikes America’ Yeah, so What?

Not everyone in the ‘World’ dislikes America. The premise is wrong.

Should say:

‘Why Terrorists, Liberals, Marxists, and Communists Dislike America’.

Easy answer, they’d have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for Americans.

Yeah, Lord knows that no amount of laws against corruption and crime are holding anyone back, except the few honest people.

I didn’t say it was the only thing hold you back.

But there are those with drive who do succeed. The Obamas tell us how horrible the American system is. They did pretty well for themselves.

Does anything think that the “changes” they bring will create MORE or FEWER millionaires?

I don’t really care whether the world likes us or not as long as they fear us.

That only works as long as you have a vigilant, dedicated population willing play perfect defense every day - forever. We've seen what happened to the British Empire once that dedication faded.

The last two generations educated by government schools aren't up to the task of making the world fear us, so now have to learn to play nice, especially with our bankers in China.

It seems so narcissistic to spend time worrying about what those you don’t actually even care about think of you. We have too much of that throughout our culture.

The Russian author shouldn’t talk. If the Soviets (read Russians) didn’t have such a “superior” attitude in Afghanistan in the Eighties, a lot of us wouldn’t be in the situation we are in presently.

As I recall, the Soviets poisoned wells and booby-trapped toys. I bet those acts won them a lot of fans.
